is this a eq for poor quality headphones?

It's an EQ for all supported headphones, most of which are pretty high quality :)

That bit i don’t understand, why would you eq good quality headphones? You could be boosting digital frequencies into your ears?

Even excellent headphones can benefit from some correction as Samu says. There is no truly neutral headphone on the market, according to the measurements I've seen the HD650 is about the closest there is to neutral but even those may benefit from some slight corrections.

Do you think I’d be able to tell a difference on my Senn HD600 with this app?

I personally believe (without hearing your headphones myself) that you’ll tell the difference with every headphone they have listed.

Yes for sure, @dendy can hear a difference with the Senn HD650, and there is also a difference with the Focal Spirit Pro which has a similar sound signature to the Senns.

For some reason I can’t access the link to the supported headphones.
Can anyone tell me if AKG K702 is on the list (I’m assuming it is...)? Thanks

Li'l tip if you're using this during mixdown of a project in a DAW. If the DAW can be loaded in an AudioBus audio input position then you can load Morphit iafter it n the FX slot in Audiobus and not have to worry about remembering to disable it in the DAW when mixing down.

Yes you can use this with an audio interface.

  • I'm really happy with this purchase. Due to my living situation, I have to do my mixing with headphones and I'm constantly wondering just how badly their characteristics are coloring my mixes. I find myself rotating between different sets, trying to get things to sound OK on all of them. It takes a lot of time and the results are all over the place. This is going to be very, very helpful.

Agreed. I don’t have my Yamaha HS7’s setup at my new place so I’ve been on cans only doing the same with Apple iPhone headphones as my main set just because they are always with me and I tend to work on music whenever I have a chance which includes downtown at coffee shops or whatever. This will help even with those. Need to test with my MDR-V900’s (I’ve had for sooo long) and my DT-880 Pro’s which have a pretty harsh top end.

I have Sennheiser HD215, is that a older HD 218? @DJB can we request headphone to be included?

  • @DJB Wondering if similar functionality can work for Bluetooth speakers?

It would be fun to add prices to this list. I used to make web scrapers in Perl or Python that could do things like that. I wonder if there's an exiting script to search for products on a list and capture the price. Google is my friend. Hmm...

  • Flat!? I hate flat .. I want a headphone app that’ll give me the house mains at Ocean Way 😜

ha, well then you can expect your mixes to sound like doodoo on any other system.

  • I want to learn and I don't have any of the great headphones but I can see the effect with the Senn HD202 and ask for the HD600's better for my "big gift".

Senn HD202's are below the "free points" limit on my amazon account so no pushback.

I really like the ToneBoosters apps and want to whole set to show respect for their efforts with IOS.

I've been using some OneOdio Bluetooth headphones that have a "share port" and I can hear my iPad while I watch TV using Bluetooth without waking anyone up. Is there a device that connects to multiple Bluetooth inputs and has a hardwired headphone port? The OneOdio supports the export of the audio signal to a 2nd pair of headphones for 2 listening in effective silence. Good for
watching videos in a cheap hotel room at all hours.

  • The headphones not supported, as the chinese Kz, would be supported as generic?
    There would be some benefit?

Probably not, I think it can only be of benefit if there is an accurate correction curve for your particular cans.

Flat!? I hate flat .. I want a headphone app that’ll give me the house mains at Ocean Way 😜

ha, well then you can expect your mixes to sound like doodoo on any other system.

The problem isn’t mixing .. if I want to mix for iTunes, SoundCloud, Spotify, etc. I’ll use the same Tannoy PBM 6.5’s I’ve been using for 30 years .. cross check it on the Yamaha’s, then crank it up in the car. The problem is tracking .. being motivated by the bitchin sound coming into my ears from my synths, samplers, pianos, and organs, I’m never real motivated playing through NS10’s, Tannoy’s, or any flat monitors or headphones. My phones these days are Audio Technica M50’s .. and they sound tooo flat to me. I’ve literally sat in the control room of Ocean in Burbank more than once in the 90’s with my Roland synths blaring out of Freddy’s house main’s .. I want that sound in my headphones dawg on it! 🤪 ;)

I’ve been using Tannoy PBM 6.5’s for 20+ years also...Never had a bad mix come out of them...EVER!

lol, I'm just pointing out that it seems you're a bit confused as to what this app is for. It isn't to get your phones to sound bangin' so that you're inspired by the sounds. If you play on hyped system to get that inspiration, fine.
But for mixing, (which is the main purpose of this app) it would be foolish to do so, as you'll make it sound great on one system and it will sound awful elsewhere. There's a very good reason people who make the best mixes go to such great lengths to make a monitoring setup with the flattest frequency response possible, and do all kinds of room treatment to deal with phase issues.

Mixing with a hyped setup is like painting with rose colored sunglasses glasses on under a yellow lamp. Might get "interesting" results, just not the results you intended.

I want to learn and I don't have any of the great headphones but I can see the effect with the Senn HD202 and ask for the HD600's better for my "big gift".

My Sennheiser HD202's arrived today and I bought Morphit App. Making the headphones "flat" is not very dramatic but this is an exceptional visual EQ. I compared it to
the BarkFilter sound and could dial in a very similar sound. Then I compared to to
@Blue_Mangoo's Parametric Equalizer. I could again pretty much match the sound of the Bark Filter with the visual EQ controls. I'm sure Pro-Filter Q2 and Q3 will deliver the same ability to shape a custom EQ curve my ear.

So, this is yet another amazing visual EQ product with the added benefit of dozens of precise presets for all the common headphones used for mixing. It sounds great and is drop dead simple to use for general EQ control. No I'm coveting a really nice pair of headphones.

The Sennheiser HD202's are really cheap and do not have the comfort of some expensive cans but I was able to load a specific profile and hear the intended flat response results.
If someone does a lot of mixing and uses a lot of phones this would help provide as much uniformity as possible with the custom EQ curves making A+B comparisons closer.

Another really nice use case is monitoring. My Shure SE215 IEMS sounds much better with Morphit correction for saxophone/tracks monitoring, and even better with simulation. I love my Superlux HD681EVO sound Signature, so I correct SE215 then simulate HD681EVO at 70% and the result is quite amazing, giving a very pleasing and precise monitoring. Totally worth it!!!
