Let me know if you want to join DRC TestFlight so give it an early spin.
I did some new presets this weekend by connecting my iPhone to my soundcard and then record direct into FRMS. Usually I import sounds so this was new for me. So much fun. One can e.g take what ever preset you made before and just record new sounds into that (instead of starting with default state) and get a completely new preset. Was recording i.e iFretless Sax and VirSyns AddStation, some movie dialogue and other stuff. Really rewarding and fun.
I did have some issues with the crop tool (scissor) as it sometimes cut completely random and not the part I selected. When you have imported a sound that's no big deal, you can just re-import but when you have recorded direct, well it's gone. It works most of the time so it's kind of strange.
I also want to know about the voices, and this goes for both FRMS and DRC: when you hold a static note with one hand and then play a couple of quick notes with the other, the hold note gets killed, it actually is enough with tapping one note very fast and it will also kill the sound of the held note.
There's also an issue with midi channel selection. If you have a setup in say AUM were you have picked channel 4 for FRMS. You then (on a different occasion) play FRMS in say Cubasis or stand alone and pick channel 2. Next time you open your AUM project FRMS will have changed to channel 2. I have sent a video about this a while back.
About preset export I have a dialogue already with @sinosoidal but I want to know if others have issues. Can you re-import your granular presets you have exported and they are intact? Mine were not but I did a clean re-install of the app, but then again, that should not matter.
I'm sure all will be good when LK gets some peace and quiet
Yesterday I had someone complaining about it but I couldn't replicate it. Then he couldn't either. This is probably only under certain conditions. If you are able to find out a pattern, please let me know.
We have recently discovered this on FRMS but didn't knew it was affecting DRC too. We are currently working on DRC update. We are going to investigate this one.
This is something to fix too. Is this a problem on DRC as well?
Sorry, didn't thad the time to check your preset export yet.
You are completely right. LK 1.9.0 was taking us too much valuable time!
And it was worth the investment!
Another strange bug (or iOS gesture (which I have turned off)) @sinosoidal is when you strike a chord on the built in keyboard it doesn't really take (when you use HOLD it works), instead you get this menu: see screenshot. This looks like an apple thingy, right? There's no undo or redo option built in in FRMS?
Edit: it seem to appear after overwriting a preset or maybe just saving. When the app is just opened it does not occur. Hope that helps.
Will do. I will send you a message
PerplexOn presets coming to FRMS
Whoot!
These sound fantastic - so atmospheric and full of detail and movement!
Absolutely amazing sounds from PerplexOn.
I don’t see the IAP on the app. Did you already download them?
Do you have them downloaded as well?
Yes, but I think they may only be available in the 1.3.0 beta for now? In the beta, the Perplex On bank appears in the list of patch banks.
Gotcha, I see the IAP listed in the App Store. Got excited when I noticed that.
It hasn't been officially release. Stay tuned!
Thanks, buddy!
I’m really enjoying latest Perplex On IAP🙏 Great work @sinosoidal
Thanks for your feedback. You need to see the video too. 18 minutes left for the premiere:
They sound great. How many presets are included in the pack?
30
Amazing set of patches. They feel and sound like they were meant for FRMS! Great work @sinosoidal and PerplexOn!
@sinosoidal: Fantastic video - love the particle effects - really helps visualise the sonics!
Can’t wait to get home and try these!!!
Killer preset bank. I’d feel guilty using them for something, but man theyre nice to listen to. I wish I had the patience to do these crazy granular patches. I kinda lost the will at anything past intermediate-level analog subtractive synth
It's actually very simple to do granular patches. Have you seen our FRMS tutorials series? We record sounds from common objects from our day life and then create presets out of them:
Instabuy IAP
Really enjoying the app, what I think would be of great help:
an import functionality that allows for cropping a segment out of a larger file. Would save a lot of time, especially on iOS where this is cumbersome.
@sinosoidal
When I try to load a 5th instance of FRMS in an AUM session it always loads ‘dead’ with this error message. Dsp is low, that’s not the problem.
I have replicated this repeatedly, and a restart does not solve the problem. Anyone able to replicate?
Yep - same for me Gav - iPad OS 14.4 on a Pro 10.5"
Also, if I don't close & reopen AUM and start a new session, any attempt to load FRMS has the same result...
When we start developing AUv3, we were having a memory problem that would break all the instances open of our products if a certain amount of memory was surpassed. In order to prevented that, we have intruduced an hard limit of 5 instances. So yeah, that's our hard limit working.
It has been a couple of years since we have started delivering AUv3, I need to see if that is still a problem and remove that hard limit.
