  • I wonder how many people will order one of these, only to then realise it can’t run on batteries?

I've ordered one knowing full well that it can't run on batteries!

And/or that there is no bpm display.

So, no warm sound from “low battery” distortion.

Also, wasn’t one of the unduckumented features (due to the use of static ram) that you could quickly disconnect then put back in one of the batteries to scramble the seq data, thus built-in randomising 🎲🎲

Behringer clone has randomisation so no need to mess with batteries 👍

Where are they at $150 as I’ve seen in many articles? I only see Sweetwater at $199.

150 euro in Europe so probably higher in US at the moment.

If you search “Behringer 303” a number of headlines say $150. But it was pointed out on Synthtopia that it’s not shipping yet so pricing is not final.

Psychologically $150 is a much more attractive price than $199! 😆

    Damn right! 😆

  • Probably can use ac to USB adapter with this? I'll probably try it with a Ripcord cable I have. Doubt they use much power.

  • Doesn’t seem to be available on thomman.de anymore. Went to see if they have the silver one but none are now listed.

  • TD-3 is a Roland Digital drum module. Are behringer Deliberately trying to pick a fight with Roland?

    Don't understand.
    The videos says exactly nothing.
    Is this an App? Hardware?

    It’s about lipstick.

  • Interesting comparison here:

  • that left/right audio is great example why layering is the way to perfect full rich organic sound :)

Never understood the left/right comparison thing, not useful to me really. They need to sort that filter calibration though but it sounds great.

Loopop has a really good video comparison. Sounds nice, but definitely sounds like the filter is more open by default than all the other clones or the original.

Agreed but I wish he would have tried to match the sounds. It was like having one slightly louder or out of tune from the rest. Judging from other videos it could have been closer.

  • Can’t believe this is the same price as a Volca...!

They just adjusted the price back to $150 today.

Tempting! But I think I’m going to get a new iPad first.

filter is a little more open,
I guess there is a trimmer for that.
    if not doesnt really matter.
it does all the resonant oink oinks it needs to do.

Why make a clone if its not exactly same? Isn't that the whole point? It’s not a clone otherwise. Just make a new take and design if you cant get it right.

  • edited November 2019

No two original 303s are exactly the same. The tolerances on the components were far from tight.

In the loopop test there is an original, a ‘replica’ and a clone that sound almost identical regardless of difference in component tolerances then you have a the behringer which doesn't sound the same. If a trimmer inside i'm sure it can sound closer. I prefer the sound of the original in this case.

made just for fun this one in Obsidian :) Yeah, it's not perfect clone, but considering fact it has completely different architecture and it's filters weren't designed as 303 filter clones at all, i think it's in some moments pretty close :)

  • Thread also inspired me to make some 303 screechy goodness
