I would really love an AU implementation....
i imagine recording stuff on the go (loopfield comes to mind) and use them in my jams in AUM. Cool beans,... or what? ;)
Stupid question - are there any built in samples? I wanna throw a couple bucks at this because 1) It's a PO33 app - AWESOME and 2) You're here! And responsive. Awesome! But, on the flip side, finding time to record samples to play around will be difficult at best.
Yes, but only as an IAA generator (not an instrument). You can load it up in AUM through AB3 output, too.
@icsleepers No built in samples, as it stands - however, the microphone effects allow you to drastically change any incoming sound, to make it sound like it's not come in through the microphone - also the "MORE BASS" and "MORE TREBLE" effects have built-in compression/transient shaping to create drum like percussive sounds.
You can basically sample any old thing and transform it into something interesting - if you start resampling the sound through more effects you can go all spirograph on it.
Ok cool - SOLD. Perhaps I will sample my PO-33 into it which was sampled from iOS apps 🤯snakes eats tail and all that.
Super fun and easy to use! Nice design too.
what is the difference in functionality between iaa generator and instrument ?
does this mean it can only be recorded into? but not send audio back out?
Agree with this. I don’t have this yet, and although I get the desire for all AUv3, there are apps I have that are AUv3 and IAA, yet I actually prefer their use in IAA standalone mode.
i don’t think every app must be AU, thought it’s nice when you have a choice.
Thinking of RE-1 and KB-1. Sometimes I use them in AUv3 and other times using them in IAA standalone makes more sense for me.
Generator just pipes in audio. Instrument can be controlled using the hosts Midi and IAA types of sync usually.
Generator can still be controlled by Midi, depending on the app, but you usually have to work through the app’s midi settings, almost like it is in standalone mode.
If I understand correctly, this app can record from the mic only, and can be loaded in as an input only. So it does send audio out to the host, but can’t receive audio from the host, just the mic.
Great info. That is some cool stuff for a mere $3. I’m in.
That’s cool, if it can be loaded into the AUM top slot, I could record the audio output.
I just confirmed that you can record the audio output from loading it in the top slot. The transport can't be controlled from AUM, but you can move to the app, hit play and then record in AUM and it ends up in AS per usual.
so is ipad mic the only way to get audio into the app?
@elf_audio Sample import and Landscape Mode please having to turn a iPad 90 degrees becomes a pain after a while. Downloaded as believe in supporting indie devs. Getting crackling on recording via iPad mic latest iOS iPad Pro 9.7.
@elf_audio Ok deleted Koala reinstalled and that got rid of the crackles when recording strange mist of been a blip! The sequencing is fun can see a future for this app if it grows with the times.
AUM or Audiobus and Koala transport are synced via Link start/stop, works perfectly here.
Ah ok cheers, that’s a tick.
Shame it’s just mic recordings though. Probably get it anyway as it’s only three quid.
How does this compare to Samplebot?
For one, Samplebot allows audio import (via copy paste)
There's also a bit more to the sequencer. I’d say Samplebot is a bit more for making entire songs as a opposed to creating a groove and performing it. Just my opinion.
Bought it to support the developer.
Hoping for audio import. I have 3 kids, 5 parrots screaming around. Recording nice clean sounds is almost no option ;)
the help option links to an empty webpage.
In the sequencer, you can see a mini piano roll. My Brain says double tap to edit :) Can we edit a sequence afterwards? Or must we do a re-take?
@elf_audio What a fun app! Great release. I have some feature requests:
I really dig the design and simplicity of the app. Great fun to be had with this one. Looking forward to future development!
Bought. With audio import coming according to dev-this app will be even more fun. Nice work!
#3 in this list is really important! I have had two instances today in playing around with the app that I needed two hands to make the sound--and I couldn't manage it by having to hold the pad to record.
I'm going to say what our polite dev is thinking: Any of you guys who are having your full three dollars worth and having fun with this well-designed piece of work that's full of potential, do please take a sec and leave a nice review. Helps spread the word and is great game theory as regards helping scare up future development dollars :)
Samplebot has some advantages, as @audiblevideo states. However, I LOVE the ability to play samples chromatically (or in several scales that are available) in this app. It really opens it up in terms of melodic capabilities relative to other apps like this.
Cheers guys, both good points.
Not balking at paying three quid, just like to avoid duplication, and the fact I’m not using Samplebot (though I do think it’s a great app), or recently purchased Loopfield.
This looks like a good combo between the two though, so might click, and for three quid it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t. Probably a Friday night special - off to fiddle with the Gadget update now...
Agreed, a very nice developer. Also, a really interesting g website to check out on this app. I really think this app is going to be a big one once the audio in options get developed.
Oh man, this app is so much fun. It reminds me of a Roland Sp202, I once had. I hope something like midi learn will be coming, would love to jam with some pad controller.
This is dumb, but I'm hoping it'll show @MonzoPro what is possible in no time flat. I created this little thing in ten minutes using a short voice sample from a news web site, a plunk on the side of a space heater, and a finger scraping over the grill of the same heater. Three samples. But with the keyboard and FX, can get all kinds of crazy stuff going in no time flat. Obviously this wasn't mastered or even thought about more than five minutes (recorded straight to AudioShare) so grain of salt, etc.
