Thank you.
My vote is that this update contains significant value for improved workflow. Fades have been a real pain for me. Just tried it, brilliant.
My next favorite improvement is the included drum grooves/clips with variable controller. With it gadget takes away my favorite GarageBand advantage.
And for free! Take that Ableton!
In the month I've been using Gadget it's been stock everything. With the discount I'm eyeing a bunch of the add ons. Would very much appreciate hearing what's added the most value for other people. I do mostly Defcon/headspace type stuff.
Man between Reason and Gadget, I'm sorry, but is there really a decision to be made? The timing is pretty funny I laughed out loud. I mean, unless you're like a really hardcore mobile user, I can't really see any reason for getting the Mac version of Gadget? Maybe for the Gadgets as VSTs cause you also use another desktop DAW? But then you wouldn't really be a hardcore (read: exclusively) mobile user?
I dunno. Like for me, I had Reason, it's great, I love it, but I find myself exclusively using my iPad/iPhone near 100% of the time for music production stuff.
Anywho, just my two pence doesn't really matter. But yeah, props to the Props on their timing 😂
Wow! All that hype for a few "enhancements" that should have been part of the software since Day One.
Yawn.
OTOH, I reckon it's worth every penny of the $0.00 (for iOS users).
Well hopefully this is the first of many updates and goodies.
Wow that’s really cool that they allowed the old ims-20 in. I thought I’d have to unleash my wallet on it but no, sweet surprise.
Great, I don’t like waste. ;)
PM if you get an answer!
says $199
for that I would just get Logic at this point. Lol
Maybe mine doesn’t sound as good as other models...entirely possible I guess.
I bought mine in....oooh....1979 I think. One of the first things I did when I got my iPad 2, was to buy the iMS20, plug it in alongside my hardware and see how close it was. Through an amp I couldn’t tell the difference. Then again my ears are hardly up to scratch these days...
I'm seeing from several comments that sympathy for iPhone users runs shallow in this forum.........
This pretty much sums up my feelings. I'll add to it that it also further shows that Korg is becoming less and less supportive of iPhone users.
Gadget on iphone is too tiny for me i deleted it off there and just kept it on ipad
Yeah, unfortunately I find that for many companies except for guys like Bram and Kai.
They always are inclusive of iPhone users.
The biggest issue i have overall with korg on gadget is the weird things that have taken place with different gadgets, like why do they all have some of the effects but not all. Some of them have to be out on the iphone in some weird painful manner while others not?! Its like different people work on this and theres not much consistant workflow areas?!
I'm still undecided wether to delete it from my iPhone 8 or not... It is _very_ 'microscopic' and barely usable at least when compared to GarageBand. It does work well as a 'sound module' but that's about it...
I’ve not found a way to move .rx2 files - the files app won’t let me move them. Even the one inside the Gadget folder will not move to a sub folder, even though they do show the green + icon in the Files app - they just don’t move.
But for .wav files it’s great, because you can create your complete sample library inside the User Samples folders, and then use search to filter to for example your 120 bpm folder. It seems to work great, but so for not for .rx2 files.
I had no problems moving the *.rx2 files into a dedicated folder but I did not try to move all of them at once but maybe 10 or so at a time. Selecting more than 10 or so files at once caused Files.app to bail on the move/copy operation :)
Copying folders with full of *.wav files to Gadgets folder using Files.app works very well though.
Once the Korg Dev drops into this thread we'll likely get some explanations or 'news'.
I'm waiting for the remaining Taito & Sega Gadgets...
Strange, they just won’t move for me. I’ve tried dragging them one or multiple at a time, and also using select, then move - but the move button is inactive when the folder is inside the Gadget folder - very strange. Also annoying I can’t see the folder on my Mac.
I'm using local storage on the iPad, maybe that's why it's working for me?!
Probably, I have everything in iCloud - actually not sure how to switch between them for samples.
The rx2 files I can see in Stockholm are all in the Korg Gadget -> User Samples folder in iCloud Drive.
Not sure what the iPhone reference is about??? All of the new features and gadgets are working just fine on my iPhone. Some you have to do a "remote install" for between iPad and iPhone, but it all works.
Ok, I keep my *.rx2 and other files in the 'Gadget 2' folder 'On My iPad' in Files.app.
SubFolders work for *.wav but *.rx2 files have to be kept at the root level.(ie. directly under 'Gadget 2').
Do Memphis and Pompeii show up on the iPhone? Because the standalone apps are iPad only, I believe.
They do, but I had to do a 'restore' before they showed up. After that I was able to do the remote install on the iPhone 8.
That’s the same in the iCloud folder, they need to be in the root of the User Samples - but there I can’t move them (maybe so I can’t mess it up? - maybe a bug).
Would be nice if they worked like the .wav files :(
Thanks!
But seriously, where do I find the amp ADSR in Pompei?
Agreed, and even better if 'Export' would allow export to a user-selectable folder in the Gadget folder (and also allow re-naming of the exported files). Still hoping we'll see some improvements to export (ie. export selected track / scene or 'time' start bar/beat - end bart/beat). This would make re-sampling a lot smoother.
The iMS-20 Gadget already allows piping audio from any-track so the I guess it's just a matter of time before Rosario, Zurich and the Bass Gadget get audio-input from any track in addition to hardware audio-inputs.
Imagine Vancouver & Bilbao being able to do internal re-sampling, now that would be a blast :)
I’m feeling this update, I like the new Gadgets, and I’m reslly happy to be able to use IMS-20 and IPolysix with Gadget, I had stopped using both for a while now, and even though I paid full price for both a few years ago, they kinda feel new again just because I have them as Gadgets now and it somehow feels like I got a bigger free update . I’m digging the new effects too, the saturation fx is nice and the fa reverb is doing some nice freaky stuff on a track I’m kicking around. I don’t really use it on my iPhone much, the screen is just too small for me but it’s great on the iPad imo.
cant really say the overall recording work has improved for me as far as the sequencer goes, still some things I wish was there. At this point I try not to get my hopes too high as far as anything being that game changer anymore, the few apps I thought might be game changers just weren’t. Overall I like it.
Bottom pic. Right under the name
That's the filter envelope, not the amp envelope, right?
