Since you can load sf2 and instr files, I would like one way to share presets inter apps.
Let's see the videos. maybe this gonna be a unplanned purchase.

  • Best wishes to you Caustic_Rej!
One thought re Audiobus and or IAA integration: the iPad app Tabletop has an approach that's workable, in a pattern based environment - Worth a look perhaps. Caustic kicks ass

  • I appreciate your honesty @Caustic_Rej.

I have used pattern based sequencers that supported multiple time signatures (even 'crazy' stuff like 15/8). In some ways it makes it easier, as you can do neat stuff like have patterns with different time signatures. Then on the main sequencer window, the patterns are simply different lengths to 4/4 patterns.

Couple neat features I found in a few minutes:

    • Tap & hold the name of device (SubSynth, PCMsynth, and etc) and rename the device which is nice of when viewing the mixer channels. Also, on the SubSynth (and maybe others) tap & hold the waveform and you can draw your own, add noise or smoothing, and analyze sample to use as a waveform.

    • In the PCMsynth there are a lot of nice features like once you have your sound sampled, you can auto-zero to beginning of sample instead of guessing where exactly it begins, you can also have it analyze a stable section of the sample to map it to the correct root key of your sample instead of just defaulting to C4 and throwing off all your other parts.

    • The Modular & Vocoder are awesome and a cool FMsynth

    • Really nice file/sample edit capabilities and options
    • Tons of great effects and lots of well implemented and thought out features

Can't wait to see where this goes in the future!

  • In one or more of my AB slots, hopefully.

Seems really neat, too bad it suffer from android ugliness. :)

Or am i the only one who finds the interface ugly as hell?

  • Hey, you ain't no oil painting....

    :D

  • Couldn't resist. Got it :)

  • Sold me too. What's your cut on these Doug?? ;-)

  • I heard he gets stacks and stacks of dollars for these review videos! Haha I kid I kid

  • Well, he's investing it in his singing lessons, so cool.

  • @Caustic_Rej congrats and a big thank you for creating such a wonderful app. I actually wouldn't want too much to change as I love Caustic as it is, the UI, the workflow, the flexibility work great for me - especially the export to AudioShare. So here is my wish list...
Audiocopy 2 in and out so we can paste in new PCM samples etc.,
Export by individual track with or without effects would be excellent
Definitely different pattern lengths and alternative time signatures
    AudioBus support
IAA especially if you add audio capability
I agree that audio capability could be a predefined length but I guess this could be a new machine module and therefore could add other features to manipulate the sample - granular etc.,
Easier zoom in would be useful
Not tested virtual MIDI capability yet but that with background audio and MIDI learn would be cool
I notice is times out if I leave it to play unattended so is there a setting for ignoring sleep mode?
Oh, did I say how much I love this and don't want many changes? lol ;-)

  • Damn, that was actually a list!!

  • It's just a pattern based sequencer, right? So,no edit screen like auria/cubasis/BM2?I have to pass then although it looks nice and it's great to have it on iOS.

  • @Crabman it has something like 14 machines / modules available in your own configuration covering modular analog, PCM, FM, vocoder etc., with lots of automation and effects. Yes it is pattern based but you can also work at linear song level. Your choice but Caustic packs a punch.

  • Did buy today, amazing app, what an amount of functionality and depth in a relatively small (<60Mb) app!

  • Nice that you can use multiple instances of modules.

    .

  • I'm trying the win version, I'm loving this synth, I can't wait for an AB update so I'll buy this app. :D (I should do many Christmas gift now, I don't have to much money for app purchase)

  • I just ordered a Samson Carbon 49. I can not wait to hook it up to this. I have not downloaded Caustic just yet as I am busy but it is definately on my to do list for tonight.
This looks like one hell of a beast. Help I need more time in my day.
My thanks in advance to the developer for giving us this wonderful App.

  • @Simon, ok, thank you for the advice! ;)

  • If you don't feel like working with patterns go down to the song sequencer and press the upper-left button to get to a normal full-length piano roll. You can then enter notes for your various synths. You can even mix and match patterns and pianoroll, even on the same synth (as long as you don't run out of voices)

  • @Simon Although I'd love you to buy my app, I probably won't be raising the price just for AB support in 3.1. If you're willing to not slaughter me for not having all the bells and whistles in my first release, I'm willing to be honest with you and not make you feel pressured when you don't have the money.

  • To be fair however, this app does seem complete enough to work on its own . Flesh out the work and then just share to cubasis for any additional work. Yes Audiobus will be very handy but with this app it looks to be complete enough to get by on its own even. I really think this is going to be fun to play with.

  • @Caustic_Rej you're killing me by being another cool dev who I want to support. I really don't have the expendable income right now to put towards any more iOS toys... But man, I just might make the jump...

Although, I do have a laptop with windows... Hmm... Perhaps just to take a look...

  • It seems the app is 16:9 while the ipads are 4:3.Is there a chance it will change with an update? So much wasting space (in landscape).i'm tempted to buy this after watching some videos.Only thing that keeps me away for now is how much i spent on apps the last weeks and i'm looking forward what special offers christmas will bring to the app store.

  • Just bought the app, anyone else having the audio coming out of the earpiece speaker?
