  • Holy cats, I didn't expect to cause such a stir. I am no way affiliated with UVI. I looked up their contact information on the UVI website and took a chance to ask the simple question about MIDI velocity. I didn't expect an answer; but got one a few days later.

    I did not start this post, but finally, as an Audiobus user, I decided to join this informative forum to express my interest for this app. Just by the NAMM video, I was totally impressed with the features of their upcoming Beathawk app.

    Since I am an iOS app junky, I really think that despite the unanswered questions about Beathawk on this forum, I really want to add it to my arsenal of apps because I think it will help me create the type of music I want; and it seems to have a comprehensive set of functions that other drum apps are missing.

    @bsantoro

    It's cool man i think your legit.
    I just think your a beatmachine junkie like myself. I was absolutely hyped when i saw the UVI beathawk video from namm and couldnt find much about it anywhere.
    I think it's the app ive been waiting for as far as drummachines go. iMPC was a big letdown for me, BM2 just doesnt gel with me (its awesome i know but heh thats just the way i feel), sorry to say electrify next was another big letdown. Mosaik i will buy but this looks like the dogs bollocks for people like me :D
    Ive already been planning a little rig with ipad and mpc500 hooked together just for this app... like i said beatmachine junkie :D

    Ethics have gone out the window around here as of late.

    We need to adopt a full disclosure policy, such as, I am affiliated with ..., or, I received a free copy of this app for reviewing it. Many other sites have adopted such policy.

    I do think the app looks good, but @Syrupcore is right, bsantoro should explain. Stuff like this will make me not buy the app no matter how great it is, If this indeed the case.

  • Yum yum, tasty looking app !

  • Cheers and welcome @bsantoro

    Didn't mean to cause as much of a fuss as I did either! I just noticed, so I asked. I'm not related to McArthy and I have no descendants from Salem. (/end US only joke)

    As a related aside, I really like that this forum is generally really receptive to developer/promoter participation. We just like to know first.

    Yeah, the app looks great.

    @bsatoro you had me at Holy cats :-)

    @Dev's, @beta testers, @marketing folks, ect.
    A full disclose as stated above is the ethical thing to do. I doubt the moderators of this forum can make you do this, but it will be up to you. If you think this will discourage sales, think again. It will only serve your credibility.

    /Removed/ :-o

    Again, the BeatHawk app looks like a great app!

    To give a voice of dissent to the previous post, I don't care if anyone discloses affiliations and you can count at least 1 forum member who will not be influenced by cheerleading on this board.

    I don't see ethical dilemmas here of the size they're made out to be. The biggest corporate name I've seen associated to iOS apps is Korg, and frankly they can cheerlead just like all their competitors have for decades and it will have the exact same impact it's always had on me (which is only as far as the actual quality of their product...and all the Korg iOS apps I've purchased, I enjoyed).

    Most developers are far more independent, and trying to claim ethical issues with their discretion seems misguided, imo. There are perfectly valid reasons a developer may want to plug an app from a discrete position (believe it or not, it can actually get a much more honest response from an audience).

    And for the record, before someone tries to come at me with a pitchfork, I have zero affiliation to any app developer. I've never beta tested an app, never been in on the development of any app, ever. I do absolutely feel like a rebuttal to the previous view should be published, here. And hence my post.

    edit: And one last bit, I have absolutely no clue how someone gathered that a poster who clearly stated they contacted UVI by email is automatically a plant for UVI. That came off as really snide and exclusionary when I first read that, for the record.

  • I have joined this forum because I am an Audiobus user and have enjoyed the tremendous support and user experiences that this forum provides. I never expected to be unwelcomed, or suspected of belonging to a developer. I have no direct ties with any iOS developer. I am just an end user of iOS apps who expressed enthusiasm for an upcoming app that looks really promising. I hope I can continue to participate in this forum without someone falsely suspecting me of ulterior motives?

  • @bsantoro don't stress, think some dots were connected where there weren't dots :) witch-hunt aside, it actually does look like an awesome app and I'm quite excited by it too
    [full disclosure: I'm in no way affiliated with the app or the developers :P ]

  • @calcutta the last part of your post was directed at me and I would like to reply but this thread has gone silly and if anything is making @bsantoro feel less welcome, not more! Not good.

    I started it, allow me to end it? We can talk about app representation in a different thread disassociated from my question.

  • For the love of humanity!

    edit: sorry guys, didn't see there was a thread allready!

  • Have very good sound, UVI library sound great....but....I realized now....it's only one track :-(

  • Not impressed with it at the mo. Think NI Maschine does more. Akai MPC may do more?
