My beloved Pro 12.9 1st gen is all but plug-in only at this point and I'm also wondering about where the market is these days. I'd like to ask a slightly different question: From an IOS music-making point of view, and WITHOUT CONCERN FOR COST, what do you think is the BEST iPad for music making at this point?

Probably the Air 3, but if you need more than 256gb then it has to be a Pro.

What's up with the Pro? You've had that less time than my Air 2 - has the battery gone?

I'd like a big Pro for art purposes, but the budget's never gonna stretch that far - so an update on what I have should keep me going for a few more years.

I love the Pro, my fave piece of technology ever purchased etc but the battery (with certain apps) lasts two or three minutes. Which is fine.....but irritating :) Spoilt rotten, that's my trouble, but the Kid's just got into college for next year and it's going to be an expensive run, so I'm just trying to figure what needs to be snuck under the serious wire etc :)

Blimey that’s bad, I still get a few hours out of my Air2. Why don’t you send it off to Apple and have the battery replaced? You’d get a few more years out of it that way, and keep the Mrs happy.

Even a battery that is a few years old should have way more life than that. The exorbitant battery replacement cost should still be less than replacing the iPad.

Thank you chaps. I shall have a consider.
