It's not that hard to put L7 on a channel with mix bus input, then use a bus send on any channel you want to capture at the time. This is what I do with any looper. I never really feel the need for more than one instance of a looper at a time.

Enso is handy to be able to just drop in where you need it though, I will admit. Maybe a single-loop version of L7 with multi-instances would be a decent tradeoff.

Yep. Once I figured this out, made me really enjoy this app. The thing I like the most is the set loop length. Easy to drum up some awesome loops to export to other apps. The one thing that keeps me from using loopy.

Simple bus send won’t cut it for me. I use Guitar and different loopers as different „overdubs“ and arrange them later as a track inside Cubasis. I can take it from there with more midi instruments or whatnot

That’s the best way i came up with til now to port my workflow into a DAW
Context to finally make some music I can arrange, master, Mix, export and put together

Eh? You can do fixed loop lengths with Loopy. You can also use AB and AUM together to do send routings in the same way. @espiegel123 did some nice tutorials on this.

Heh. Maybe one day I'll give it another go. I waffled around with it a few times and didn't find it very intuitive for me. Couldn't really get what I want done with it. Picked L7 up and was very straight forward plus AUv3. Same issue with Enso. Just not easy to get up and go. Just wanted something that I could turn on, push a button and record. Have enough of a time figuring out all the fx, synths and daw apps to watch tutorials on loopers. Audiokit apps just seem to with for me. I will say that L7 with AB3 is pretty good though.

Yeh, I'm not trying to push any direction. I just like to throw the options out there so as many people as possible know what's available to them.

BTW, I did a quick tutorial and video on easy workflow for looping with Enso. I'm not much of a fan of the app, but it is easy to set up and works very smoothly for limited tasks: https://wiki.audiob.us/doku.php?id=tutorial_lower_session_cpu_usage_with_enso&s[]=enso

That was pretty good and short. Thanks.

  • Hey all - I’m having an issue with L7. Whenever I overdub a loop I get some really gnarly distortion that’s played back while recording. Once it switches to playback afterwards the overdubbed signal sounds normal. The distortion has a bit-reduction quality to it. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas?

    Example:

  • @kgmessier said:
Is anyone using L7 with an iRig BlueBoard? I'm using one to trigger loops to record, but when I press the assigned BlueBoard button, it triggers multiple loops to start recording simultaneously.

Did you figure out the best way to setup L7 with the BlueBoard? I have it and the MIDI bindings seem to work but I'm coming from QuantiLoop and trying to figure out how to set things up intuitively. I think unlike QuantiLoop I need to have all 4 buttons doing things independently because I don't think it recognizes short vs. long presses.

hey everyone, I'm relatively new to all this, but I've got some issues.
On the latest iOS 14.3 on my iphone X, I can't get L7 to startin audiobus. Runs from audiobus 3 but just never links. Is anyone else having this problem? Other apps link, but just not this one.
Also, with the midi bindings, is it possible to bind play/stop to one button, as well as record track X bars, or record auto length and stop recording to one button? Is there a reason this isn't a default feature that I'm not aware of?

Hey, any luck with that? I've got the exact same issue with L7, the app is in a costant sleep mode and I haven't found a solution to link it with Audiobus yet

  • No, I did manage to get Daniel on twitter, but he's still working on it.

    Hi there.
    I am a both an AUM and a L7 newbie !
I made live looping session, recorded some loops, everything went fine. I chose to save the session in L7 and also in AUM. Tempo was 91. On the next day, I opened the AUM session, so all the AU instruments and effects were in place (Man this is fantastic by the way!). But in L7, there is now a short blank at the end of each loop, that wasn’t here when I did my session on the previous day. What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks for your help and for this amazing tool !!!
    Take Care.

Hey there, thanks for letting me know! I will take a look and try my best to get this fixed ASAP.

  • The gap at the end of the tracks is not fixed. This just happened to me today.

  • Is there a similar looper Auv3? I bought L7 long time ago and the looper is exactly what I want for a looper but each week I have at least 1 problem with the looper. Yesterday it crasched 2x.

I have Audio Damage Enso but I prefer something linear where you can see each track.

It is stable but it isn’t really a looper. If L7’s functionality is what you were after, Loopy has that without the stability issues and has a lot more functionality to boot. (And a developer committed to its future)

Agree. My answer was just for the question of 4 pockets’ recorder being more stable, and if we’re just comparing that and L7, while the latter is supposed to be the looper specialist, Multitrack Recorder can be set up to record them, and given the crash issues I’ve had with L7, Multitrack Recorder is more stable and faster to record them since I don’t need to often restart and hope I don’t keep crashing like I did with L7.

But yeah, Loopy Pro is likely the way to go, I just don’t want to spend that much money just yet, and maybe for whatever reason that’s also not an option for the OP.

Multitrack recorder is more stable for sure. However I had some problems in the past with sampling rate, audio that would speed up or slow down due to sampling rate discrepancies.
Have you considered Neon by 4pockets?. It would work well as a looper plus you have a bunch of options and audio editing. I use Loopy or Zenbeats for looping now but Neon is a very nice Clío looper and launcher.
If you don’t need a ton of instances Enso looper Is also nice. I found that when using more than, say 5, instances it would crash but it’s got some very nice features and it’s more straightforward.

Yep.... Another fail from the Audiokit stable. I wish they would be a bit more rigorous in their beta testing and not release sub par stuff. When they get it right, it's good. But things like this and that drum machine are extremely damaging for the brand

  • L7 remains my go to app for quick live audio sampling and copying into Reslice (you can’t record direct into the AUv3) - so it is good for something…

  • @Gavinski : l7 was the work of an individual working under the company name Coda Labs. his giving up work on it isn’t on “the Audiokit stable”.

It's sad because all their apps are appealing. The FM player is a app that I really like, but again, yesterday, I experience some glitches and crashs.

L7 and FM Player are in my top apps on paper but still no stable after all these years.

To be clear, L7 was written by an independent dev. The Audiokit folks did promote it, but the developer (Coda Labs) is independent and seems to have abandoned it.

MultiTrack recorder is nice as a sort of built-in multitrack recorder/player -- if recording independent clips and loops -- I'd think one would be happier with something designed with that use-case. There are some looping abilities but they are, in my opinion, a bit of a hassle.
