Grimvalor and Xcom are really good. I rarely have time to play lately but have only heard positive feedback on this Arcade thing. Sounds like Apple have done a good job here.
I never spent 1 minute in any game on iPad or iPhone or Mobile....or in any platform
I’m still working on some games that are 20+ years old, so I don’t think I need any $5 a month to play games. $5 month subscription is too much for most things for me. I don’t care for subscriptions.
Sucker! You big sucker.
I knew better than that.
On a related note, this startup called GameClub has committed themselves to bringing iOS classics that didn't make it from the 32 to 64-bit switch back from the dead. It seems like they will also be offering a subscription service soon for some of the real iOS classics.

I only found out about this while checking my old purchases when I got a new phone and my favorite iOS game of all time, Forget.Me.Not, was magically restored. So I think you can get those oldies back if you bought them and GameClub has gotten to them (Super Quickhook, Super Crate Box were a couple others I was able to get back)...just may have to scroll wayyyy down the purchase list.
I guess I'll chime in a little more since I bought up a few recently. Hyper Light Drifter is awesome, as is the new Michael Brough game, P1 Select. Rogue Legacy and Dead Cells seemed up my alley but I didn't like the feel of the gameplay of either one. And Stranger Things 3 was too boring to play past the first 10 minutes to even find out if it was worth it.
Congratulations, you are an anomaly
Edit: hold up not so fast! ...only if you're under 60
You’ve got quite a few I haven’t seen before either; always nice to find some new hidden gems; thanks for sharing!
Max - The Curse of the Brotherhood is a decent adventure platformer, not bad if you’re into that sort. I appreciate games like that, especially when they offer MFi support, bringing me back to my NES/SNES retro origins. Traps ‘N Gemstones is another decent platformer I’m just getting into a bit.
Re: game folders = I feel ya :P it’d get pretty ridiculous if I posted everything — got several other multi-pane folders organized by genre, (racing, sims, board games, adventure, TD, etc) ..Always fun to see the highlights of what others are playing though, and to show gamers that there’s quite a solid library under the surface of all the p2p/freebie junk inundating the app-store.
I gave up on Journey just now. Had already tried that Sky Children junk and deleted it as well. Things must've changed more than I realized between Journey's original 2012 release date and now...because it is in no way an engaging or moving experience.
uh yeah if I dont finish that one in my free trial ill spring for the monthly till im done with it.
Excited for this but really waiting for iPad OS to drop (today?) so that I can enjoy these on my iPad. Looking forward to playing these with my son too
We've been banging on the new 1.3 update for mobile Terraria lately, it's been a lot of fun just the two of us exploring and fighting/building stuff. It's a lot of fun playing these kinds of games with young kids because they are so creative and have wild ideas
Skills and not money based gaming platform is definitely welcome imo. I'm not a gamer but smash hit and asphalt have been my side addiction for a while. My excuse is keeping my senses sharp in the old age but god, such a time wasting device.
Apple Arcade could be a real winner for the Apple TV. It’s perfect for people like me that grew up with early arcade games but never became hardcore pc or PS4 gamers.
I like games but I’m not a gamer. I like games that I can dip in and out of. Casual games.
The game I’ve played most, by far, on my Apple TV is alto’s adventure.
I will give the free trial a go and like the fact you can dip in and out. I doubt it will be a subscription I pay for every month but it might be nice every now and then.
I smashed try free trial when I found out Sayonara Wild Hearts was made by Simogo. What an awesome little experience this game is...one of the closest things to an actual fever dream I've experienced.
Now that I’ve updated the iPad... I could do the 1-month trial, but I think I’ll wait till the holidays when I have some time off to enjoy it
😅 I will add iOS 13 comments on another thread. First step will be a quick play with Animoog, which coincidentally was the primary culprit in taking my leisure time away from iOS gaming in the first place.
My god. I just finished Sayonara Wild Hearts and had to come here to gush. It is an absolute masterpiece. If you enjoy pop music and the art style, it’s, with no exaggeration, a transcendent experience. My jaw was dropped from start to finish. It is thrilling, exhilarating, and most importantly, pure fun. I felt like a kid in awe the whole time.
I didn't crack that one open yet.... but it's ready and waiting already downloaded. I was laughing uncontrollably playing Cricket Through The Ages last night. I hope no one else in other hotel rooms heard me because they'd think an insane person was on their floor
LOL
