Few other iPadOS notes from today:

Sidecar works in conjunction with IDAM.

I've got Sidecar working on a MINI4+, 9.7 Pro, and 10.5 Pro - but the iPhoneXS generates an error message, even though it shows up as a Sidecar option.

What version of Mac are you using? I was reading that my 2012 Mac mini won't get sidecar, but that there might be a terminal command to force enable it. I was really looking forward to that feature too. Also, the information on which models will support it doesn't seem to be official yet.

@DMan I'm using a Mid 2014 MBP for testing. Yes you can enable Sidecar on Macs running Catalina with:

defaults write com.apple.sidecar.display allowAllDevices -bool YES

You'll need to be running iPadOS as well - and SideCar should work on any device that can run iPadOS. I haven't been able to get it working with my iPhoneXS, though it does get listed as a SideCar option. Being pre-release, we'll have to see if the list of supported Mac's gets updated - but from what I gather, it's any 2016 or later Mac. Also, the SideCar menu doesn't show in System Preferences, even with changing the SideCar defaults. If I'm not mistaken (can't remember), I think after entering the cmd above, I had to Log Out of my Mac User Acct, then did a Shutdown/Turn back on to get SideCar enabled. Normal beta warnings/back your stuff up etc., apply!

Thanks for the info. I don’t plan on running beta until it’s public beta and then I’ll only update my iPad Air 2 when I have time to roll back to iOS 12 with a simple factory restore. I definitely don’t think I’d put my Mac on the beta. I have some non-critical firmware errors to sort out on that thing anyway. I’m not sure if beta is a good or bad idea.

Backup your stuff warnings apply for everything!!

So just using a splitter cable will allow any phones to wwitch to 44 ?
    Good info, thanks.

That is very interesting idea - but i never got working splitter cable neither with iPhone or iPad :( Out is OK, but mic branch is simply ignoring input, even if it is connected it still records from build in microphone (so it stays fixed at 48khz)

Is there anybody successfull with recording through mic/headphones jack splitter ? I know about impedancy/level issues, but in general works this at all ?? I tried 2 different cable splitters and probably 3 different iPhone models as 5-6 different iPad models - but always just headphone out was working, not mic in.

Could connect my Synology NAS, and can browse the shares. It would be nice if a 'open with' could be used. Example : streaming a movie. Or am I missing something?

@Pierre118 - Try long pressing the file - should be Quickview, Open in, and Share to other apps - type options (if I’m understanding your Q)

You understood my question well :) Thanks for the reply. But I don't see 'Open in' in the list, only a few 'copy to....'.

@Pierre118 Right, Open In - long press file, then tap Share - or Tap Select, then tap Share at bottom of screen.

    It just struck me.
Does iPadOS support external USB CD/DVD-Rom drives when they are hooked to the USB-Port?

And well, how does iPadOS react if the drive contains *.ipa files?
(I read somewhere that only 'files' would be support and no 'executables').

Would be interesting to hear from those running iOS/iPadOS 13...

Just asked this question over at Amazon regarding the external CD drive and have not recieved an answer yet. I’ll keep you posted if I get anything.

Just wondering if anyone has any updated info on this. Really hopeful on this one.
