Does BM2 have a 'select inverse' function or did they not quite bite the entire NanoStudio sequencer*? If so, select the part you want to keep, tap 'select inverse', tap delete.
* Sorry @boone51, can't help myself!
I owned nanostudio before BM2 was released and I can definitely confirm there were a few similarities...lol
Hey guys, thnx again for all the feedback. After reading and trying most of the responses, I've decided to just focus on banging out a drum beat first to capture whatever inspiration I may be feeling at the time on one track, then worry about exporting it afterwards. (@paulb - I completely agree with your last post!). My goal is to finish 30 remixes in a month so every little step is important and can potentially save me hours of time.
@dj8 - thanks for that left margin tip! That is huge. Also was a wake up call for me to use ipad more than iPhone for beatmaking as I've gotten very comfortable just taking out my phone when an idea hits but PIA to edit midi notes on that tiny screen. So any serious work on ipad from now on.
@syrupcore and boone51 - after your initial comments, I seriously looked at switching my entire workflow (drum beat wise) to nanostudio just for this reason but one nice feature that's convenient about bm2 is the multiple banks. Not sure if nanostudio has this but I couldn't seem to figure it out. I've got probably banks A,B, and C full of kicks, banks D,E and F full of snares and the remainder for various samples, hi-hats, etc. So when I'm working on an idea, it's very convenient to switch to the different banks and audition different samples to see which ones work or don't work with overall idea.
@syrupcore - I'll look into that "select inverse" idea. Hopefully they also copied that feature from nano.
@funjunkie - I have midibridge but I've only ever used it to make routing virtual midi easier to organize with specific apps. What you recommended sounds like a great solution, unfortunately I have no clue what Stream Byter is.
@oldman - yeah, turns green automatically

Glad it helped out...I picked up a lot from this thread! I'm looking forward to digging in w MidiBridge. Even though the UI isn't very friendly, MB looks like it will save me a lot of time once I learn the app.
@PaulB, thanks for the MIdiBridge Stream Byter link!
DM1 was mentioned earlier - why can't you import your own samples? Works for me when I try. Make a new 'user kit', and then use Audiocopy to paste your own samples into the kick, snare, clap, etc. Done.
dm1 has a glitch. havent been able to load own samples at all. plus bm2 has 8 banks of 16 pads each i can easily flip thru when auditioning samples.
so youve been able to load your own samples with no problems?
yep no problems at all - it's been a few months since i've tried doing it ... maybe a recent update screwed things up, I'll try tomorrow and see.
@gjcyrus Nanostudio doesn't have banks in the Trg instrument but you can load multiple trg instruments.
I have what sounds like a similar setup. I load a template project with a kit full of kicks, another full of snares and another with hi-hats and other percussion. I find the ones I want and then use the pad copy feature to copy those pads into a single trg. Very quick. Tap: Pad-> edit > copy > menu > other trg > pad > edit > paste.
Beatmaker's drum sampler is definitely more full featured then Nano's but the TRG gets it done for me. There are almost too many features (for me) in BM2's drum sampler. Chop lab is pretty amazing though!
@syrupcore - thnx for heads up. Are you saying that with your setup, I could audition say 48 kicks (banks A, B and C in my beatmaker are just kicks) and 48 snares (banks D,E and F) LIVE with a music idea/sample I've got going? or do i need to know ahead of time which specific kick samples and snare samples i will copy and paste into 16 pads?
If you can, i might switch just to save time on the exporting situation.
while i also like the choplab, for this specific project, i dont need to use it.
@halftone - yeah, last time i tried was about 3 weeks ago. it would always default to first track. another member here, synthandson i believe, also encountered the same problem. i tried contacting them and they werent aware of the problem and asked for the specific thread discussion but i've been too busy with my day job and just trying to actually finish making music instead of being an unpaid app developer intern.

Yes. Instead of 6 banks, it'd be 6 TRG instruments. You can use this to make TRG kits quickly from your existing samples: http://luktown.org/random/trg/
I haven't tried it properly yet but Noisepad just got midi, and you can import your own samples
But Noisepad has no sequencer or quantize features so its hard to work with
Hi, new to the group, found this thread researching drum machine apps beyond DrumPerfect and DM1 that export audio stems/multiple tracks. Then I found these Beatmaker 2 tutorials:
YouTuber Nathan/Digital Resonance sets up the method around the 4:30 mark in part one, then shows the separated tracks in Auria about :48 into part two.
Basically, the trick is to assign pads to FX busses, which then export as separate tracks, although he mixes this up with a few different drum machine audio tracks as well. I don't own BM2 - yet - but they claim you can create unlimited FX busses in the app description, so theoretically, you should be able to export as many tracks as you like, device limitations notwithstanding. I plan to get BM2 and test this method for exporting individual drum tracks soon.
Has anyone here tried this?
No dice. Tried the method proscribed above, but could not export FX busses as audio stems either within Beatmaker or via Audiobus into Auria.
In the time spent, I probably could have duped and deleted my way to 12 individual drum tracks 5 times over, so I guess that's still the best solution (for now).
With a zillion and one drum machines on the bus, why more don't export stems is beyond me.
Not much to add to this issue, but it's a reminder of what a great resource this forum is. Hadn't read through this thread before. Learned a boat-load by doing so. Thanks to posters new and old....
