I will NEVER, EVER attempt to use my pitch bend wheel *on a saxophone patch.. NEVER!

  • I'll never buy any apps that I will never use.

  • I’m not buying any new apps this year, just fishing tackle :)

I am terribly guilty of this (hangs head in shame). I know it’s sinful, but it’s so sneakily pleasureable

  • Quitting smoking. The pack is down to three and I've been up all night nervous about it and smoking.

A fine resolution. I'll join you with that.

Quitting smoking is only hard the first day. Find another stress release, chewing gum and herbal lozenges did the trick for me... smoking always tastes disgusting after you’ve had some kind of breath freshener and it’s impossible with gum in your mouth B)

Two three days and the habit will be broken... of course you’ll need to keep a smoke around for when you have some kind of ’crisis’ but the trick is to delay delay delay and find other means of coping and rewarding.

    IMHO

For me, in all seriousness, 2018 was all about getting out of loop based house music into something more meaningful.

Last year I tried teaching myself the piano on a Korg Microkey 61. While it wasn’t a complete waste of time and money, the action is so light and the keys are so small, you can’t really perform with it. Certainly you can program notes into a sequencer with it... anyhow I’ve got my heart set on the Roland FP30 the only Bluetooth midi keyboard with full sized weighted hammer action keys and ivory touch, and best of all it’s priced below competitor keyboards with better specs!

So 2019, new gear and better compositions.

I also hope to release something full length using Groove Rider, Nano Studio, Gadget of course, and Cubasis.

  • to dig deep into apps which I already have instead of buying new

  • 2019 - listen to less news, and listen to more music.

Post at least one tune, of a complete nature, on this forum.

  • @oat_phipps the year will go by and those of us left alive will be talking about what we expect/hope for in 2020. Do the same as a non-smoker. Seriously, if you do nothing else this year, this week, now, commit and do this. There's little else that you in the future is begging you for right now. Good luck.

  • @oat_phipps sending you positive vibes to quit the cigs. It's hard but so worth it to get to the other side.

@LucidMusicInc so glad to hear of your musical transformation. I spent 2018 moving from loops to more organic compositions (still sample-based but off the grid!) and am having a creative renaissance as a result. Wishing you luck in your journey!

To frivolously spend my xmas iTunes cards when I should be saving them for Fabfilters and Synthmaster One packs, viva la fuck it!

If OP was smoking a pack a day at an estimated $10 USD, (in Canada cigarettes were taxed as high as $15 in some cities when I quit almost 10 years ago) OP will be saving considerably more than just a few minutes of life.

I've done it for 10 years, I can no longer sing well and hit the high notes like the proud tenor I used to be, and, most importantly, sometime in the last year I stopped enjoying it. I tried quitting last year and was successful for a few weeks, but the truth was I still enjoyed it, as perverse as they may sound to some.

And yes, I was paying $7 a day for a pack (they're cheaper here in Memphis and Arkansas than any place I know). I always hated doing the math, so I won't.

Sorry to derail your thread OP, thanks for the moral support everybody.

  • While trying to quit smoking, some individuals won't be tuff enuff to stand the side effects or the strong lust for a cig. I've watched more than 30 friends quitting cig smoking and my little summary is that people have a much higher chance of being successful by switching to e-cigarettes and quality liquid first, including enough nicotine contained in the liquid (usually 8-18mg per litre of PG or PG+VG) to limit the uncontrollable desire. Cigs from packs not only make you addicted from the nicotine contained, but it's a lot more (do some research if you're interested).
By switching to e-cigs, you can reduce the cocktail to nicotine only and it's usually much easier to quit from nicotine than from the deadly cocktail today's cigs are manufactured with.

I would say it's more a probability to reduce your life. Some people get to 90 yo and smoked almost their entire life and others die of cancer after two decades of cigarettes. It's the divine lottery. Genes are bitches, you know.

  • I was not going to get hyped for or buy new apps, but Reggae Drummer is breaking that promise to myself already.

Good luck to everyone with your missions !

Make a video featuring how Im using iPad with my band. ...Started filming yesterday.

Write new songs starting on iPad. By 'on iPad' I mean, I am mainly a singer/guitar player and have always started with a riff or progression on guitar.

Thank's both - didn't want to derail the thread though - but packing in the ciggies is a good resolution to make.
