Any reason to get BLEASS filter or delay if you already have Filterstation2 and a billion delays?

There’s always a good reason. Anyway, they are great.

Bleass Delay is pretty cool and I find it super immediate. It's easier than most delays to just yank the controls around and params can be modulated.

    NFM by Nikolozi Pty Ltd

    Down from $9.99 to $4.99

The best FM synthesis app on IOS. Very underrated. The interface is great, and it's so easy to sculpt a sound using it. Closest thing to operator on IOS.

And even closer to NI FM7/FM8! The touchable FM-OP matrix and the OP envelope modules alone are worth the price. For preset junkies, KQ Dixie is great but if you create your own FM sounds (which is hard enough already) then NFM is very helpful and faster to program.
Got NPD too and so far they look like easy-to-use and great-sounding synths.

How would you compare its ease of use to the Digitone? I love my DN and would love an app similar to it. I find KQ Dixie unenjoyable to use.

Me too. i have no DN though, only a Digitakt.
It can only be easier for pure sound programming because you have the operator FM matrix and the envelopes for each op. available on a simple touch. Much faster than with KQ Dixie and certainly faster and more powerful (6 instead of 4 operators) than with the DN too. For pure sound design that is.
    But it's only a synth.
Of course the DN is very strong at sequencing, live control, P-locks, modulations etc., as a whole I would say the only halfway acceptable replacement for a Digitone would be Groove Rider with all your favorite FM sweeps from the DN burnt into wavetables for GR.

NFM is great for sound design and deep modulations, an insane amount of its params is available in the AU version and it not only has 6 operators but you're able to build any operator arrangement (algorithms in DX-talk) that you like, as opposed to the small fixed set in the DN.

Not necessarily. If your list of AUFX is too large, you won't use them all anymore.

I managed to get the bundle to go down to £3 by going in and out of it, so absolute no brainer in the end!

Kudos for the down to earth response here! A refreshing change from the all-too-frequent "yeah you can never have too many" line ...

We've been drawn to iOS for its simplicity, limitations and focus on the music.
Now what do we do when we've managed to clutter it up as much as our desktop systems?
    Get a Deluge? :D

KQ Dixie makes FM so easy to use. Have you changed the ugly default theme? Just got NFM, but while well designed, I don't think it's better. Plus not many presets included.

  • I can't make heads or tails of KQ Dixie.

It's only two or three taps more in KQ Dixie to change something but if you're really into sound design, that quickly adds up to 200 or 300 taps more. With FM synthesis, you're constantly changing the different mod depths and envelopes and that's the main difference for me. Both sound great.

  • Sound design in DFM is fun and fluid. I’ve never found Dixie remotely fun to program. It makes the dx7 tolerable maybe but it’s still a slog.

But I use dfm for drums, percussion, pads bass, drones - very versatile synth. It’s pretty fantastic for long evolving soundscapes. Feed it through a trance gate and instant fun.

KQ Dixie first made me want to scream and then made me want a Volca FM.

Well Indeed! Right now I’m being far more musically productive and inventive with far fewer tools on the iPad than I’ve been for ages on the desktop ... 🤔

Since getting them a while back, they're usually my 1st choice when grabbing a delay OR a filter.. don't know exactly why - BUT - my ears are obviously tuned to them.. and I use them with guitar quite frequently, especially the delay.. I guess I just like the way they sound + that they're so easy to tweak..

I, too agree with this sentiment. For those reasons, I'm usually putting these guys on first. Filter was the only one I didn't have untill today and I love it! The presets display what can be done with this filter and I shouldn't have slept on this one.

this is the best news I've heard in a while. I find it to be one of the most inspiring sequencers on ios, but I was worried it'd been forgotten.

  • Agree, that was excellent.

  • Totally worth it! This app is soooo much fun!!!
