No it’s not! This forum is great if you need reasons to justify to yourself why you are going to buy an app regardless of need...
Just kidding (not really)
Your post is a must-have instaread 😅
Anyone using Pure Acid for hip hop?
On the fence with some Christmas funds, but eyeing that baseline sequencer. Just don’t really produce anything like what most of the videos demonstrate.
I’ve been playing with it trying to get non ‘acid’ sounds out of it. You can get a sound almost like a palm muted bass/guitar from the bass module. The drum sequencer has samples from 808,909 etc. I reckon you could definitely do hip hop if you use the au
Yes, that’s often the case I’m sure. But in this case, I read that MonzoPro didn’t think the learning curve was too tough... then I watched Jacob’s video to get a rough idea of the sound, etc... then I read some reviews. All positive.
The only negative posts I found about it were the incessant old crusties on synthtopia caterwauling about how it’s “not real music”, “should get a banjo instead”, “back in the day”... which kinda made me want Pure Acid more.
The Pure Acid review that had me hitting the buy button was from Cult of Mac:

The bundles are really cool and BM3 is becoming my first use daw.
Ha! Yeah, who was I trying to fool?.. but it sounded good at that moment.. 😁
+1

Scalegen just went down again to $1.99
And
Gesturement Pro was just reduced even more down to $4.99
Do they sound pretty good? I’ve been considering those
Gestrument Pro down to $4.99?! What?!! Seems like it should have near Samplr-level cult status.
Pure Synth Platinum is amazing and it only totaled 6.5 GB I thought it would be closer to 9 or 10gb
Wish i could see more videos on this especially on getting less acid bass sound out of the bass sequencer.
2 Fraser Stuart apps
Outta Bass - $2.99
Keynality - $0.99
Try something like this:
Basically turned everything down. Then try adding a subtle amount of distortion etc.
Cool thanks!

Between this and Poison-202, it’s time to delete my Appsliced account and enter a 12 step program for app buyers.
I justify it for myself because I used to buy CDs almost every Tuesday when they used to drop on Tuesdays.
Now with regular app purchases, I’m actually spending much less than the 2-3 $13 CDs once a week.
And, I think constantly learning new and sometimes idiosyncratic interfaces helps to keep the mind sharp. The wife plays games, crosswords, and Sudoku for the brain 🧠... I learn new iOS audio app interfaces
I justify my appaholism in a few ways...
1- what can you do for $10 or so that brings hours an hours of fun, not much. A movie tix is $13-$15 and last 2 hours, for example.
2- It’s only the cost of a pack of cigarettes, which I unfortunately purchase quite often. If I’m spending $6.50 - $7 on that every couple days, why not spend it on something lasting, fun, useful, and healthy for my mind.
Yeah, this is my same dangerous line of reasoning. Let's not talk about just how badly that went for me over the holiday sales... but I saved so much money!
Crap, I just talked myself into getting Volt from explaining how I justify my appaholism... Lol!
And now I'm buying Outta Bass.
Hmm, I’m a product designer or UX/UI designer for a living. What you’ve just said has made me reassess my entire life’s purpose. Fuck UX. I’m giving it up.
It’s the world of politics for me from now on. Who will support me? The Purple Party. Manifesto soon!
Lol
Yeah... some can be a bit of a challenging puzzle to figure out for sure.
As for politics... FFS it’s so poisonous now. I wish you could just hit a button that filtered it ALL out for a day or so... just for a break before the soul is completely crushed. That’s what’s nice about this site. Lately there hasn’t been any, and before that it was being squelched quickly.
Ah, wait and see. Mine‘ll make sense.
Transcends politics ... but at the same time something uniquely human to it - making music. It's why all decent rebellions start with songs.
I find the co-operative, enthusiastic atmosphere here deeply invigorating - like a massage or a spa. Reminds me what we can be when we are allowed to be human.
A grand justification for my chronic Appaholism ... it's my way of chipping in - making a contribution to a very interesting, rapidly evolving fusion of technology and human nature.
I reckon that's profoundly political down deep.
Any specials that will expire at the end of year?
