Help me please. Are you the software developer? The app is written. It works on the latest iOS. Some have reported that it doesn’t work on iPad pro 2018. Is that really true, and if yes why does it not work on that particular model only? All I am saying is that this could be a bug, or not. It can be solved in 1h. Or maybe one day. Judging your answer you seem to think it would take days, or weeks. Please explain.
@espiegel123 Samplr does not show up in the system settings on my iPad(Pro 12.9 2nd gen 2017), so it is not possible to enable or disable the microphone manually.
As an Apple employee they are allowed to maintain functionality of the app just no new features.
If Apple steals it from us and ruins it like Alchemy that will be a real injustice.
Fuck Apple.
Fuck Garageband.
Sorry.
Ok i just bought Samplr will check if the in built Sampler works on my Air2 . I just checked for Microphone on Settings and can not see a microphone On option so lets see what happens Also when I done first launch it never asked to access micophone Busy at moment but will see if it works in a short while
@stormbeats That's just what I said 2 posts ago.......
Oh well just tried to record on Air2 iOS 12.1.1 and it never worked . Not happy
And there is no settings to allow to use Microphone :-(
@pierre yes indeed Will try on my 1st Gen Pro which has the same iOS - thats really bad though and if this is the case its not really Apples fault is it. The dev needs to update. Iam always in support of devs but in this case the App needs updating. Fair is fair
I did say above but suppose you had to try it. At least you’ve confirmed for me it wasn’t my setup. Ta.
@ajmiller no worries I more want to sample import and experiment
SamplR is true vintage and never had any input options.
Back then they just used whatever was system input 1, which usually was the microphone, but some apps (SamplR among them) accepted the first 2 interface channels as well.
Imho it's not a show stopper as recording and precise stopping in SamplR isn't that easy anyway.
I usually record with AUM and have Audioshare open on the current recording directory.
If a section is captured, I switch to Audioshare, open the file and apply 'trim and fade'.
Then I send it to SamplR by 'open with...', where it will land in the first empty slot (if there are empty slots), otherwise it will replace whatever is in the current slot.
You could as well just use Audioshare (or another audio editor) for both recording and sending, but Audioshare doesn't select hardware input channels. It should cure the 'microphone refused' problem, though.
May read a bit clumpsy, but is actually quite convenient in real life id you arranged the apps in a way that they can be quickly tapped.
@Telefunky true words and a good workaround
Hoping that Samplr gets baked into GB is totally misguided. The moment this happens the standalone version gets properly abandoned.
Only in the very beginning I recorded a few samples in SamplR itself, then switched to feeding it files from elsewhere.
You may also check the rightmost button of the grid setting row. It will unlock the trigger lines so you can move them on the waveform and you can tap/add more triggers.
It allows very interesting rhythm or even melody creations.
If you tap the unlock grid button again, the grid will be locked against accidental changes.
Tapping a numbered option will immediately erase your own creation, so watch out if you built something great.
Imho it's a cool alternative to slicing and triggering 'samples' the classic way.
@Telefunky ok cheers for the info
Even if the recording doesn't work, it is easy enough (as others have mentioned) to record elsewhere and send the audio to Samplr -- which I find preferable anyway since Samplr doesn't seem to have any obvious sample editing tools.
I think people sometimes get the impressions (I certainly did when I first looked into it) that the app is terribly broken on the machines where it doesn't record when that is the only function that seems to be impacted. Annoying, yes, but Samplr has so much to offer that it is a pretty minor issue imo.
Exactly how I feel about Cakewalk’s Z3TA+, what an amazing synth! I wish I would have never sold my Air 1 to just freeze it there. Thankfully it still works on my 2017 9.7 iPad.
Still alive and kicking in my lil world

FWIW I had the same realization as others that it’s best to create samples outside Samplr then import. IMO Samplr can be really rewarding with well prepared and well thought out samples.
I’m not the developer, but I do develop software. I can tell you there is no such thing as a one-hour fix. I’m not going to take the effort to explain in any more detail than that. I should have just let your comment go by without saying anything in the first place. Believe me or not. It makes no difference.
Cheers, and peace.
Can anyone post a diagram / of Samplr showing what all the symbols/icons do?
Thanks in advance or if there is an online manual
You can use the, “?” in the app to see this information. Here’s a video tutorial.
so did it work correctly on your other iPad or not?
I'd recommend watching videos of it in action. It is hard to appreciate what makes it cool from reading about it.
@espiegel123 i have watched the videos Hence why I downloaded it. Just looking for a diagram of the icons For now they look like emoji type thingys of which I am not clued up on
@InfoCheck cheers I downloaded this video last night. Its good
Me too, all good. I think it is the latest iPad Pro.
You want to check @deltAdata stuff on YouTube. At the time he was Samplr focused with great results. Not exactly tutorials but a good representation of what S is capable of.
I can confirm that Samplr fully works on iPad Pro 9.7”. Also checked the internal and external microphone. All good.
thanks Zhoe
@zhoe Ok cool . Not working for me at all. Do you have Microphone option in ipad general settings / Samplr . I don’t - what iOS version are you on?
