sunvox. rediscovered.
wow. Can't believe I slept on this so long.
I had it in the, I really wanna use this pile and have been playing with it all day and what I thought was super weird and complex is actually very intuitive and simple for the most part!
Stop sleeping and wake up the sun beast

I agree. Alexander Zolotov is an old school programming genius.
All his Apps are pretty cool. I love the "Virtual ANS" synth to convert light spectrum into audio. Nothing sounds like it and it's a 1938 synthesizer. If you've seen Solaris you've heard it. Sci-Fi Hall of Famer.
If he ever follows through and makes SunVox run in the AUv3 packaging he'll be relevant in the only way that seems to matter for new App buys.
He posted that is was "on the roadmap" and he travels down than road at a fast pace. Of course, he could have started and read the Apple docs and thought. "Oh Hell No" if it doesn't allow C Code. C runs on anything. Objective-C and Swift are Apple only. "You can check in anytime you like but you can never leave." I know AU's are Apple only but do you have to code them in Apple Speak?
I like using SunVox on my Mac when my iPad's re-charging. I love Doug's "Using SunVox as an Effect" Video using IAA.
Sunvox is one of my fave apps!
I'm still a little lost on the tracker editing... Not for entering notes or velocity, but the xxyy columns... And how to get that to work with the effects, like the arpegiator and other stuff... And how to enter notes on the tracker while it's playing thru tha sequence.... If I can get that I'll be golden
That would be sweet to be an au. I don't feel like it's needed but I see that's what people look for these days, and In most cases it is kinda needed, sunvox tho... It's like a better korg gadget hehe... Just wish I could drop my own effects right in the instrument area
The cool, nerdy interface always intrigued me. It gives me the feeling that I'm working with some next level high-tech computer system
I really like these abstract minimal UI's...
I also like that he offers it for free on Windows, Linux and macOS.
I just bought it.... Thanx for reminding me...
Besides being a good developer he also makes amazing tracks!
This is one of the demo tracks.. beautiful melodies..
Filesize is only 47kb
Wow:
Tap the 'lock' icon to enabled pattern editing while it's playing.
On the iPad I also enable the cursor keys (the 4 arrow thing above the pattern icon).
This makes it easier to add rests (arrow down) when entering notes.
The effects are quite easy to add from the 3 line menu, but once you get used to their numbers it's faster to add them by finger and use interpolate command for value interpolations. It's also possible to enable 'draw' mode for the values but I find that to be a bit sketchy at the moment.
@reasOne SunVox has MIDI input too so it's a no brainer to use it with your favorite iOS sequencer if you don't like the tracker
THIS...
This makes a huge difference
This too... And he's too polite to say it, but the best option is Xequence
Or like I do it, a marriage between loopish sequencers (Quantum, Fugue, Nodebeat, Arpeggionome, etc.) recording sequences into Xequence and then sending them to Sunvox + Sampletank + Beathawk + BS-16i
Haha, thanks for the free marketing!
But yeah, the two work beautifully together as long as you set BPM in Sunvox to 800 and don't use more than 16 events at once (both Sunvox limitations, but NightRadio "is on it"...)
The demo songs you get with the app are just a reason to buy this app! Great stuff..
And yeah... I really like the GUI of Xequence and SunVox has the same 'minimal' style.. I'm happy I have them both.. These apps both have real smart design..
And (from another sunvox thread) using a sequencer (Xequence lets say) to drive Sunvox, you can use Sunvox to create audio stems: Hit record in SV then use Sunvox rendering options to make your separate .wav
One of my favorite IOS sequencing apps, and the synthesis ain't bad either. Also one of the most usable apps ever on iPhone - no silly onscreen, pretend-analog knobs - just controls that work as you expect them to.
Been working on a Sunvox tune on iPhone - just figuring out how I'm going to overdub guitar parts.
Ima have to try all this!
Ya man that draw mode was fkn with me lol I was so lost..
I watched a video of someone adding the arp effect in a desktop and tried to duplicate what they did in iOS and nope.... Didn't work, they copy pasted everything in down the tracker, can't do that in iOS I don't think and plus I don't even know what values to enter in the xxyy Columns 😂
To be honest, a tracker interface is not really too suitable for a touchscreen device that....... doesn't have a keyboard!!
Just grabbed your app !
Trying the info you gave on YouTube
This is so pretty, nice.
Doesn't SunVox support bluetooth QWERTY keyboards now? I haven't checked this - maybe i will this weekend. tracker that supports touch screen and keyboard would be rad.
Sunvox support BT-Keyboard but 'key off' is not handled by iOS as far I know.
This is app really is a masterpiece!
Here's something for every SunVox user...

All entries can be downloaded and it can be quite educational if one has an interest in how SunVox rolls
Awesome, been waiting for the results.
http://warmplace.ru/compo/sunvox/2019.03/SunVox Compo 2019.03.zip
And it's totally worth downloading the Compo player and messing with the visualizer options
Yeah, and also marvel at the file sizes of the compo-entries and compare that to giganormous sample-libraries
(There's some pretty neat synthesis & effects tricks to be found when digging into the .sunvox files).
I've added a knowledgebase stub for sharing SunVox knowledge at:
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/32552/sunvox-modular-synth-and-em-studio
@espiegel123 thanks for that.
Speaking of (re)discovering SunVox -- I just wanted to install it on my shiny new iPhone 12 "mini" (to be honest, the smallest smartphone you can buy nowadays is huge in my book, but that's another story), and noticed that in an App Store search for literally "SunVox", SunVox comes out as result number... 12. Seriously?
Is this the same for everyone else, or is it maybe because I've purchased it in the past?
