  • awesome im on it....I already have it on my ipad 2

  • line6 did something cool with their new amplify...not to change the hat

  • ok.... where is it....it is 9:52.... still waiting... :)

  • Just updated with IAA also.

  • great stuff, I like using my moog theremin with JamUp so this just adds a whole new level of sound experience

  • and it is compatible with iPad Mini but not iPad 2...

That makes no sense to me. oh well.

    Ipad version costs more.

I've always loved jamup/bias series but think these should of been universal, I have got many of their add-ons (all), only to find out I will have to purchase them again for iPhone version, as well as the Auria version.

  • I never had to repurchase the IAPs for my other device unless something has changed with this new release.

@yowza, Positive Grid did great making things universal for JamUp. (which I think you are talking about)

We, however, are talking about BIAS, which seems to have unnecessary limitations. My main complaint is that if it can run on iPad Mini, it should run on iPad 2. I tried to give Positive Grid $4.99 this morning and they wouldn't let me :-/

Another issue it seems: anyone who has BIAS on their iPad will have to re-purchase all their BIAS IAPs if they want to use the app on their iPhone. (edit: not sure if this is actually a problem... cause I can't buy it.)

  • I'm probably stating the obvious but Bias doesn't have IAPs (yet) and is a separate app from JamUp.

@WMWM I just checked and JamUp is Universal and any IAPs you buy on one device show up on another (with same account). You do have to log in and restore purchases etc.

The Auria version of JamUp is a separate thing but with JamUp getting IAA I probably don't need it.

Does BIAS have IAPs? I haven't even looked at that yet.

Edit: If Bias has IAPs I can't find them. Please enlighten me.

  • I stand corrected, trying again to restore IAP on iPhone version they did.

Thanks for the heads up Yowza.

  • I can't find them either...

If Bias works inside JamUp on the phone like it does on the iPad I'll be happy.

It would have been nice if Bias was Universal and not have to purchase it separately for the phone but I'm glad they are at least offering an intro price on the phone version.
I got mad when I bought the iPad version when it first came out and then just a few weeks later they lowered the price two different times. That ticked me off!!

  • So... here's a question: If I make a BIAS amp on the iPad, can I share that amp to JamUp on my iPhone? If so, I'll just get BIAS for iPad next time it is on sale.

  • Just so everyone knows, it is available now and on sale for $4.99

  • Hey, I was looking at bias for ipad today at £13.99 in the uk (ouch) so £2.99 sounds like a great deal, but....does it have the same functionality? The size is almost the same.

  • What would be a benefit of having both, particularly for one who has never used an iPhone for music production?

I don't think that's how it works. From what I understand Bias and JamUp have to be on the same device. Once you create an amp in Bias you can open it up in JamUp and use it. I remember reading somewhere that when you do this it's less CPU intensive than using Bias but don't quote me on that. I don't think there's a way to save the amp you create in Bias to export it anyway.

  • They do have to be on the same device and they seem to work identically. As far as sharing between the iPad and iPhone, I would assume you can just share your preset from one device and download it to the other, though I haven't tried it yet...

Maybe I misunderstood Htmx but it sounded like he wanted to share the preset to another device that has JamUp but doesn't have Bias installed. If you don't have Bias you can't open an amp created in Bias even if you do have JamUp.

  • Yep, Yowza understood me. Thanks for the info.

    Got inspired

    In order of appearance:

Bias, impaktor, seekbeats, sunrizer, loopy hd

  • At $5, any one know if there is any difference between the iPhone and iPad version? Do you just get the same functionality at a lower res?

It's nice! I like it, especially how Bias make the guitar sounds dynamics and warm.

  • Other people asked (@JamMaestro and @supadom) but no one answered: What's the difference between the ipad and iphone versions other than display/layout?

    • Any missing functionality?
    • Rotation?
    • If you have both on your ipad, is the ease of use with the iPad version worth the extra scratch to you? Sunrizer (all on one screen) vs SunrizerXS comes to mind as an example.
    • Can you use bias for iphone on your ipad and still open the amps in jam up on ipad?

It's no longer $4.99 but it is 13 bucks cheaper! I use my iphone as a pre processor for my guitar a lot so I want it there if I get it all but would likely want it on the ipad too! Obviously, I'd rather not pay twice (sorry @positivegrid).

Also, can it process stereo signals when used on its own in AB or IAA?

None that I can tell so far. The screen real estate is obviously different, but all the functionality appears to work the same between the two

    • Rotation?

Only landscape mode, just like iPad

I honestly haven't been that put off by the smaller screen, but then I have been using BM2 on my iPhone for a while too. I think if you can use BM2 on your iphone you can get used to any app.

    • Can you use bias for iphone on your ipad and still open the amps in jam up on ipad?

Negative. iPhone Bias into iPhone Jamup only. iPad Bias into...well, you get it.

It's the best sound I can get out of my iPhone and I have all the popular modelers (Amplitube, Jamup, AmpKit). I would have gladly dropped 10 bucks on it. Happy I got it on sale. It's a quality app imo.

Also, can it process stereo signals when used on its own in AB or IAA?

I honestly don't know. I'll have to check tonight to be sure, but I'm 99% sure the iPad version does via IAA. I'll confirm though.
