There are some reports on the BM3 Facebook group that using Lo-Fly Dirt causes crashes, and the fix seems to be delete Lo-Fly Dirt and reinstall.

Oh wow, will try with Objeq and QuatroMod, fingers crossed

I dunno. I had a good two hours of fun with the latest update of BM3 last night. Call me primitive but i enjoyed making noise in the update. 🤪

The new Midi AU routing didn’t bother me. Sure the instrument had to be in KEYS mode to work, but i was able to record my Rozeta Arps just fine to clips and roll those recorded patterns into the timeline. But hey I’m an onward and upward sort of mental model fellow. I don’t subscribe to the sky is falling mental model anymore. Life is too beautiful for that rubbish.

Huh, what? How are you recording Roz now?

    Can you recored Collider?

Just add your Rozeta ARP or Collider to your instrument Bank pad. Set the pad to KEYS mode and play away. If Rozeta ARP is on the Midi FX chain for the instrument it will play. Then create a New Pattern for the instrument, set its length and hit record and play away. Your notes are recorded to the Pattern. Add to timeline. Repeat this process for as many Patterns as you want. 👊🏼™️

You have recorded Collider? (Lets forget arp for now)

I’ll try later today. Just waking up. Time to Meditate 🤫🙏🏼💗

Yah I can use the arp on recorded notes but cant record the arp output.

If you can get Collider recording I will take up meditation.

I can only seem to record the Audio generated from Collider. Can't seem to figure out how to record the Midi notes being generated by Collider. Hrmmm...down the rabbit hole I go :)

Seems that the fix actually involves deleting ANY instance of LFD in any project. Which sounds like a real hassle.

Yah seems to work and I can host BM3 in Cubasis which triggers playback start so win/win. No multilayered Midi Au Fx though... Am looking forward to NS2 which I am pretty sure has Link... BM3 and NS2 may be an awesome combo. BM3 on sample duty, NS2 on synths, heh/yum?

    Haha, I love Larson.

  • Not sure how well this will go down, but I think I've just stumbled across the proper 3.1 beta release notes - which seem to have been abandoned or lost somewhere between March 2018 and yesterday:

I'm glad I did. Does AU MIDI matter to you? Do you use a lot of AU fx/synth apps?

If yes to both then hold off.

I admit my done for good is totally emo and an exaggeration.

I just didn't want to have to go back to Ableton Live and my 2012 macbook. Slow AF...

Just a tad baffled why they're screwing up the basics.

I've got the same Macbook. Last year I swapped out the 500gb drive, popped in a 1TB SSD and doubled the RAM from 4 to 8 GB. It runs better than when I first bought it. Like a new machine.

Oh, mine is MBP I'm just lazy with specifics

    2.2ghz i7, 16gb ram, 256gb SSD.

I made the choice when they become no longer serviceable that I'd never buy another one.

  • @johnfromberkeley said:
Bottom line: should I update or not?

If you have projects that use AUv3 midi that you need to work on, then no. They changed it from working like AUM, where you can route midi freely, to like Cubasis, where you can only use the midi FX on the channel (bank or pad) where it is placed. So projects set up the old way would no longer work. At the very least, you’d want to record the midi from the midi FX into patterns before updating.

Also, you can’t yet record the midi coming out of midi FX apps, so if that’s crucial, then you shouldn’t update yet.

There are some bugs with undo / redo that are apparently getting fixed post-haste.

The transient detection in the sampler is muy bueno, and I’m used to living with not being able to record midi FX output in AUM and Ape Matrix, so I’m not regretting the update. If you live and die by BM3, or are sent into apoplexy by changes or developer methods you don’t agree with, you may not wanna climb out on that ledge.

    Those are pretty speedy specs!

I'll never buy another New MBP given the current pricing. I'll buy either used or refurbed when mine is no longer serviceable.

Me too. Alcohol free night here in Monzo Towers, but might take a sober leap into the reinstallation abyss.

  • I’m running into a similar issue with recording midi from polyplayground. I can hear it controlling the bank I have loaded, but when I hit record in BeatMaker none of the midi is recorded down.

It won't record the MIDI from anything.

Annoying thing is, you can record input notes from the pads but not an external keyboard either!

Here’s a little sketch i did last night while exploring the latest update:

Really loving the Transient detection for setting up samples...i used samples for everything except Zeeon and Model D at the end of the timeline...

I was able to record midi from Quantum just now with no issue.
Are you guys sure the channel is record armed?

[edit] I just recorded midi from my NanoKEY Studio as well.
