Isn’t there a naming convention of files so that when importing you don’t need to do all the beat and tempo stuff,as Henny does, it’s already in the file name?

Anyone have a link to that?

    Cheers

I know is possible but don't remember how the labelling worked. I'm searching meanwhile doing some family tasks. If I found it I will post it. Meanwhile another user will come with the answer probably...

I think I understand? You hit Flatten after you've recorded? Why don't I just try it! Thanks for your help.

Also if you want to check after flattening if loop start properly, temporarily disable Link.

Can’t you also just adjust the start point of the loop?? That’s what I do I don’t seem to have too many problems

Could be an issue with chord progressions loops for example. Usually recorded loop true start is at beginning of the loop, but BW starts it from middle of the loop, third bar, etc... Could be an issue when you export too.

Right. But you can adjust the start point in Blocs Wave without flattening.

You’re right it’s still possible to set an offset, it’s quicker. But unfortunately exported loops still will have a wrong start, so at some point it’s needed to flatten.

  • It’s strange how there is no way of favouriting your samples. Once you import samples or buy a whole bunch of their packs it can get really disorganised knowing which are the samples you like or don’t like.

For some reason, the "importing your sounds" video on that page is listed as 'Private' and unplayable.

  • Some keywords like synth, bass, bpm# etc will auto populate. not sure all the options tho? You can also double tap the top and mass rename by column.

    What do you mean exatcly?

  • Has anybody else noticed that if you go to background with BW stopped and use another app like safari for some seconds BW audio engine will not play anymore? I love iOS12... :/

I’ve had this happen on iOS 11 also :( it’s very annoying

I’ve not noticed before as I used a lot GarageBand since many months, but I want to use Blocswave again with Audiobus, Xequence and other stuff. So this bug is annoying, I’ve just sent them a mail about that.

Weird reverse thumbs up I guess; my least fave part of the app is the sorting out. I use so many samples I've played in that a better system for seeing/sorting etc would be huge (for me).

    Yep, same here.

The pop-up screen that comes up in Blocs when you bulk import from the files app, allows you to tap the header of a column and adjust all files in that column to one setting. For example 120 BPM

Long standing gripe for many. Vaguely recall them saying they were working on better sample management, could have been wishful thinking.

Many thanks for the tip!!! ;)

  • @bounce @JohnnyGoodyear i just emailed them this feature request. They said it’s been requested before and would pass it on to the dev team. If you guys haven’t done so maybe drop them a little line. The more the better. Might push them etc

  • edited October 2018

Sure thing @Janosax. here’s another, hope it gets more people on the bandwagon:
Make your main (most busy) pattern where everything is happening.
Copy this across all 8 sections.
Go into each section and go crazy with changing up the percussion.
Leave all the melodic stuff alone, mutes are fine usually.
Now fly between the sections, they respond with lightning speed. You will notice that you can get lots of percussive variations happening without any hiccups in the sound!
    Also works with groovebox
Can't recall who said this one or I’d credit them.

I'll give them a shout, in the meantime @AmpifyxNovation we know you're put there lurkin’ still love this app and hope you give it some love.

  • A really nice overview by Henny and some great suggestions and techniques by forum members.

I’m afraid that is their default answer to any feature request for the past 2-3 years.

It’s not even a good answer.

“Yeah, we got asked before but ignored it.... maybe you can ask again. We’ll continue to ignore the mounting requests.“

They’ve not responded on this forum for what, a year or so?

They’ve changed direction on their targeted markets and aren’t interested in us any longer I’m afraid.

I don’t think things are that dire. When Ampify goes quiet it means they’re busy making and improving things. Just because they aren’t on our, “i need this so it’s important i have it now,” schedule doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten us.

I’d love to make a bet, that by the end of 2018 we’ll see some great stuff from them which will help making music on iOS even more enjoyable and accessible to users.

Guess i’m a glass is half full kind of guy though...

I hope you’re right, but I’ve been in contact with them the past year outside of this forum.

A line that always gets spun is...

“Yes, we’d like to see that feature too, but we can’t say it will happen. “

    It’s just spin!

Where is the user sample organisation they “also wanted” 3 years ago?

I’ve not bought any Ampify sound or preset packs for the last 6 months now. There’s just no sign or communication that they’re actively working on bringing in the requested features.

My attention is now on apps where the Devs are responsive, engage in discussions and are actively improving their apps.

We all know who those dudes are! :)

  • Don’t get me wrong, Blocs, GrooveBox and Launchpad are all great apps.

I got my moneys worth and more.

It’s just sad to see the ball dropped on what were very exciting apps with a bundle of potential.

  • @SpookyZoo hmm that’s a shame. What direction do you think they’re moving In now then? What makes you say their target audience has changed ?

Just export a loop from blocs, then look at the filename it gets given, this'll give you what you need for Tempo and key info. ;)

Categories are picked up from the name as well, I think it is looking for keywords like Bass or Kick.

In 2018, the only updates to Blocs Wave have been Bug Fixes.

Oh, and a Privacy Panel back in August.

    No new features.

But a dozen new soundpacks you can buy every month that sound just like the last dozen you bought.

Sounds like sour grapes and it kinda is but that's only because I want to see these apps reach their massive potential.

Launchpad app had one update that gave you the functionality to upload your track to instagram as a video.

If that's want you want to do, but even that is awful. It's just a static screenshot with the Launchpad logo. It doesn't even change colour or do anything interesting in it's minute length. It's just a really lacklustre effort.

Plenty of us took time to fill in all their surveys this year where they asked for our opinions on the app and what features we wanted to see. But I've not seen any news from them on what they got from that or where they're going with our feedback etc.

At the moment these apps are just a cash cow releasing soundpacks.

That's the way I see it.

Really do hope to be proved wrong and I'll hold my hands up if it happens.

Ok I see what you're saying. Maybe they have taken on board the feedback and it's taking a while to implement. Sound design of packs is a different department so that will have a separate momentum. I'd be surprised if they didn't improve upon blocs wave as they've made something very special here, it just needs some refining. Look how long BM3 is taking to refine.

If Ampify are making something new instead of refining BW, I'd be really interested to see where they will go next, as if this is what they've achieved so far then the mind boggles as to where they can go.

On another note, it almost seems like blocs wave and launchpad should be united into one app. Then all it would need is a simple sequencer, and some other bits and pieces, and man, that would be a pretty awesome all in one daw, but the most simple and well executed one out there.

On a further note, a somewhat work around for favouriting samples is once you choose one you like, flatten it, and it gets saved into the user section. Not as good as a folder system, but something at least.
