It's a free update.
It was promised in February; it was delivered in February.
It now has integrated midi out.
I'm sorry that the new jerseys are a different shade of apparently very upsetting blue.
The blue is quite ugly. The previous color scheme was perfect. The new blue I'll have to live with but yeah, Korg is a company like Apple that tries to "be different," and comes off pretentious with some ideas that are just bad. But like Apple, I can't live without either of these companies.
False. I'm an iPhone user. If I don't have an iPad, How to I get the gadgets? If I had an iPad why would I need an iPhone?
Raises his miserable and unhappy hand..
Apart from the disappointment with the new colour scheme and the almost total lack of workflow improvements it’s not a bad update. The midi out is nice to have and the timing seems to be ok in my quick tests. The new auto rhythm pad thing for the drum gadgets is great for quickly getting some complex beats going. The new FX are very good and can really enhance the sound.
I'm watching this, too, but it looks like those of us who bought Gadget Mac at a reduced price pay $99. When I apply my coupon, the price doesn't change. Kinda blows, but such is life, I guess.
Regarding the coupon code, you get it when you log into your Korg account here:

Great question.
$49 is a go.
$99 pass
If all apps go Universal will I need both?
You have to have Gadget open on iPad to do this.
Oh-kay, nobody cared for my little question, which is totally understandable in this „is it a worthy update“-frenzy, so I‘ll try again:
As I just purchased iMS-20, here‘s a question: The presets that „Memphis“ contains in Gadget are not accessible in the standalone version of iMS-20, right? Or am I doing something wrong?
99 for me, presuming it’s because I bought at a discount but it does state ‘Fill this code at korg.shop to get the special price’ which is misleading — a special price of no difference! For someone who has the desktop version only to use the VSTs it’s quite a pill to swallow 🙄
Hi, new to this forum. My question - can you still fully open / play Gadget 1 projects in Gadget 2? Thank you
@branisOk cheers
@rs2000 ok thanks for info
I’ve sent a message to KORG about this. I’m in the same boat. I’d pay $49 for sure, but $99 is a hesitation.
The previous color scheme always reminded me a bit of the old Borland IDEs (Turbo C) :)
Not gonna lie, I lol'ed...
Yeah, I think offering a coupon that doesn't actually do anything isn't a good look. I'm going to wait to see what develops, but I've already upgraded my iPad to v.2, so if I want compatibility, I'll have to bite the bullet at some point.
Yup.
Well these new/old Gadgets are a super treat. Never did get much use out of them before but now with the sweet automation / fun fx it makes for great BM3 samplages. Cool on Korg to breath new life into old purchases. I'll lighten up on them now. ;)
have you downloaded the ims-20 and polysix updates and rebooted? If you do that the corresponding gadgets should become available.
I'm interested to hear what they have to say. If you don't mind, please tag me when you get a response. Thanks, @Seangarland!
Will do. I just tried applying the coupon, and I get no discount at all. Still $99. Really poorly executed.
So you could make phone calls?
😛
It is also odd that you can't even by Gadget for Mac right now. It is "out of stock."
Love KORG, love Gadget, but this rollout was poorly executed.
So where is this FREE PC Gadget Plugin that was promised? I am seeing a $149 price tag and it’s totally confusing..
In all honesty both the MS20 and Polysix emulations sound thin by modern standards (they were coded in the early days of plugin instruments). They compare especially badly to the Odyssey emulation (which goes toe to toe with the best of the desktop VA plugins, never mind iOS ones).
If I had to pick one at sale price, it would be the PolySix simply because it's more versatile and is great for pads/stings/keys (in a mix, you'd need keen ears to hear the difference in quality). It's FX ain't so bad either. Plus it was coded long after the MS20 emulation, so it compares better by modern standards. The Unison is of a reasonable standard too; not a touch on the Odyssey's outstanding Unison but it definitely makes the PolySix sound a little 'fatter'.
That may sound a little harsh but I'd say it's fair too. But having said that, I've never seen Gadget's strength being the quality of its emulations. Much like Propellerheads Reason on the desktop, I think Gadget's strength is that it provides reasonable quality sonics with super efficient DSP. And neither the MS20 or the PolySix emulations will tax a modern iOS device so I'm definitely happy to have them both available on my iPhone which I use as more of a sketchpad than serious production device.
Shout out to Korg, thanks for the FREE update
thank you for the continued free updates
you cant please everyone and some of y’all sound like you should stick to Desktop production if things are too limited on iOS
party on Wayne, Party on Garth
Counterpoint: There are some of us who use both, and didn’t get a free upgrade for Mac, and are actually paying $99.
thanks for the info on the ms20 and polysix, don't have either and am itching to pick one up. i do love iodessei. was leaning towards ms20, especially with the audio in and since the polysix seems to overlap with the imonopoly (which i have and like as well, but prefer oddysei). i think i'll hold off for now.
