Which iOS synths can do hard sync?

Choose any of the "sync" algorithms in SynthMaster One and there you go. Doesnt require a second oscillator!

Poison-202 can do pretty mean sync as well and has dedicated pitch-envelope per oscillator making it easy to do sounds similar to those in the linked video.

I think part of the 'charm' of the sounds in the linked videos is the control of the 'Envelope->VCO2 Pitch' using the mod-wheel and also the the filter on the Pro One.

How does Poison-202 sound generally? It is tempting.

Plenty of videos on it on youtube :)

I believe it is modelled after a Roland keyboard, certainly it has a lot of similarities to my (hardware) Roland Gaia. I find it easy to program and very versatile. It is a little different from many synths in that usually the oscillators are summed before passing through the filter and amp, while on the Poison you have two complete osc-filter-amp pipelines in parallel, which allows you to achieve sounds not possible with the other architecture. That is similar to how the CS-80 worked, so it has a good pedigree! I can recommend it.

Don't know if it has been mentioned but Reason Compact's Europa has quite a variety of oscillator sync and folding options. Half price at the moment as well..

Tx, for the tip. I've heard such wildly different opinions about it that I haven't looked into it yet. Should I?

AUv3 does not work here, only IAA, and you cannot even use the app without registering.
Dunno if it works offline at all.

    Great info. Thanks!

@kv331audio_bulent : can you describe a bit about how the sync works and what parameters influence the generated harmonics? I understand how classic hard sync works and how to influence its harmonics via the relationship of the slave and master frequencies. @Samu mentioned manipulating the phase in SM1. Anything else?

Can you say a little about what the windowing options do? The docs refer to a secret LFO I think.

  • Interesting thread. Thanks starting it.

  • @espiegel123 hard-sync, I get it now. Thanks for the explanation.
