  • @kv331audio_bulent any findings on the inability to map CC 74 with an external midi controller?

Please add a new menu item “Add to Favorites” above My Favorites (or inside “My Favorites” submenu) in the header menu where it displays current preset name. This will help us mark the current preset as favorite without having to go to Browser - and navigate to next preset to continue our auditions from the Synth area. Current,y, we are required to go to Browser to mark a preset as fav and switch back to Synth if we want to turn off arp, etc.

Also, a new Load Random Favorite menu option. To reduce the vertical menu size (for iPhone), you could group the 3 items as sub menus under Load menu like so -

Load > Default, Random, Random Favorite

Later on, you can add a 4th sub menu “Randomize” (under Load menu) that we discussed before

Please allow us to filter Public presets in the Browser with its own Public Presets bank. Currently, there is no way to see which presets got downloaded from public library.

Needless to say, the item in the header menu should be a toggle - Add to Favorites / Remove from Favorites.

I'll add that in the next update, as a star icon next to the preset name on the top header.

  • Doesn’t quite fit on my iPhone SE screen.

Perfect! This will also indicate visually if the current preset is a favorite or not.

  • Is anybody else experiencing performance issues with this new version compared with the old? I just updated to the new version and bought the new presets. Things were going pretty good until I imported my own custom presets into it. I’m now getting some crackles and pops with some of my pad type patches that I don’t get with the old version. Fortunately I still have another iPad with the old version .. the same presets are smooth as silk on it. Are there some settings I should check on this new version perhaps? The iPad with the new version is a 2nd generation 12.9” iPad Pro with 4gb ram running IOS 13.3, the iPad with the old version on it is a 2nd generation 10.5” iPad Pro with 4gb ram running IOS 11.3 Thanks

Clear / Remove Modulation does not work (tap on a knob that has modulation and choose these menu options but modulation persists)

I marked about 200 presets as favorites on iPad and synced up with cloud. In the process, it asked if I want to delete a few presets from cloud that I deleted locally. I said Yes and it finished the sync. (Later when I tried this test again after doing sync from iPhone as below, it asked the same question again and got stuck in a hourglass with the menu open and I had to force-close the app. It is now asking the same question every time I try to sync on iPad).

After sync on iPad, My Favorites bank and favorites are gone until I relaunched the app. (This happens every time we sync and refreshed only after quitting and relaunching app)

I launched SM1 on iPhone, tapped sync and it said sync finished but my favorites did not download. Sync on iPhone should have also deleted a few presets that I created and deleted on iPad and synced to cloud - but these local presets remained on iPhone after sync. I quit iPhone app, did relaunch and sync and it says no changes detected - no fav presets synced and no local presets deleted. Tried again - same result.

Cannot sync favorites from iPad to iPhone through cloud. Both devices use same registration info.
(Sync worked once before with a couple of favorites but now it doesn’t)

On iPad standalone > Expand keyboard dialog > can this dialogue have 3 keyboards instead of 2 ? There is enough room to have 3 keyboards on the top (total 4 keyboards including the bottom one). This would expand the simultaneous keyboard octave range

In AU, there is no Expand option even in full screen. You could offer 2 keyboards on the top in Expand mode (total 3 including bottom one)

Closing of synth area menus is broken a bit. Earlier, you made them to close only on touching synth areas and keep them open while touching the keyboard ideally. Now, menus are closing on touching the keyboard too and we have to navigate through drill down menus all over again which is not ideal for sound design.

It’s not clear saving presets as. It is showing only one bank “User” to save to in the save dialog. I remember I created this bank sometime back. However, SM1 has also created My Presets bank and another bank Presets (?) and these are not listed on save dialog. I think My Presets bank should also be displayed in save dialog. Otherwise, I end up saving presets under User bank when there is a My Presets bank showing same Presets from User bank.

Not sure about the purpose of Presets bank when there is already Factory Presets bank. However, I see 1283 factory presets and 1282 presets.

Some of my presets are being listed in both User bank and also My Presets bank in the Browser and I’m not able to get rid of User bank.

Also, in Attributes, if I change the bank name for a preset from User to My Presets, it is not getting modified and going back to User bank again.

Under what circumstances is the waveform is displayed in Routing tab? Most of the time it displays waveform while twisting the Index and quickly goes back to routing info. At times, the waveform graph stays on somehow as long as I don’t select a different routing filter to force it to go back to routing info.

Reusing routing tab to display waveform is not ideal as it can only accommodate one or the other. Waveform graph in routing tab also displays the path to the wave table that is used in the current preset. Not able to identify which wave table is being used without twisting the index knob is a drawback. When I tap Osc Waveform dropdown, it doesn’t auto drill down the menu to highlight which wave table is used in the current preset. The waveform/wavetable info in the Routing tab is not displayed until we twist a knob and thereby end up modifying the preset.

