  • The new skin makes it look way better, and functionally I can see it clearer and the layout is just nice. Thanks for the headsup and to remind me how dope caustic can be, as long as that pattern is set to the longer length... I gorget that little tip sometimes, you know to make it from one short bar to a more normal loop length. Cheers!

  • I prefer to just record in song mode (linear, no bar limit).

For those who wish to oomph up the SubSynth, you can always run it into the Modular via the Machine Input module, where you can put it through the modular’s very nice ladder filter (mute the mixer track for the SubSynth so you only hear it coming through the modular). This costs you two tracks instead of one, of course.

  • I stopped using Caustic because I grew tired of the 1990s VGA graphics. With the new skin I can dabble a little more again. Damn that mixer is a thing of beauty.

not had any issues with stem export that i can recall..

Cool! It may be something I confused with another app.

It really is a great app. It's not perfect, but a lot of it is quite nice. I wish Sub Synth could get a little thicker sounding, but the modular is fine for meaty analog-ish stuff.

If I remember correctly you can only export stems to the internal folders or else one at a time. With Documents app you can access all Caustic folders. It's indispensable for this app in particular IMHO.

Sub is great if you draw your own waveforms or double it up. It often reminds me of my old Roland SH.

ah yes! i suppose that would flummox people that haven’t got on board with the readdle Docs app ftp transfer trick.. jeeps! there’s so much hidden inside of caustic that it seems comical for anyone to express concern that Caustic’s development might be ‘done’ when their own journey with it is probably only 15% done. they should come back and wag a finger when they have reached the ‘adept’ level ... 18 months of solid delving ... minimum! :)

When I said 'done', I was more concerned with bug fixes and changes forced by the OS. I can't think of much in the way of additional synths that I'd want. Maybe a few more elaborate insert effects?

I know everyone doesn't think this way, but I have a more difficult time committing to an app that seems as if it may be more unlikely to be updated in any way. Of course, I don't know that, and Rej owes me nothing anyway. I hope things are going well for him.

yeah, sorry. I did not mean that towards anyone individually and certainly not yr bad self just the general hoi polloi in the background.. it just so happened that the word ‘done’ was the last thing that went in my mind and, hence, the first thing to come out of it!! I certainly appreciate anyones concern over Caustic upkeep.. though i have ( surprisingly ) experienced no problems ... though i am still on ios 11.4.1 and i have an ipad with ios 10.3 with caustic fully loaded to keep the legacy alive!! :)
would love to hear from anyone using it regularly on ios 12 .. just to put my mind at rest when the time comes..
meantime.. any sign of life from Rej is most welcome.. and the new skin is lovely ,, so glad Terpki put the modular labelling in there.. there is a version of the original skin ( which i still love too ) with discreet labeling on the modular that I made a few years back and posted on the singlecell forum..

    thanks... very reassuring..

  • I'm on a mini 2 and OS12 I was using Caustic 3 last night, stable as always.

  • I feel like caustic is one of those apps that is just better on an android. It runs on everything!
