  • @yowza I have done a comparison in bm2 for you to check out....the kits are different but the basic pattern is pretty much the same...

Horrible timing issues on the Yamaha example. I haven't used it that much, and probably never will. But, I'd shoot yamaha an email explaining the issue and provide links to the sound example. If they don't respond, well, screw'em I guess :)

It's such a shame as it is such a feature rich app with all the elements I'm looking for. IAA looks better implemented that in Cubasis and it has automation and Audiobus!

I was hoping to use it particularly for learning how to structure my tracks as it has a cool intuitive almost Ableton like clip/scene launch.

I hope this is a known bug introduced with the update and gets fixed as it may become my go to app.....well see what Yamaha comes back with for now though....maybe a refund ;)

  • I hear it now especially compared to the BM2 example but it's a bit more subtle than a warped record. To me it sounds like the hihat figure in the Yamaha version is not as tight as the BM2, almost not quite quantized (?) which might make the kick pattern sound off. When I tap along with the Yamaha kick it seems in time.

Is this a pattern you programmed in yourself or one of the built in/IAP styles? I bought this app the other day when it went on sale but haven't had time to mess with it yet so I'm interested in whether there's an issue with it. Maybe the sequencer does have timing issues.

@yowza I attached the project in a Dropbox link above please try it and let me know if its my programming...although it was just a basic pattern input the same as in bm2...please prove me wrong and tell me there is a setting I missed :)

Edit: just tried the demo songs and when I mute the other tracks apart from the drums I can hear the same wonky timing, let me know how you get on as otherwise this could be my favourite app if the timing gets fixed....

  • I hear it, but I can't get it to "open in" the Yamaha app. I think I might need to resort to iTunes for that.

Well I got a reply from the Yamaha support team if a somewhat odd one....

"Thank you for your valuable feedback, we appreciate it very much.

We looked into the issue and recreated this problem.
The behavior is by design, but we are currently examining the improvement.
We hope to have the pleasure of serving you again in the near future.

    Yours faithfully,
    Yamaha Customer Support Team"

Hopefully we will see an update/fix in the App Store soon ;)

  • I'm wondering how to assign channels to midi on the midi save.(export)
I'm trying to figure out how to get the drums on channel 10 so they play back as drums in other apps instead of piano.

  • I think the answer you're looking for is "somewhere" in this youtube YMM series

  • Hi guys can Yamaha mobile music sequencer Be used to control other apps on iPad ? And can it be used to control hardware synths and drum machines via midi? Thanks in advance kind regards trey
