@Stone Trek. St. Vincent, Jenny Lewis, Jolie Holland, Laura Marling, Moms Mabley. All awesome. @Anyone else. If you were a girl, would you hang out here? " Sausage fest", " Pussy shots." That's girl repellent, fellas.
Mrs Slocumb was always talking about her pussy. Classic primetime TV comedy watched by entire families, including girls.
I was wondering where all the women are too.

The typical iOS musician is 95% male.
Why is that? Too nerdy?![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
I'm pretty sure I'm more than 95% male. Perhaps I'm atypical?

I don't have a scientific explanation for it. I guess it's a mirror of the electronic music scene which is predominantly male.
I'd also like to say that it's not something that I'm happy about. As a developer I'm working on making apps more appealing to new users of all genders.
A female musician I've talked with a lot in the last days says whenever she goes into a music store to buy gear everybody treats her as if she couldn't possibly know what she's talking about. That definitely sucks and I like to believe that the Audiobus community is more friendly and behaves in a less stereotypical way.
I wonder what the ratio is for musicians in general. I've shown a number of people what can be done on an iPad and the women often seem fascinated, but usually not to the degree to dive in.

Sadly, this is true, in XXI th century. It must change forever.
Am I a man?
Yes, technically I am.
Well, I find the audiobus community very friendly (even with all the sausage fest talk but then again I have 5 older brothers
), music store staff have said to me stuff like, you'll have to find a nice outfit to match the colour of that guitar, and I couldn't even imagine what would make an app more gender friendly. I do know I've been at a million jams with women who maybe didn't have any band experience or were new to music, and the minute the guys arrive they would just kind of take over. But if you want to talk ratios - in the 4 bands I (stupidly) managed to get myself in, there are 16 musicians and 10 of them are women, so in my world we outnumber the men. ![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Also, I love Flight of the Conchords!

You know, pink, sparkly, Jem themed UI for the ladies, and blue Transformer graphics for the gentlemen.
That's right! Ha Ha!![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Rap, Hip Hop at zero percent? Are Rap/Hip Hop musicians not using iPads? Or are they not on this forum? I chose Jazz because I couldn't choose more than one genre and I also wanted to give the genre a bump. The genre thing above is like you are either black or white. Although I am black I also love white. Secondary genre choices would have been welcomed.
My fave guitarists are all rock players. I solo best when I play rock stylie but my fave progressions lean more to Jazz. My orchestrations are more kind of fusion; a bit of World, Funk, Soul, Blues, EDM, Brass, Bass, Roots and more. A potpourri :-)
@funjunkie27 - thanks for the fun.....
Glad to have you in the mix with us @girlvsworld!
As far as gender goes... on my Facebook charity page... the bulk of my likes are girls ages 13-17. And most requests for instrument donation and free lessons end up being girls that age or younger. It is my theory that more girls would be into music if they were provided the chance. The male gender is def targeted more. So the best thing to do is give your old guitar/keyboard to a young lady. Ironically I have 3 autoharps to donate and other folk instruments (like ukes) and girls are the only ones interested! I will try and push synths!![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)

Let me present to you the most masculine VST ever: https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=rob papen blade&tbs=imgo:1
BTW women are proportionately way more active and prominent on the FB iPad Musicians group than here. Still nowhere close to 50-50 but way more than here. I suspect the lack of anonymity has something to do with it.
@Rhism said:
There's not really much anonymity going on here. Apart from that, I don't see how anonymity would deter anyone from participating.
Just a theory
May be something else entirely. I won't pretend to know the answer there. But the fact remains.
Since it's been mentioned twice, I feel like I should say sorry about my sausage fest comment. I certainly wasn't trying to put anyone off. I was lamenting the generally monochromatic gender make up of the forum with an ugly term; a term I've only ever assocatied with situations that are male dominated for no good reason. Like most software jobs I've ever had. And this lovely forum!
@sebastian - you are so right - that has to be the most masculine interface ever!
@funjunkie - thanks
it's a pleasure to be here
@rhism - I noticed more women over on Facebook than here too - maybe it's an age thing!
@syrupcore - don't sweat it, I get ya![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
@girlvsworld Actually everyone seems this age over there too
Are you on that group?
@Rhism I am, but I'm not a big Facebook user so don't hang out there much!
Bump
Very funny
