I always use X2 in Audiobus, whether using AUM or not, so the app switcher is always there. That is preferable to juggling windows to me, and combined with State Saving, that gives me everything I would care about in an AU. But I can see why people less window-flusterable than me would prefer X2 to be contained within AUM.

(State saving isn't 100% reliable, so I always save the X2 project with the same name as the AB session, just in case. But most of the time don't need it.)

  • Yeah I have to get I the habit of staying in AB3 as you had suggested. Just that sometimes the midi gets me thrown off.

Wim i need some help with creating a GM kit in KEaw to respond correctly to the midi being sent from Xequence 2. I recorded a cool drum track with Soft Drummer midi into X2 but now when I send it to KEW it sounds like a train wreck🤪😳

Go into softdrummer and take a screenshot of its midi mapping page. It will show which notes correspond to which drums. Use that to guide you.

Do you have mfx Convert? Mozaic?

  • Thanks! Will check it out.

  • No I don’t. I had midiflow only. I have Mosaic on my list to get. Will do soon though. 😌

Your best option then is just to move the notes around until you get them going to the right pads. @espiegel123's suggestion is the most direct path.

  • Will do; noticed that in the soft drummer midi page there’s a mapping for Gadget and one for GM and GM2 but I guess I’ll try to create my own and maybe that will get the job done for now. Thank you both for the suggestions!❤️🤗🙏☝️

The piano roll, and a modular mini-timeline would be handy for jams I guess, but other than that I just don't see what AU adds. What am I missing?

Same here. I don't get the desire to make X2 AU either. Nobody has been able to explain in reasonable detail what this would do for us.

  • Is there a way to have a single midi track in X2 be able to send midi out to various midi channels at once? I can only select one channel at a time. I wonder if this could be a future possibility?

    Hi !

Well I’ve completely missed that X2 until today !!! 😅

    So I have few questions...
    @SevenSystems

1.Can I assign Program Change or CC’s to a midi track, a sort of timeline, to start my sequence from there ?
I’d like to emulate a kind of live looper...

2.Also does start/stop link is starting the track from the beginning of a song all the time or next to the closest bar in sync ?

3.Can I midi assign loop on/off using midi while X2 is playing ? (As I see that the latest version is fixing the lag issue while activating/deactivating the looping sequence mode)

4.Can I load songs using PC's or CC's ? Does it stop Link if the track was playing before loading a new track ?

    1. I think I'll use 3 instances of X2 on 3 iPads, so loading a new song on an iPad won't stop the others iPads ? (I guess I'll have to test to ask for some features... ;) )

Purpose is to have a full midi sequencer with fully visible entire song, but also allowing control of some looping points while playing the track...

    Thanks !

No. An instrument is defined by the combination one destination and channel. @SevenSystems would need to address the question of whether it would be a future possibility.

There are many, many ways around this though. You can always point the same MIDI channel to multiple instruments in AB, AUM or just about any host. There's also MIDI Clone and Filter from AudioVeek's MIDI tools -and other apps as well.

What do you see as the problem that this would address?

Well, I have not been using it in AB3:: Seems like most people use it there.. but switching back and forth is a challenge... seem like every thing that ATOM can deliver and more.. right now..

  • Thanks Wim!

Yeah, if I set KEW in settings as advanced, then I’m able to send midi to each of the internal 8 synth channels separately. So I have a track in Sequence that I wanted to trigger all eight KEW synth channels at once so instead of creating 8 midi channels in X2 of the same midi data, I wanted to point it to the separate KEW midi synth channels 1-8. But if I leave it as easy, I can trigger all eight but they also trigger the drums somehow. Only when set to advances it separate the synth and drums in KEW. Hope it makes sense.

  • Sending the same data to multiple MIDI channels... it doesn't sound like something that is needed very often? Probably like @wim pointed out, it would be better to use an external tool for this. Because by extension, you might then also want to send to multiple separate DESTINATIONS (not just channels). So a better idea would then probably be the ability to assign a single arranger track to multiple instruments.

  • Yeah makes perfect sense 🤗

I think setting the drum track to ‘ch 10’ will trigger the Drums in KEW ....

Yeh, that’s right. 1-8 are synth tracks and 10 is the drums.

@Tones4Christ, I don’t really get why you’d want one track to control the eight separate synths tracks in KEW. Each one is a separate sound, so why one track? Oh well, no need to answer, I’m just thinking out loud.

I can’t think of any other DAWs or sequencers in iOS that combine multiple channels into one track either.

  • It’s like one huge multi Timbral preset per pattern, but I wanna be able to send a midi track from X2 to control those 8 separate synths all at one for a massive sound!😳🤓😲

  • Actually I really wish I could determine the receiving midi channel in KEW..that would solve it all.

  • You can get MIDI Clone and Filter and solve that in about two minutes, without coding.

  • @SevenSystems is there something there or if I am missing could you consider adding? I am looking for a pop up or something when you have a project that you can put note or comments in and would save with the project? Could be just a simple notepad for writing down info or ideas about the project and would save with it.

That would be pretty easy to add, but I've always wondered if this isn't a bit "too much" -- for example, I always just have a folder "Xequence project notes" or something like that in the regular "Notes" app, and then just save my notes there with the same name as each project?

Yes I do that.... but it would be nice to have one little button that was a notes section that was contained within Xequence.... that way I could be on same screen and BAM!!! 😂

For me, it is vastly preferable to have the notes in the app both so that I can make notes without switching apps but also so I don't have to do extra file management to keep track of where the notes are.

  • And collpase+expand tracks/track groups
I'm anxious for that one. Not even sure it's on the roadmap

  • Hi,
Just to let you know, I think you may add notes on AUM already, might be interesting ?

Collapse + Expand folders with markers to open/close automatically with the right focus on the folder with his midi tracks, in a live situation : killer feature
