  • Yes it is: the results of a Soma fix and the viewing of a Doug lay-back style video seem to me to be delicately intermingled. So too is Doug's suggested relaxation app, Scapes, which I use instead of Soma.

  • Mmmmmmm Soma

sorry to go terribly off topic: there's a song from Tuxedomoon, called Soma. Winston Tong, a genius performer/singer, cited from Huxley's 'Brave New World' by the letter. I read the novel, and several years later I heard Tuxedomoon's 'Soma' for the first time, and recognised immediately the phrases from the book. I think it's a brilliant song, like everything Tong has made.

Tuxedomoon is one of my most important influences, so please forgive me for mentioning that song here.

"Half a gram for a half holiday. One gram for a weekend. Two grams for a trip to ... [insert original text here, I don't have it available right now] ... three, for a dark eternity ... on the moon."

Brilliant novel, I should get it again and read again.

Now back to Z3TA, sorry again. It's not polite to post things like this, it just took my by instinct/desire.

  • Phil999, the whole purpose of Soma is to suppress "instinct/desire", so please, take 2 grams, lie down, and the feeling will pass ;-).

what a perfect reply, Yan. Thank you, there's no doubt you're one of those people who know a lot.

But no, we don't want to advocate drugs of any kind. But seduce people to read the novel and other good literature. And of course to make good music.

"The world's stable now. People are happy. They get what they want, and they never want what they can't get. They're well off. They're save. They're never ill. They're not afraid of death. They're blissfully ignorant of passion and old age. They plague with no mothers or fathers. They got no wives or children or loves to feel strongly about. They're so well conditioned that they practically can't help behave as they ought to behave. And, if anything goes wrong, there's Soma. There's always Soma. Delicious Soma."

"No more loans, no doors, no nerves, just an endless ride. No more sick, no more hell, no more confusion now there's Soma."

Taken from Tuxedomoon's song from my ear, not entirely sure if the text is right. But the text is so great, I just had to post it now.

It's 2 am, most people sleep, I allowed myself to post this Huxley text here. It's an exception, I won't do this kind of thing again.

  • Or in our case , Dance with the Stars, Honey Booboo, or reality Tv and of course the corperate news networks.
