Yamaha mobile music sequencer update
Nice new update and arms MMS with all the old Phrases from my QY100 sequencer... brings back memories!

I'm curious about this one. What do you think of this app? Pros and cons.
I notice this has IAPs but does it come with a good bit of stuff right out of the box?
Thanks in advance!!
The update info is a tutorial on how to make a track. Eh? Is the only new thing that $8 expansion pack? It is a 3.0 update, which usually means a bit more then a new extension pack ?
@ChrisG + a chord analysis thingy that listens to incoming audio and displays the chord progressions amongst other new features.
@yowza it is fair to say this app isn't for everyone - what app is? It does come preloaded with sounds and phrases but I jumped straight in and fully loaded it at launch along with all other releases since so it does something for me. It is pretty flexible you can use preset phrases or create your own using grid or keyboard input and the sounds are quite good. I have exported to Auria for processing with great results. You can also record / sequence linear style, you can drag and drop Ableton style and the IAA implementation is solid too. Oh, and it is AudioBus compatible so all in all an app that is overlooked by many. It is fair to say not something I use on a daily basis but definitely worth a look :-)
Thanks.
I also just read in the info something about using Cubasis as a host. Did they update it to act as a IAA node (before it only acted as a IAA host)?
Nm, just tried it with Auria, and it doesn't show up as a node. Oh well, no big loss given how cheesy it sounds
Ha ha, I find a little cheese is good especially with a glass of wine ;-)
The Yamaha apps I always wanted are not on my AppStore, so I don't care, really.
They should review their business.
I love my yamaha rs7000 hardware and though I rarely use it anymore I haven't been able to find anything to replicate their awesome & unique "loop remix" feature, which I notice yamaha has included in this app.
So I'm wondering, does this app allow you to control external soft synths via loop remix. Ex: can you use two input slots in audiobus, using the yamahas sequencer to midi control the other, and record that audio (from say: animoog) in a DAW connected to the audiobus output.
Interesting...
I find this app very interesting and it's IAA implementation, these new features are a welcome addition.
Glad to see Yamaha is moving this forward. Some good concepts in this app, but it always fell short for various reasons for me. It looks like it's time to take another look.
Slightly off-subject, but does anyone know why Yamaha release US and rest of the world versions of some of their apps? Copyright issues maybe? Seem to be the only company doing this.
.
Yamaha is not the only one to do that.
@funjunkie27 - once you wrap your head around everything it's cool. I like that they're not just dumping IAP sound packs in but actually developing new features too. Also, the manual is great and is very easy to understand

Strewth, these jokers must be serious if they've scribbled a copy in Strine!
Just downloaded this due to sale price and at first I thought Wow this is great and very deep with a great IAA implementation and Audiobus to boot and great sequencing options etc..
But then it dawned on me.....there is a SERIOUS problem with the timing on the sequencer playback.
It's more noticeable when you have some busy drum patterns.....the thing just sounds off, kind of like the sequencer has had a few too many whiskeys !
Anyone else notice this or did I get a duff copy ? @Trueyorky @Funjunkie27 ?
It has stopped me using it completely only 20mins into using it and I may ask for my money back...
I haven't noticed that @DaveMagoo. Is there any way you could send a song file you're having problems with, so I can check it out?
I will have a look at the export options...thanks @Funjunkie27
Sorry, no issues either.
I prepped a quick soundcloud mixdown and it can be clearly heard.....let me know if you hear it too to make sure I'm not hearing things that aren't there !
Here's the project link....

@DaveMagoo, I hear it too. It was subtle at first, but once I recognized it I can hear it throughout your mixdown. Seems to be moving around too, so it's not a pattern unto itself. Glad you shared this.
About Yamaha Corp, it's a good company at it's core. They could have been leading in the iOS music space by now. Sad that they seem clumsy at it. Still, I want to share something about their integrity...
I had a Yamaha baby grand for two years, bought new from the factory. Played perfectly, but my piano tuner thought it may have been one of a small series shipped to the US with an epoxy used in the sounding board that was formulated for a different climate (i.e., tropical vs temperate). He was right, and Yamaha was quick to resolve it. I was told they would ship a replacement sounding board, but what arrived two weeks later was a brand new piano...and an upgraded one, at that. With no guarantee that the epoxy would ever fail (and it had not yet), and no questions asked, they replaced my piano with a larger model that was two inches longer. Incredible commitment.
I'm rooting for them.
I wish they had same credibility with with their apps. They just don't.
@DaveMagoo I have to say I don't hear it
When I tap along with the click it stays pretty solidly in time and the little triplet(?) HH rhythmic figure stays consistently in the same place. What are you hearing?
@ploughdeep I have raised it with customer support I just hope it's not the old emperors clothes scenario.
@yowza it's like a subtle delay before the kick triggers most noticeable at around 11,14,18,21 & 26 secs into the pattern.
It just sounds wonky, like if I play a vinyl lp which has been too near the heater and has warped or if I press my finger on the edge of the record player at the intervals above.
Or like when the CPU overloads when multitasking.
Can you hear it @mgmg4871 ?
@DaveMagoo I can definitely hear it. Good luck with customer support. I had a issue with IAA in the US version, and it took so long for them to respond, I forgot I had requested help. Hopefully, they learned something from that fiasco.
