Just curious but did you buy Gestrument in a bundle with Scalegen? i'm wondering whether that's what confused it.
I did, but I bought the pre-release sale price of Pro so I can't see now what the current bundle would say for me.

ScaleGen isn’t in the new bundle but was in the old bundle so maybe that’s causing the problem.

Do the sliders only control internal Gestrument Pro stuff or can they MIDI out? I know you can MIDI control the sliders themselves. Its no biggy if not, would be nice however. This app is a beast, taken a few hours to wrap my head around it The Tim Webb vid was a great starter tutorial but there is clearly much more to explore.

One question, some stuff I've tried to MIDI doesn't seem to repeat, e.g, Model D and Ripplemaker (although, switching between presets shows that the note trigger messages are getting through) I can't quite figure out how to control this, even with Legato slider all the way down.

Regarding sliders and midi out, please see my previous reply to @Dchild.

The repeating events should work (I haven’t had any issues with it). It’s difficult to properly diagnose this issue without seeing how your patch is set up. If you PM me some screenshots I would be happy to take a look and see if there’s something I can do to help:)

@Calverhall - it might be an issue of the synth not reacting fast enough to the note off's. I have that a lot when I connect Gestrument to Digital Performer, but not when controlling stand alone synths and sample banks. So I think it's an issue in how some synths handle the note on/off of a repeated note. I've checked the actual midi output several times and it is fine.

@brambos any thoughs on this? Ripplemaker and Troublemaker have this issue, anything I can do to combat this?

No, just bought The old app...think I got it on release, had it ages anyway. Wish I’d done the pre-release thing now

Seems like an issue that I would use Fl’s Articulate tool to fix.. maybe we need an Articulate tool here (onboard)..

Could the apps in question be expecting note on with zero velocity instead of note off? Most stuff treats the two messages the same, but I have come across exceptions that didn’t handle one or the other. A Streambyter script that translated note off into note on vel 0 messages could test this.

Same here, the old bundle had Scalegen in which is iPad only not universal so maybe that’s caused problems.

Oh well got the beta for now.

Aha....just realised I have the LE version, so probably don’t qualify for the bundle. I guess that’s solved the two quid extra thing.

Bugger, I thought I had the full version, and was banking on the bundle price. Arse.

A workaround would be to set the Rhythm gen to Pattern instead of pulses, and make it two steps long, where the first is on and the second is off. To have it play 8th notes for instance, set the note length to 16ths with 2 steps. I often do that when I want a bass for instance to play every beat, but not play the notes legato, but rather tight and short. If this doesn't work then there is definitely an issue with the synths you are using not fully respecting note-offs.

  • Gestrument Pro is out of this world. Paired with a Touche, controlling ODYSSEi. Im speechless at the expressive power. I honestly cant think when I last had this kind of fun.

  • @JesperNordin how the Chord map correlate to the Gobal key? Do they work together? And tips?

That sounds super cool! Send me a pm with a video of you’ve got one!

  • Update on the bundle issue - this is what Apple Support told us:

    Hello Jesper,

My name is Elise, and I am a senior Advisor with Apple Developer Program Support. I have been given your case for review, and I am glad to assist you today.

First, in regard of your bundle, I did some research, and found that customers who previously purchased one or more apps in an app bundle can use the Complete My Bundle feature to adjust the bundle price adjusted to account for those previous purchases. You will find that information on the following link:

    https://help.apple.com/app-store-connect/#/deveaec374de

Please note that if your users are unable to adjust their bundle, they will need to contact iTunes.

  • @Dchild - what we have now is a ChordMap that is completely separated from the Global scales. We will have many types of pitch and rhythm generators in the future - some that are independent, some that are connected to for instance global scales. We have several new chord generators planned, but for now you will need to make a chord sequence by looping a cursor playing on Chord map and then looping the equivalent scales in the scale slots. I have a preset that does this and will be included in the next update, but I can share it here (I hope):

@JesperNordin So basically contact Apple then as they don’t have seem to have made the price adjustments themselves as it’s still £2 more than a single purchase which obviously they are to stupid to see. Thanks for the info.

  • @Jumpercollins - just to clarify, the bundle price is higher than just buying Pro, but then if you have the original Gestrument, whatever you payed for that should be deducted from the price of the bundle.

Brought the original and ScaleGen nothing deducted £2 added ! What gives ?

  • @Jumpercollins - yeah, contact Apple and tell them we were told (by senior adviser Elise) to ask you to contact them for a fix...

Yeah I know but there are not enough at the moment. A few tutorials and some sounds stuff but we cannot see exactly what it can do in detail. I am not sure I actually need it according to what I have seen so far.

Fair enough. I suppose I haven’t seen a video on the chord maps or whatever. If you find one, do share

Interesting. You've seen the Doug and Tim vids and don't know as regards yes or no yet? Between them they give you pretty much 90 per cent of what this puppy can do. Which maybe answers the question for you :)

I guess what I really wanna know is how easy it is to make legit sounding loops that can be strung together into a track. Haven’t seen a video of someone doing this like a champ yet. Though it seems obviously possible.
