Nice part of the world @catherder , had a great week near Elgin a few years ago 🦭🐳🦅

@GeoTony, Yes, it is. Great for various outdoor activities. That is for me mostly spending time with horses and ponies. No synth shops here, but the Moray Firth Synthesizer Club. Nice little synth community - we even do live Open Mic sessions about every two months.

Thank you, the “Desk” is a Husky adjustable height workbench from Home Depot, the speaker and monitor stands are made of 1” X 8” pine board and there is a “Skirt” made of 1” X 2” pine board to make them look thicker.

All glued and clamped together. I sanded it all by hand with 120 grit sand paper. I used a trim router from Harbor Freight to round off the top edges just to see if I could. It was my first time using a router.

Then I painted them with three coats of clear satin water based polyurethane

The chrome stands are IKEA bar stands for the speakers and cabinet legs for the iPad. I saw a YouTube video where another guy used them on his desk and I loved the jaunty angle of them. When I checked the ikea site, I found they were discontinued so EBay to the rescue!

    Really turned out great!
Question though. Did you sand and polyurethane the actual Husky desk wood surface or just the speaker stands?
You’ve given me a great idea for my kitchen.

    Thank you

Just the speaker and ipad stands as I made them from raw pine. The husky workbench already has a similar finish

  • I’m from Rijeka / Croatia. It’s most rainy city in our country. Funny thing, just 25km from my city is island Krk also called golden island because it’s most sunny place on Adriatic. So, as you can see, I ended up living on dark side of the yin-yang. ;)

  • I don’t remember if I have posted in this thread, but, anyway, I live 25km north Stockholm, Sweden.

  • I’m where I was last time: Portugal 🇵🇹. But I’ve been places. At age 6mo I was bathing in the pacific

Don’t know if this has been done before but thought it would be interesting to see whereabouts in the world forum members hail from. I’ll start - Vietnam, where there are many obedient women, like movie on https://phimhentaiz.net/

Corvallis, Oregon. Quite a few Cascadians on here!

  • @Littlewoodg Iceland, wow! lol, lowest crime rate in the world. Good luck with your adventure!
@wim, my pin might still be in Istanbul. Pls relocate to Savannah, GA. I should be here awhile.

I just spent the last hour and a half pinning all the locations on a Google map, only to find that it will only save about 30 of the entries. 😂😂😂

Oh well, here’s the screenshot with all the pins showing. :D

Ooooh! It's the first thing I thought as well, when reading this thread!!

I wanted to quickly scrape the forum thread and build an interactive map with the data.... without getting stuck in it. Asked help, but Google Gemini is too dumb and couldn't spit out decent code.
Too lazy atm to do it myself
That lazy... so, no way I am adding things on a map by hand!

  • I'm in Berlin btw

Would be nice a meetup here in the city.... I remember @krassmann suggesting it in another thread!
...would be nice to do it before winter comes!

  • Originally Cardiff Wales. Now mainland China (Suzhou).

Huh. I don't remember saying what you quoted above. It must have been before I figured out how to make it work. As far as I know all the pins from this thread and a few others like it are saved just fine. I add them as they're posted, including yours and @dblonde's just now.

Haha this is great Wim, thanks for doing this. One small error I've noticed though @gregsmith is wrong. He's not in Greater Manchester, UK. He's most definitely about 150 meters from my house in Worcester. Still never done a proper collab either :D

Oh I dunno about evolutions later on, I didn’t read 17 pages of thread 😅, I’ve just answered to you first comments.
But glad that there’s already the map done! Thanks for the manual effort 😁

I don't usually get detailed location info, so I just stick the pins roughly near the center of whatever general area I'm told. 😉

  • btw, some people post pictures from their area in this thread: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/46654/where-are-you

When they do I add them to the pin. @FPC's pin is a beautiful example. 😎

Just repeating the usual disclaimer: Posting your location or photos in one of these threads implies it's ok to pin on the map. If you don't want this, or change your mind later, PLEASE let me know.

I never post names or other personally identifiable information other than forum handles and the general location provided. I also won't post any pictures of your residence that might be used to pinpoint location. Nonetheless, it's your responsibility to guard your privacy, and it's assumed you think through the consequences of posting such things online. It's not inconceivable that your forum handle could be cross-linked to other personally identifiable information on the internet.
