Version 1.0.15 is out:
Much smooth. Very declicking. Wow. We have done a lot of work to minimize edge- and corner-case clicking, principally in the Sectors. You will find that, in general, the Sector features work much better, and there will be no (or minimal, in the case of legato source material) clicks when resizing and moving sectors while playback is occuring.
Settings were not recalled correctly when restoring a session in some hosts. This has been fixed.
MIDI notes added as sources in the CC Control section. You can now assign a MIDI note to a momentary button the same way you would a controller button.
In all quantization modes, the playback and record speed controls now go towards zero when clicking or dragging down, and away from zero when clicking or dragging up. There were some differences of opinion with respect to the various speed quantizations, and this has been remedied.
The main mode quantization now affects every momentary button except Trigger and Overdub. What this means: sector switching, RTZ, and sector clear will now respect the quantization. So if you have it set to quarter notes, your sector will switch on the beat.
A whole heap of small bug fixes, improvements, and optimizations.
Factory presets added back to the iOS version. They somehow got kicked out of bed in the multiple updates that platform needed.
Chris‘ ENSO walkthrough (40+ Min) Video is golden and was an amazing intro to the plugin.
Trying out Enso again, it looks like both of my previous issues are still present (at least in AUM). Overall the synchronization has improved though! As long as you don't stop Enso and then try to restart the loop, it seems to stay in time. Seems to handle bpm changes pretty well too. Even though its not perfect, honestly its better than a $200 EHX 1440 pedal for synced looping.
ya it is! re watched it a few times!
ok bought Enso now they updated it without the clicks
Working well overall. A couple of issues:
But seems to be a great update otherwise.
That second one is simply something that you have to get used to with MIDI. Because the original MIDI Spec didn't specify an octave numbering scheme, different apps and hardware can report different octaves.
Still hearing frequent clicking (almost 100% reproducible) when:
Also, the new vertical scrolling long press and drag behaviour sometimes creates some very odd outcomes with the record speed control. If it’s set to 1.00 reverse direction, I drag up to scroll to 0 and keep going past 0 and, in one case, the record head simply stopped moving and I could not get it going again. Will try to reproduce.
Audio Damage contacted.
Can anyone reproduce?
Often when I open an AUM session containing Enso, it is dead right out of the box. Then I re-load the AUM session and it is working again. If I didn’t do that I would have lost the buffers. Anyone else had this problem since the new update?
This doesn't answer your question, but in the new update I have had the record speed control go crazy on me in AUM so that no matter how much I scrolled up or down, the recording head ground to a halt and could not be made to move without removing Enso and reloading it.
Wow, email them. I just sent them a message. I pretty disappointed that after the much hyped recent update I'm still finding this unstable. @craftycurate
This has been the case right from release. I tend to save the buffer straight away to avoid this.
Already done! Found a couple of other things e.g. always get a click when when playhead passes record head (esp in opposite directions), or when playhead passes sector endpoints if length is 360.
Yes, I also got this problem before, I just wanted to clarify that I was asking if ppl are still getting it since the update. Super damn annoying.
I have a configuration file in AUM that loads 4 instances of Enso with the buffer empty. Before it works properly I have to hit the clear button, you know that x, on a track before I’m able to use it. I like the long buffer on by default and I like the feedback at 100%, and I have my iRig controlling each track separately. This is a temp workaround, but yeah somethings going on. If I save it with something in the buffer, it works okay for me...go figure. 2020 iPad Pro.
I'm getting exactly the same. Sector=360, recording continuously (no starts, stops). Despite all the reasons I love Enso (I have three instances), this is a real drawback. I don't use sectors at all because of the clicks.
Enso crashes sometimes. Not often. I did learn from experience that restarting AUM reinstates the Enso settings. I save AUM a lot for this reason.

Not getting clicks here but always recording blank loops first, then overdubbing.
