Sunrizer
Use the app’s midi connection menu.
BeepStreet apps you don’t even need the AUM routing matrix
Many apps you don’t
That is the joy of Genome
It connects to everything after first time.
It stop/starts AUM and even AB.
It is a super simple yet intuitive way to perform basic note sequences and automation
That's the point. Everybody has a different workflow and once you've found what works well for you, you'll usually stick with it.
hahaha Dad jokes. I meant TroubleMaker. hehe
Nope, no dice. Tried every combo I could think of. I am missing something obviously. I did get it working solid with AB2 (on iPad 2) and Xynthesizr but not with Genome. Care to share a screen shot?
It would be PERFECT as a midi looper, especially with the launchpad-like ability to launch sequences, but the thing that kills it is there's no binding for record.
Asked dev. said it's not going to be there... So... And Infinite Looper is waaaayyyy too buggy and unstable to depend on unfortunately.
my thoughts exactly. bummer to hear the record binding is not there.
Are the send and receive MIDI channels correct?
Background audio enabled in Sunrizer?
Yes and yes.
More time with this app last night. This time trying to get Xynthesizr and Mersenne to coexist within its realm. About and hour and 1/2 of nothing but frustration, until I turned to ApeMatrix and just loaded up some Rozeta and just exhaled with a smile on my face.
I don't own Mersenne but Laplace from the same dev and it works flawlessly (Background audio enabled!). Takes seconds to set up.
Sounds like there's something else wrong on your iPad.
Note that to get any use out of MIDI controlling Xynthesizr, it needs a sequence running that will either be transposed or re-scaled by MIDI notes sent from Genome - or whatever other MIDI sequencer.
Oops. No issue with Mersenne. The issue I had last night was with Xynthesizr and Genome.
Yup, I had a sequence set up on Xyn and again (as with Sunrizer) I tried each and every parameter in the setup of both Genome and the app to get it going with Genome.
Some apps load in a snap (like you mentioned LaPlace or Mersenne in my case) and others I just can't seem to get the secret code. Ah well.
Sorry to insist, but was the sequencer in Xynthesizr running while you've sent MIDI notes from Genome in order to transpose the sequence in Xynthesizr?
No worries, I appreciate the interest. I don't know the answer to that without trying again. Which I will do. I'll report back.
Ok, so, I got it working! I think the issue I was having was that I was playing around with Xynthesizr, trying to understand the Octave settings (still don't get it) and when I set it back to "1" all was well. I believe I had it set to "4" and it would not work. Unsure if that was the reason or not.
I'll try and start all over again and try to reproduce my steps and hopefully have a more concrete process. Thanks for the help so far @rs2000
Do me a favor.
Open Sunrizer alone.
Not in a host app.
Connect Genome and SR.
Do you have SR as output enabled on Genome?
Glad to hear that
Xynthesizr has a somewhat uncommon concept of an internal sequencer grid on which you can place "free floating" note events and decide later what scale they're on.
The scale, scale inversion, root note and octave switches all influence how the events on the grid are interpreted and played by the internal synth engine.
Sending MIDI notes will only select the scale inversion or transpose the whole sequence.
In addition to that, Genome and Xynthesizr can both run in sync by using MIDI clock.
Both support master and slave clock sync, so which is master and which is slave is up to you. Or use Cubasis and have both Xynthesizr and Genome run in sync etc. etc.
Until you really get cozy w Genome I may hold off Xynthesizer in the mix.
That may be a little confusing to be honest.
I suggest try doing a song with Genome.
1 synth.
1 bass.
1 Drums
All driven by Genome.
Make patterns and chains.
Do some midi learn.
Then practice playing and recording.
Easy to edit.
Just highlight notes.
Go to the right and click icon.
You can than edit 3 parameters of the PHYSICAL NOTES on the grid already inputed.
OR you can hit record wobble knobs and the automation is recorded that easy.
Talk later
Will do and excellent advice. Walk don't run. I'm on it. I have had some mild success with using it in conjunction with AudioBus. I think its an excellent prog and worthy of my head-banging to suss it all out. I often walk away from an app by this time which is silly and just money down the crapper.
Thanks for help fellas!
Got it
Keep me posted to hear what you do for real!
Will do! Just finished my first completed track in quite some last night in Oscilab. One sitting, in a lounge waiting to pick up my daughter from a rehearsal. Love that app.
