  • Been waiting for a good AUv3 channel strip for ages, yet this one seems to be a bit too simplistic - no expander, no EQ fine-tuning, no M/S and phase inversion, no steep low cut ... :/

I really don’t want to sound ungrateful - I’ve been praying for an AUv3 SSL-type strip for ages - but this really is about as basic as it gets. No meters or volume readings? Hmm. Must we tune EQ freq by ear?

Hopefully it won’t suffer the same curse of older AD plugins that become unstable when you use more than 1-2 instances.

  • I just... don’t think I would use it.

Will no doubt pick it up in the next sale for 2.99 :)

  • Yup, very curious about memory usage and the infamous multiple instances instantiation issue since it's a plugin that's traditionally on every track. The app is 6.8mb to start.

    My (brutally honest) advice...

I think he should bake this one a little longer and come back with an 8.99 price tag (and a few more features)

    Like this:

  • Simple and highly useful.

  • Is this thing stereo?
Kinda looks mono, plus no pan control.

  • ALBALB

Hey this is pretty good - just used it on drums.

  • Well that’s interesting.

  • I'll get it cuz it'll come in handy having compression... Probably no side chain tho

  • Looks good for that all in one workflow (which is the whole point of channel strips I know). I can’t help wondering if FabFilter and Mr Woodman still deserve their place on my channels though.

Will see how the response is.

  • So the save button means we can save our own presets? Does it come with any presets? Does the 50hz, 100hz mean those are low cuts in addition to that low side control? Any plans for curve types (bell, hi/lo pass, etc) and Q controls for each?

  • Thank you Audio Damage at last iOS Channel Strip Auv3. It sounds excellent. Really impressed with the saturation. Pushing the levels hard testing and no overclipping. Excellent.Of course would like more options in the EQ i.e Q and Parametric EQ but for the price and what I’am hearing it sounds very good indeed.Cheers AD I remember emailing about a year ago and here it is. The compressor is a character compressor so can really hear the effect. :-)

2 instances with eq&compressor ON showed just 6-7% cpu. I can work with that. Maybe an opion though to turn of the moving compressor display. It’s a bit distracting. We may soon see a more in depth channel strip built from this one. Hint hint Audio Damage. Keep up the good work

Joking? You want them to make an SSL level channel strip (that works on an iPad) and sell it to you for $8.99?

  • The multi instance issue that AD plugins has is nothing to do with the RAM limit.

Still has 36 instances loading. Should be a good sign.

It's no sign at all, the multi instance bug most commonly grinds the graphics to a halt, something you cant see in that video at all.
And if he has fixed the instance issue, why isnt he updating his other plugins so that they work.

@syrupcore I posted the SSL image as inspiration for multiple different ways this plugin could be enhanced over a $5 (pocket change) plugin.

Obviously I'd pay more than $9 for the real thing. On this matter, I think Fabfilter strike the balance between desktop and iOS prices quite well.

Although right now, I'd happily give all my free cash for the channel strip Auria Pro has built-in as an AUv3 (just like what many others here say about the BM3 sampler :) )

  • Hmm... I kinda like the 'negative compression ratio' (ie. expansion) on the Waves plug-in that is IAP in Cubasis.

If anyone's ever used the channel strip on the Allen & Heath DLive consoles, now that's a channel-strip I'd pay premium for to have as an AUv3 on iOS :)

iOS already has a 'built-in' compressor/expander (the Apple AUDynamicsProcessor) which with proper UI could be a very handy tool!

Don't know if this 'Channel Strip' from AudioDamage will get additional features or if they will save those for a more advanced version in the future?

I'll mess more with this AUv3 later today, got it last night :D

  • wish AD would spend time fixing broken/buggy apps than pumping out new things. I'm growing more skeptical of their business model tbh..

Quanta is unstable and crashes constantly, and the microtuning function is still broken..
and yes, I have sent crash reports to support, met with little response. Enso is cool, but too unstable to use in a live setting. So lots of cool apps that aren't really ready for prime time :(

I really don’t want to sound picky, but have you got a video of the multi instance failure? And sent it to AD? I’ve tried to repeat that one without much luck.

That's fighting talk Doug! I guess I better try making one tonight..

(perhaps AUM is more stable than BM3 in this regard?)

Yes, and it was available as the compressor/expander in apeMatrix!
Until for some stupid reason it was removed from apeMatrix in one of the more recent versions. :s
In fact it's still there but upon loading it either crashes apeMatrix or only a presets dialog shows up. No way to adjust or control its parameters.
That's about as useful as an EQ without adjustable frequencies and bandwidths.

Looks great , simplicity is always best. People want an ssl strip for a few quid..

Hey! I think we clarified this misunderstanding already ...and why is simplicity always best?