I guess we could have two radio buttons in the Routing tab to switch between routing/waveform display showing path to wave table. Or more ideally, add a new tab (horizontally scrollable tab bar) for separate wave table graph and path section.

EDIT: noticed that after choosing a wave table, close the menu and tap the waveform icon again, it displays the wavetable in the Routing tab and doesn’t get replaced by routing info for sometime.

In Mod Matrix, menus are auto drilled down into submenus and selected options are highlighted nicely.

But synth area menus just open the top level menu and don’t drill down into the sub menus to highlight the selected options and we don’t know which wave table was selected for the preset.

EDIT: Also, the Sub Osc menus are drilling down into sub menus but highlighting wrong items.

  • It seems I can’t automate the OSC 1: Tone parameter via BM3 anymore on my iPad. This is probably because of the addition of a set of new parameters on SM One and BM3 having some kind of hard limit on the # of accessible parameters for AU plugins. Anyone have a tip / workaround for this?

Deleting and reinstalling iPad app got rid of the repeated dialog about deleting some of my presets from cloud that I deleted locally.

Deleting and reinstalling iPhone app and syncing from cloud restored Favorites from iPad to iPhone through cloud.

It was weird that it did not sync before until I deleted and reinstalled the iPhone app.

I purchased the iPad version of SynthMaster One a few months ago but when I try to download the new iPhone version there is a charge.

When I hit the purchase button thinking it’s maybe just an error it tells me I have insufficient store credit. I tried signing out of my iTunes account and signing back in but still having the same problem.

I thought since it’s universal I wouldn’t get charged for the iPhone version since I already have the iPad version but it doesn’t seem to be the case. Please advise.

Download the iPad version to your phone. The iPad version is universal but the phone version is a different app.

    @kv331audio_bulent

Yes, this is a biggee. I was wondering what was going on with my old BM3 sessions sounding strange yesterday. Previous automation that worked no longer automates and I cannot create new automation of most parameters, such as Filter 1 cutoff.

It looks like the parameter list in BM3 is very incomplete now (or at least it is not what it used to be prior to the latest Synthmaster One update). Here is a video where I compare it to the AU parameter list accessible in AUM, which seems to show them all...

In BM3 the first set of 26 or 27 parameters show up along with the Arp category but any categories after that fail to be accessible. I sure hope I can recover the automation I had going in about a hundred BM3 sessions.

  • I can confirm the AUv3 automation issue with BM3. It doesn’t work anymore.

Here is more detailed description about the UI size issue in BeatMaker3:
The UI Elements of SynthMaster One, are still cropped out
on the iPad Pro 3rd gen 12’9:

  • @roman_ch
I don't see VLFO (LFO3) section in your screenshots

You are right. This UI size doesn't contain this LFO.

What can I say, the UI in BM3 can be 2 sizes only - Number 3 (large), and Number 4 (broken MID-size, as I number them)
Sorry for the big screens, this is about the UI, and I guess it is important...

Let's keep BM3 for a while, and inspect SM One UI sizes with AUM:

This is how it looks in AUM:
Number 1: Compact (small screen). I can scroll it and access all elements:

**Number 2: Normal view. **Looks like everything is nice:

Number 3: The Large view. Everything is fit in to the screen (but it was difficult and I found this view unusable, because hard to control all other elements), and also we lost one of LFOs - VLFO (as you noticed, @MobileMusic ):

But. There is one more view size - the Number 4 I found in AUM:
This UI layout is cropped, and I can't scroll it.

Also the same UI size In the BeatMaker 3

You can see the same "right side crop problem" in both DAW.

This UI size Number 4 is the view that BM3 try to fit by default.
BM3 is never switch to layout Number 2 on 12'9 iPad

Only Number 4, and UI size Number 3. Both have problems.

    @kv331audio_bulent Hope this helps.

I really hope this can be fixed with existing automation as I was in the process of exporting all of my BM3 sessions for mixing. I have pretty much been using Synthmaster One in BM3 nonstop since it came out and now everything is unusable.

DAWs are supposed to store parameter IDs, not indexes. I'll check this issue after returning home from NAMM.

I'm sorry for this BUT we can NOT support each and every DAWs custom size (especially in a $19 app which has really low sales despite all of our efforts at the expense of frustrating our SynthMaster users). They must adapt to at least GarageBand sizes.

Until we come out with "autolayout", we'll have such issues.

Great, thanks! Hope Namm was fruitful/fun!

  • @kv331audio_bulent thanks for the interesting answer, but I am not only the BeatMaker3 user, I had show you screens from the AUM also.

What do you mean about GarageBand sizes? SynthMasters UI is also broken in the GarageBand.

No 3rd LFO in the fullscreen layout:

Something is wrong with SM UI layouts on 12’9 iPads.
I hope you will take it in attention.
