What’s wrong with it being “done” if it works? Or are there bugs you’re aware of?

I bought a Subaru Outback 8 years ago. Not once have the b’stards paid a visit to replace the parts and update the trim level.

    Never again.

  • Nothing. You're right @wim. I thought I'd heard something about a stems export issue, but that could easily be my imagination. I guess I'm just doubtful that a point-0 version of anything couldn't use a bit of tidying, but 3.2 was in development for a very long time.

I’m guessing if it gets broke by an os update, it’ll get fixed, but you never know. It did at least get updated to 64 bit so it didn’t die at that deadline.

It still works with some minor issues like AB compatibility not updated. No Link. As a standalone app it’s still pretty solid.

It’s got a great group of synths including 8-bit and FM. The wav editor is top-notch. Well worth $10.

  • This UI makes it a new app for sure. So modern looking. Mixer has to be my favourite addition!

  • Link would be nice. It worked OK in AudioBus last time I used it, but yes, keeping up there would be good too.

  • Link would be great!

Yeah, I always liked the FM Synth. Very easy to work with as everything's on one screen.

Yeah, I always liked the FM Synth. Very easy to work with as everything's on one screen.

And automating the operator’s parameters makes for some serious fun.

  • Any Caustic AUM/Ape Matrix type workflow tips?

Unfortunately Caustic’s IAA compatibility performance record is at a D rating in my books but has a rating as a stand-alone.

the only niggle i have found in the final 3.2 version ( on ios ) is that the Vinylizer effect won’t process a stereo file in the standalone audio editor ... works fine on mono stuff and is aok as insert effect on the mixer... so its really a very very tiny niggle and understandable as Stereo sampling etc was only introduced in 3.2.. so minor i’ve only just clocked it after .. what? .. 2 years of 3.2 usage.. :)
not had any issues with stem export that i can recall..

I love Caustic. Haven't had it too too long (always late to every party) but it is a fantastic environment. I do love these closed systems. For me, the walled in limitations seems to really work. Can't recommend it enough. Would love to see it developed more but I can't say that I've run out of options with it as it is.

I love Caustic.. it's such a clever app..
This new skin is beautiful! Altough I like the default skin a lot, this new skin looks very professional and modern... Thanks Terpki!

  • Awesome skin! Gonna replace the dark one as my favorite

Cool! It may be something I confused with another app.

It really is a great app. It's not perfect, but a lot of it is quite nice. I wish Sub Synth could get a little thicker sounding, but the modular is fine for meaty analog-ish stuff.

If I remember correctly you can only export stems to the internal folders or else one at a time. With Documents app you can access all Caustic folders. It's indispensable for this app in particular IMHO.

Sub is great if you draw your own waveforms or double it up. It often reminds me of my old Roland SH.

I used it with the Adventure Kid waveforms. Unlike Cubasis' sampler (which doesn't seem to like single cycle waveforms), it worked great!

ah yes! i suppose that would flummox people that haven’t got on board with the readdle Docs app ftp transfer trick.. jeeps! there’s so much hidden inside of caustic that it seems comical for anyone to express concern that Caustic’s development might be ‘done’ when their own journey with it is probably only 15% done. they should come back and wag a finger when they have reached the ‘adept’ level ... 18 months of solid delving ... minimum! :)

When I said 'done', I was more concerned with bug fixes and changes forced by the OS. I can't think of much in the way of additional synths that I'd want. Maybe a few more elaborate insert effects?

I know everyone doesn't think this way, but I have a more difficult time committing to an app that seems as if it may be more unlikely to be updated in any way. Of course, I don't know that, and Rej owes me nothing anyway. I hope things are going well for him.

I don't think I've ever run into any bugs. There are some relatively minor OS-based and IAA/Audiobus things that could use an upgrade but don't really get in the way at this point. The fact that he commented on this new skin and mentioned adding it to the app, along with the very close-to-release version mastering app he has created make me wonder if maybe he'll be back on it in 2019. Hell, he's had a year off! :D

Oh yeah! I'd forgotten about the mastering app. It looked pretty nice when I last saw screenshots.
