  • Finally dig it (Spectrum) and how it works in general.
A little experiment with Spectrum as melodic source:

  • @Krupa

    Really liked the combination of
the visuals and the sonic landscape.
    Yeah, get it out there.
    It's really cool.

    @Identor

    That grooves.
    Looking forward to hearing more.

  • Thanks @Gravitas - it's definitely getting out soon, been working on credits today and will probably start dropping verses into social media over the weekend to drive people towards the main event...

I have Spectrum, and i'm lazy in reading manuals. I want to dive right into it. Although i opened it in AUM a few times, i can't really understand the workings. I should read the manual after all, haha.
Sometimes, music app's are straightforward, and sometimes i think: "What am i looking at?"
Fiddling knobs one at a time (consuming) can make things clearer.
Although i understand the basics of synthesis (i have a electronics background), but sometimes i'm lost in what is going on.
That is the same with Spectrum.
A pointer to myself: " READ THE MANUAL!" haha.
A reminder to myself: Keep exploring the things you don't understand and grasp the meaning behind it.
I was blown away by an article on CDM (Create Digital Music) . I like the Abstract content in it.
    https://cdm.link/2020/02/alva-noto-unieqav/
I wonder if Spectrum has a use in this sort of musical content.

Whoa. Alva Noto, now here’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. Thanks for the link.

That looks like an interesting read, I’ll dig into it later, and for sure, reading the manual on these ones definitely helps - I actually made the whole musical soundtrack for this piece by spending a fair bit of time getting to know the granular one and then doing takes until I did one I thought would work...

Kinda makes me feel silly about all the other apps I’ve spent a small fortune on, but then again, I probably wouldn’t have got to that point without playing with everything else...

You have some serious chops. Kudos.

    App Store link?

Just search for Thomas Burns.....easy to find yourself

    That's not the point.

Yes, all 10000 readers could search around in the App Store.
    But why?

It would be better to not only write about an App, but to simply offer the link as well, for all others to use ;)
That's a pretty common behavior, but sometimes people seem to forget.
I only wrote a nice reminder...

Why? Because this is a forum and not a helpdesk...... ;)

  • @tja I have to say I agree with Pierre. There are enough details in the title of the post, the link to the manual someone posted etc. This was not an announce thread for a new app, no need for app store links etc

@tja: In my opinion, every thread doesn't need a link to the app being discussed. This app isn't hard to find in the store or by searching at Google with "spectrum synth app store".

If having a link matters to you, perhaps you could find the link and post it in threads where you think it matters?

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Yeah, but people don't like being asked to post links because sometimes it seems that that person asking is too lazy to google it themselves. In any popular thread here, there are always going to be lots of pages. So if someone starts following along at a later point, how are they going to find the original link to the post? At the very least they will have to look around the other pages to try to find the link. In the time it takes to do that, they could have found it on Google / app store themselves, generally.

  • @tja: I think you'll find that to most people finding and posting a link when they want to talk about an app is something they don't feel like doing as it interrupts the spontaneity of posting especially since they themselves might not find it a problem to look up an app in the app store when they need to. You might have better luck influencing people's behavior by posting the links yourself and seeing if it catches on.

No way I’m bothering to post a link every time I open a thread about an app. If it’s an announcement, or a new app or something, sure. But otherwise not gonna happen. It’s just not necessary.

You can (and I’m sure will) keep tryin’ though. B)

    Yes! It’s fun. :D

Gimme a few minutes to figure out how to work Trump and/or Brexit into it, and tonight’s entertainment will be sorted.

    @wim

    That's cheeky. 😆

    @tja

@espiegel123 has the right of it.

It was a spur of the moment thought for an app that was released for free.
It's not an advertisement, it was a request for knowledge as in
'Does anyone know where the manual is for this app?', type question
and someone pointed me in the right direction for said information.

Now the important thing for you is that you wanted the link?

Well here's the link for the app

    https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/spectrum-synthesizer-bundle/id1467384251 🧐

The name of the app is Spectrum and it is by Thomas Burns.

    Cool?

    Are you happier now?

    Good. 😁

The important thing is how the bundle sounds and
Krupa and Identor have provided some really good
examples of it's uses as a sound source and instrument.

I also will be providing examples and presets for those
who would like them as I've mentioned before.

Have a great day as I have to say goodbye
to some friends at a wake tonight.

    Peace.

Rather lovely, just had it up on the speakers, very subtle and more than the sum of it's parts :)

BTW, i bought the Synth based on your recommendation!

    Wonderful my dear sir. :)

    Enjoy. 😁

  • I just downloaded the Spectrum Synth bundle.
    Blown away. Amazing.
The biggest thanks ever to the devs for this gift. I can’t believe it’s not butter or that this is free.
