  • Well, Ableton Link Start/Stop makes AU less needed.. but, can we get a ‘return button’ so it will be easier to get back to AUM..
    Thanks.. Great App..

    Thanks, glad you like it.

On the "Return button", sorry, but loading as IAA is not officially supported by Xequence, it's only a side-effect of Audiobus integration and it is impossible to "hide" the IAA port. It would be possible to add the button, but even then, IAA is now officially on the way out. Please use the Audiobus sidebar for quick switching! :)

Wow ableton start stop is truly awesome with X2, Funk Drummer!
Feels so natural like playing with real drummer!

...and Funk Drummer won’t try to steal your girlfriend. ;)

  • Congrats and thanks for the Xequence 2.

And especially thank you for still updating Xequence 1. I was surprised that a new update was available today for the old one.

I think that was mainly to update the app description to give a heads up to buyers about Xequence 2 being the one to get. Couple of small fixes in there too though.

New drum map, and 2 fixes that don’t really affect me.
Still appreciate the continued support, though.

  • @CracklePot yes there were two fixes that I still wanted to push through so that the last version of Xequence 1 on the App Store is "perfect" 🙂 but it's time to move into the future now!

@Michael, I'm noticing that Audiobus still, for unknown reasons, sometimes doesn't save the state for Xequence (the "Saved State for Xequence" notification doesn't appear and there's no state info in the preset). Why is this not an error? i.e. if Audiobus is unable to save the state for one of the apps, why isn't there a big fat warning? :) Just wondering...

Whoa! That should definitely not be happening. I'll dig into it

  • When I tap the preset link I get a web page asking me to install Audiobus.... it is installed. Any ideas?

  • So can Xequence sequence BM3?

What are people’s main pros for using this to sequence AUM compared to using Beatmaker 3 to sequence AUM? Is it overall tighter, more sequencer features, better workflow? What are the stand outs?

What do you mean by sequence AUM?

Xequence is a straightforward linear MIDI sequencer/composition tool. It isn't a DAW. It has an elegant timeline and built-in software keyboard and drum pads for sending MIDI. Allows you to set measures to repeat.

There are a bunch of video tutorials for it that you can watch to get a feel for it.

It is a much simpler best than Beakmaker 3 and doesn't host anything on its own. You use it to record MIDI and send it to synths wherever they may be. Quite a few folks use it to sequence Gadget if they like Gadget's instruments but not the sequencer's limitations.

  • Bought this last night to use on my flight today. Coupled with AUM and Patterning2, it's pretty much exactly what I've been looking for. Now I just need an AU drum sampler that I can trigger from Xequence and I'm good to go.

    Yes.

  • @tja Not OP, but if I’m not mistaken only 3 of the 18 shown are samplers in the sense that you can load your own samples, and none of those 3 are AUv3; 0 of the 18 can actually sample directly (no surprise, as few AUv3s can, and likely those that do use apple work arounds and/or must be loaded in FX slots...)

In any case, @slicetwo, I can’t vouch for it because I’m not convinced it perfect, but Vatantor is sadly one of a select few AUv3 drum samplers. Can’t vouch for Beathawk either, but same. If anybody knows a secret AUv3 drum sampler they can recommend, please let me know!

Why exactly an AU drum sampler?

    You need multiple instances?

Even as i most of the time don’t need an AU, there are some candidates in those folders:

And BeatHawk comes to mind too

With an AU drum sampler you can use your own samples. We don’t have great options at the moment, but beatbawk as well as vatanator are the best we have.

If there’s someone out there that really thinks they could benefit from Xequence 2, but it is a real hardship to afford, please PM me. I have a promo code that I don’t need.

  • Sorry but .... Xequence 2 is like a updated MODSTEP or something like that ?

@SevenSystems I have a small issue on iPhone 6...I'm trying to add a second track for multichannel recording, once I add the second track and open it's settings, and select Recording source ... the channels are off the screen and I cannot seem to move the window to make them visible.

EDIT: Workaround - If I add a third track, I am then able to scroll the second track to the top of the window, then when I open settings I can see the MIDI channels again.

  • Try turning off “Smart Vertical Zooming” to see if that helps.

  • @tja I like trying to minimize the different apps I switch through. I really just want something that will host multiple custom drum samples in one channel for the ease of sketching out ideas. I also found that trying to line up the song mode in Patterning2 with Xequence was really annoying, unreliable, and time consuming, so if I could sequence everything from Xequence, I'd be all good.

    @dreamsaremaps and @DCJ I'll check out Vatanator.

I guess I should also figure out the MIDI drum mapping for Patterning2.

And play a round of Mystic Square while you're at it.

Wow that's embarrassing, thanks for reporting. That will be an easy fix 🙂 sorry for that.

  • @slicetwo as @rs2000 has so lovingly pointed out already 😉, Xequence has extensive drum mapping support including more than 40 factory drum maps, which of course also include Patterning 😎

  • Do I need Audiobus 3 or AUM to be able to use this with Korg Gadget 2?

  • @baconcow said:

No, you can just send the MIDI directly into Gadget. There's a manual section dedicated to just this setup -- if you would like to take a look:

    http://seven.systems/xequence2/en/manual/

("Example Setups", "Using a multi-timbral app with multiple MIDI channels and sounds: Korg Gadget")

Let me know if anything's unclear.
