Even though I do own it, ive not got it on my iPad at this time, or used it enough. I think someone else will have to tackle this one
I really love this Synth also!
I think @flo26 had created an awesome bank where he imported electric guitar sounds; I really wish I had a copy of those. I might just end up making it myself but gotta learn. So glad my iPad is finally fixed
Sorry,but it’s not me.😉
Have fun and happy new year!
Why don’t we talk about this more? I love it.
As @LinearLineman was singing the praises of @Spidericemidas presets... I recalled this beauty that he created a lovely set for.
It's IAA I think, right? It's super for spacey ambient or Ambien space-outs as I recall. Who wants to make something?
I've tried many times and followed the manual/ videos etc but I've never got it to do what I think it should do. I know it's me but.....Might give it another go now I'm a bit more knowledgeable about such things. thanks for the reminder.
Great app, was my first stop go to for pads for quite sometime.
Ahhh Mitosynth. I can’t rate it highly enough! My favourite synth. Every ambient jam I tinker with in AUM has an instance of Mito. I even sampled it and used many of its sounds in my Gadget tracks via Bilbao, Vancouver and Zurich.
Funnily enough I was talking with Canis about it again just a few days ago. It seems some people on iOS14 can no longer get it running in Cubasis as an IAA. Think it still runs as IAA in AUM on 14, but it’s not happy in Cubasis. Unfortunately I don’t think Canis can devote any more time and resources on addressing the Cubasis issue. Mitosynth may soon disappear and be forgotten because its coding is too old and incompatible with the constant barrage of new iOS updates and the slow phasing out of IAA. It would need a complete re-write!
That’s why I’m staying on iOS13 now. I can’t do without Mito. It’s too good to lose! On 13 I can still run it in Cubasis 2 as IAA and record it as audio tracks, which means I can unplug it after each audio track and plug it into another audio track to have more instances of it in a recording.
There’s nothing else like Mito on iOS. Can’t believe it was released in 2014! So advanced for its time. Amazing synth! One to treasure and hang onto!
@Spidericemidas What are your favorite synths that SUPPORT IOS 14 because I try to stay current.
Continua maybe?
oh man...we need a kick starter to donate to him to re write mito into an auv3 😎 i’ll donate
I like the Icegear range of synths. They seem to receive regular maintenance. I noticed they all have iOS14 updates still pending in my list. I think Lagrange is their best one. Lots of good stuff still to be discovered in that one, I think.
Continua and SB Factory are both very interesting and capable. Still need to carry on with a bank for Factory. Quite a wild beast to tame!
Bleass Alpha is great. I’d like to see more routings made available in the mod matrix/sequencer for that one.
I’m assuming LayR still works on iOS14. Now that is a beast with a lovely warm sound. I still need to continue with my bank for that one at some point!
I’m dabbling with Yonac’s Kaspar again at the moment. That’s a pretty interesting one with 8 synth layers!
I think Mela has loads of programming potential too. The mod matrix in that one is enormous and has an amazing selection of routings. I never see or hear much about it. Don’t know if there are any user banks available for it. Seems to be just sitting there quietly in the background at the moment waiting for recognition and a chance in the spotlight. It’s fairly new, so I assume it runs fine on iOS14. I think it could be made to shine.
And of course, Synthmaster One! I’ve yet to dive into that one. No need, really. So many good presets available for it already. It’s got everything pretty much covered.
Personally I still have a fondness for the oldies like Mito and Nave.
Heh, yeah I know! It’s coded in Objective-C, not Swift. It also uses an audio engine that was discontinued 4 years ago! Would take at least 6 months solid work to re-write it for AUv3, apparantly! The mind boggles!
Love mitosynth, especially as it is universal!
Super presets around too!
🕷 et al!
6 months sheesh!! well i still support it 😂😂
I agree that Mitosynth is one of the most interesting and unique synths on iOS and even what I can get on a Mac. At the same time its so sad that its another example that some of these most unique iOS music apps seems abandoned and no one knows if it survives the next major OS update.
I spent hours recording instrument samples from Thumbjam and copying them to Mitosynth back in the day. I forget the engine mode, but that one that was a matrix of samples and/or waveforms was brilliant. I rarely touch IAA these days, but many fond memories of this app. Sad to see some of the old greats biting the dust.
I must be lucky. Mitosynth runs fine on my air2 running ios 14.4 using cubasis 3.
Sometimes mitosynth crashes because my ipad runs out of memory.
Hi @tja,
Unfortunately I'm not equipped with Mitosyth.
IAA allows to route audio, MIDI and effects between Cubasis (host) and compatible node apps in realtime.
There are three basic types of nodes:
• Effects can be set as insert or send effects
• Instruments are assigned to a MIDI track and automatically receive MIDI from Cubasis
• Generators are inputs for audio tracks
It depends on the app manufacturer what type of nodes are available.
Please check what type of node is supported by the 3rd party app.
It might be required to create an audio track instead of a MIDI track, if the app supports to be assigned as a "Generator" only.
Sugest to drop the app vendor a note about this.
Hi @Proto,
How did you manage to load Mitosynth with Cubasis? Could you share the steps, to support @tja here?
Best,
Lars
@Spidericemidas : a bid for unique talents to be turned towards Mela.. I agree with you, it seems oddly overlooked. It doesn’t look that exciting on the App Store, just another me-too, but it sounds absolutely fantastic, and the deep integration of effects makes it a preset warpers delight. Love to see something that stretches it... mind, I’ve got Kasper too...
Sure
Finished
Mitosynth is indeed brilliant but sadly another abandoned unique iOS app.
Makes me sad.
I agree. and the only synth that feels like it came from the future. I hope more developers would take a look at mitosynth and learn a lesson how you can create a synth that is perfectly optimized for using a touch screen.
@Spidericemidas — did you ever complete the making of those presets for Layr? I'd LOVE that!
As much as I’d love to see an update to Mitosynth… in defense of the app, I just spent time with it again after completely forgetting I had it… and it’s STILL just as brilliant and works as flawlessly as it did when I bought it many years ago.
I’m running the latest iOS and there were absolutely no hiccups at all. Works perfectly on iPhone too.
This is quite impressive as I can’t recall even a maintenance update in several years. This seems nearly unheard of these days. Bravo to this developer!
My favorite synth.
What happens if you plug it into Cubasis2? I'd be very interested to know.
sly dog. it all depends on who is doing the plugging in...
am i wrong or isnt this the 4 year anniversary for two extraordinary preset banks you created for this monster instrument? (presets which are even more heavenly and/or face melting now then they were then, banks i use to this day and which can still be found right here on the AB forum with a simple search).
4 years?! That's scary.
I wanted to do more for Mito, it's superb for evolving atmospheric scapes and hybrid sounds being able to import foley samples and natural sounds mixed with the inbuilt synth engine, but after iOS14 appeared, some people including Doug & Jo at TSTR started reporting that it had stopped working in Cubasis.
I wrote to Canis at Wooji at the time, and he said he couldn't afford anymore time and resources to keep updating it. So I gave up and didn't make anything else for it. I've kept my iPad on iOS13 since then for fear of losing Mito in Cubasis as it's a really important synth to me.
im still able to open it, in Cubasis 3, if that indicates anything. i think like Cubasis 2, It opens in that alternative method as its not on the IAA list. Its accessible from the "Input" pulldown for Audio tracks, then appears in the "Midi Out" pulldown on the Midi Tracks...
This on 16.x. I see why youasked about Cubasis 2, to get a accurate assesment of comparabilty you might have to query as a separate post.
