The one thing you can learn from history is that people never learn anything from history.

True, we’re still trying to fulfill the ambition of ‘worldwide peace and harmony’ hoped for by the people’s of Sumer and Akkad around 5 millennia ago.

  • @knewspeak i need to believe we will change before it’s too late...

    We are an ancient species.

This is a mere blip when you look at it like that but
when we're in the thick of things we can't see a way out.

When we learn to calm our inner voice then we can
implement the answers to the problems of today.

    So in answer to @knewspeak

We remember history, the vision of Sumer and Akkad is still alive today.
We have some notable names that kept the vision alive.
    It will happen.
    Patience is required.

This evolutionary branch is over 150,000 + years.

    in answer to @crony

    We will change.
    We have to.

    It begins with us.

    Peace 🖖🏽

  • Actually saw a billboard for Aussie donations in Savannah, Georgia. The world is thinking about this.

    Now that is good news.

    Keep them coming.

  • I read the article and saw the photos.

    Sorrow.

    We can do this.

We have more than hope and plenty of it.

    Peace.

  • On the photos I can only see a few tiny spots, I'd be very interested in the scale regarding Australia though :/

Approx. 10 Mha so far, or roughly 1.5% of the total land mass.

  • Im all for direct action, but im also into time management and focuss, here is the problem i have with using audiobus for this. Every single day animals are slaughtered in mass, living in despicable conditions and dieing even worse because our species " believes" it is our " right" to exploit and enslave because some stupid book says they were " put here for our consumption " So if you wanna save the planet from burning, start in your kitchen. Or is it like we do with humans, some humans have rights but others, if they are far away or another color than us , well they dont matter. Its sad but true. That said, I would honestly prefer to do my activism and donating to charity when it is NOT during my music production time. When i come to audiobus, the last thing i expect is to get a continuation of the alarmist panic of the day. I dont wanna see the news at audiobus, i dont wanna see the slightest tiniest bit of outside world distractions from my music production. Many people come here to answer little questions they have while in the middle of music making, everyelse we get non stop distractions but errrrrr

    Switch off the internet.

    Therefore no distractions.

If you need a question answered then switch the internet back on.

    Simple.

  • I think that was posted by a Bot: A good "AI" but one that would fail the Turing test
    for faking humanity.

I'm going to donate for relief. I am moved to tears for us all. I guess I come here for the humanity and the Q and A's.

Done. I feel better now. Especially considering what @Michael has done for music makers.
If he asks for help, I'm in. One of the IOS Music "Hall of Fame" figures. Maybe the First "Life Time Achievement" winner in my book.

Thank you for the heads up.

    Impressive for sure.

  • ...the last thing i expect is to get a continuation of the alarmist panic of the day.

Not so much the intrusion - more that you don't agree with the science @Cyp3.

Don't know who you think will be listening to your music if this just keeps on going. Existence is not a distraction.

  • In Australia right now we are seeing all kinds things start to happen - even as the bushfires abate in some places.

Dust storms (https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/jan/20/huge-dust-storms-hit-central-new-south-wales) and huge hail just a short distance away (https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/jan/20/severe-thunderstorms-and-hail-to-batter-south-eastern-australia). Rivers that have been dry for five years are now in spate. Fish are being mass poisoned in rivers from bushfire ash. We still have a massive drought and ongoing hottest years on record.

We are also beginning to assess the extent of extinctions or near extinctions that may have happened in the fires.

So lots of things need assistance here now - but if you want to try to stop it and don’t know how to start please consider your diet. Read this, for example.

‘If cows were a country they would rank third in greenhouse gas emissions, after China and the United States’

‘(Safran Soer) thinks that above all we need to get away from thinking in binary terms. “If someone says to me, you know, I couldn’t give up chicken, or cheese, or burrata, that’s fine, just eat much less of it, or only eat it for dinner. The goal is not to perfect a virtuous identity for yourself. The goal is to reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere.”‘

  • @Cyp3... pardon me, but exactly who are you? Yes, you want what you want. Very true. Are you aware that the person who started this thread created Audiobus and the Audiobus forum? Without his creativity, cause you haven’t created your own forum as far as I can tell, you would be posting your displeasure... well... nowhere. AND you are not forced to read any thread. Stick to what you are interested in. Use this forum as, I am guessing, you use everything else, for your own entire benefit.
You can do that, no one will prevent you. This forum is a generous place. Try to leave it clean and tidy, just as you found it.

You are dressing down a Bot. It did it's job... it shamed me into actually doing something. So, even a Bot serves a purpose for a better world. It allows us to feel something... even if it's a negative emotion.

That feeling made me consider myself.

I was avoiding @Michael's simple and ernest plea to care about someone in pain. So, a portion of my effort could be credited to the Bot and it's effort to make me understand why I come here and what it has meant to me and so many others I have learned to care about.

We can get back to the quest for true IOS Mastery which is a never ending quest.

  • While we are on the subject of bots and AI:

Since these fires happen every year this being the most out of control since the 70s one would think that hundred of thousands of drones being able to pick up water and go to certain areas and drop the water and then do it over and over again could be built?

GPS with heat-cameras could determine the fires and how they evolve, the drones could be AI based on the data from the GPS or anyone anywhere in the world with a certain ”online fire fighter” certificate could fly these drones themselves controlling it (since the drone has a camera) and do the job anywhere in the world in case of emergency. This would also apply to Brazil and anywhere else in the world where these things happen.

Lastly African countries and anywhere else where there is problems with droughts would never have to worry again about droughts, make it rain with the drones ;)

    Talking about drones.

They are capable of carrying water and are also
able to reseed vast areas in a much shorter space
    of time than conventional means.

During the Amazon fires at the end of last year
I contacted two drone companies that specialise
    in reforesting damaged forests.

    Neither replied.

In regards to countries that have major drought.

It needs a combination of long lived plants
to create a root network to hold the earth
together otherwise the earth acts as a giant sieve
and the rain simply drains away.

Good idea though I must agree.

Thanks for letting me know about drones already being capable of carrying water and everything else you wrote. Also many thanks about droughts and what needs to be done. :)

I would love to see a kickstarter or any other funding campaign with top engineers explaining that this is possible and how it should be done.

+1 in regards to the Kickstarter for sure.

    No worries.

It's a concern we all share.

Here's one company that do reseeding.

It isn't one of the ones that I had contacted but you'll get the picture.

  • In the context of global heating bringing extreme weather (and being a key factor in things like the catastrophic bushfires) - and following my earlier link to the story on the massive hailstorm here in Australia a couple of days ago - here is an example of how these extreme events can cause problems no one could foresee.

By the way, the fires are still burning. We had a brief bit of rain in Sydney but it made no difference. This is my car after the rain. That’s ash.
