Thumbjam, NodeBeat and SoundGrid started it off. Nanostudio sealed the deal though.
I bought Animoog for iPad well before I owned an iPad (because it was on sale for $0.99)
For me it was GarageBand then Sampletank, and then SunVox. I used those on my phone for a year before getting an iPad. I bought Model 15 a couple days after release and then decided I’m not squinting at this tiny phone screen and got an iPad.
Thumbjam for sure.
SoundPrism still use.
Figure!
NodeBeat also still going - great little phrase machine.
Xynthesizr <— one of the best sequencers still
Cassini first synth
Then a whole bunch of weird noise makers
Like Glichbreaks, Nebulizer, Noisemusick, Bitwiz, Thicket, Droneo
Then what’s that one called hmmm Loopa, Loopish, something like that
Audiobus was the first to tie it all together! Used an old app MiMiX for levels
Good times
Even better now.
Oh DM1 and FunkBox for drums
iElectribe on iPad 1. Amazing tech.
Garage Band. Could not believe what was free.
AudioBus make it work together.
Samplr. Like new art.
BlocsWave. Gift from future.
FL Studio (original version) on android made me realise it was totally doable on mobile, then Garageband, Ampkit and Line 6 Mobile Pod on iPod touch (back in the days of 30 pin connectors)....then got an iPad Mini and discovered iMS20 and Cubasis where both available... Happy Days
Since then many apps have come along to keep the dream alive
I found Jordan Rudess thru a Kronos keyboard review. Saw his GeoShred. Thought, hmmm.... bought GeoSynth and the lights went on.
Definitely Animoog and still today I find it to be the best app on iOS. Flux:FX a close second.
think Bebot was the first, that was it, game over
GarageBand.
Loopy.
Poor house.
I tried everything available prior to it’s release, but nothing on iPad worked full time for me until NanoStudio 2. Since then my desktop has been collecting dust. Now if only it could get live note repeat, MCU compatibility (transport control), AUv3 could get its act together, and the newly released Kit Maker was available for NS2 exports ( @elgrayso ) everything would be right in the world 😉
Nanosynth, SynthX, AUDIOBUS !!!
Got an iphone years ago and was amazed at what Garage Band could do on a phone. Then I found Animoog and Audiobus and that was it. I had an ipad within a week. Thus began my journey into app addiction.
For me it was Beathawk.
Jakob HaQ’s haQ attaQ videos were also an early inspiration, so I dedicated my first iPad track (way back in 2014, I think it was) to him:
Eh? Bebot was the pinnacle. It’s been pretty much downhill since hasn’t it?
Nanostudio on the iPhone 3GS! CLASSIC.
samplrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
NS1 on ipod touch.
