  • Welcome to the forum. Nice first post.

  • Thanks:)
im a friend of truth and this reaction is my truth... I didnt write an exclamation mark because im not angry, it should solely convey my feelings to this decision. The post should be read as if it is in italics;)
I still think that AB is the tool that makes ios audio semi-useable. Also i am very happy that seb made it.. Good on you seb)
I also know that ios 6 is a better platform for audio.period.
Maybe those 7% are actually people who know this and not some fanbois who upgrade to the latest "whatever" just because its available... Didnt think that AB would join the "wegwerf-gesellschaft" like the other unsensible companies and users... Mind you, anybody that has up/downgraded to ios7 should have no say in this matter...
I am serious about audio and use the ios platform as a sidekick when i am away from my daw and also for some sounds) Ab2 on ios 6 would have been wonderful and i really hope that the above statement is a joke.. Or please reconsider your decision seb... We can deal with any performance problems ab2 might have with ios6. A little "recommended for ios7" note is all it needs.
Anywho, thx again for AB and also thx SZoo for the warm welcome:)

ehm,not sure about this but wasnt there something that routing different apps/outputs to different apps/inputs at once is something that is just not possible pre iOS7?And sorry but most of your "explanation" is just polemic stuff from a frustrated user. Not really objective or constructive imo.

  • @crabman: audiobus made it possible.

    • no frustration, just some subjective facts..
      Constructive? Yes for 7%
What is your post supposed to signify? Nvm, your last sentence answered my question allready..

Anywho, thx seb for ur consideration:)

And where is the definitive, objective proof that iOS 6 is any better for audio than iOS7? All I've read is opinions on this (perhaps based on anecdotal experience which IS important but still only subjective), I want to see the proof. I know IAA isn't possible in iOS6.

  • I don't know about most of y'all, but when I see someone start to go off on the "you are all fanbois" rant I pretty much ignore anything that person has to say.

  • Even if iOS 6 were better for audio, fact is that Apple has made it obsolete. Anyone who refuses to upgrade will get left behind eventually, like it or not.

I agree with the decision not to put any more resources into backward compatibility. And you know what? By this time next year there will be the same discussion about iOS 7 vs. iOS 8....

  • Yeah, I'm not finding any "facts" in anything you said. It's quite heavy on opinion, but don't confuse those with facts or you'll sabotage your own credibility.

Yep. Much like political bumper stickers smeared all over the back of beat up cars, it provides a virtual warning sign for you. I don't even see the term "fanboi" when people use it anymore. I just see "I'm a troll, eat my bait". I'll still reply a few times though. Because...its the internets and that's just part of the show.

@mmp yeah, thats the "throwaway society" this civillization has turned into..;)
@yowza yeah, iaa is a very nice new feature:) - many devs have had issues with ios7 (NI etc) and there was a time where most audio devs have released a "stay away from 7 statement" based on facts.. I dont know how 7.1 is holding up yet.. It does definately seem like a rat race though.. More fixing and patching than building on what works. Not much value is placed on future compatibility.. (Even with hardware producers that have made a lot of stuff for the 30 pin connector and then apple changes to lightning, deeming a lot of unnecessary changes to be made)
@Zymos i didnt say everybody was a "fanboi" but surely there are people that fit this description. If you are not one, please disregard that comment and just see the positive points made;)

Now, lets all stop haggeling and get back on track of the subject;) "audiobus and ios6" ;)

    Love@all:)

  • @Freq, much more to work with there in that post. I would disagree that inovation marching forward should be equated with "throwaway society". I think you're cheating yourself a little with that outlook on things, but that's just my stupid opinion. Very true that some of the devs did warn against upgrading to iOS7 at first, defintely. But I think those issues were sorted out within the first couple of weeks of the launch. As far as the lightening connector goes, I was right there with you. I had TONS of accessories that were 30 pin (still have a few I have to use my connector for). I was kinda pissed when they made the jump, and I think I might have even said "never on Steve's watch" more than a few times. Though, I turned out to be wrong. And I actually quite like the simplicity of the lightening connector now that I've gotten used to it (and bought some new cables for some of the accessories I had). Fanboi is a term that has a place and time. I'm not sure I'd consider someone who upgraded their iOS on day one to ALL be fanbois, but I'd guess there are probably a few in the lot. Opinions are fun to share and I respect everyone's (most of the time). As long as we're not being rude and/or insulting to anyone (especially a developer who works as hard as they do to give us all this magic) I think you'll find most people here very welcoming. Welcome.

Personal attacks are grounds for dismissal from any web forum. I'm not sure why anyone would introduce themselves in such a manner if they intend to voice legitimate concerns and opinions.

The beauty of the Audiobus forum is that there is so much positive energy surrounding the iOS music community that we tend to ignore any odd/ unmerited/ rude comments and eventually win people over to civilized discussion. (anyone remember the impromptu piano/vocal apology last year? It was over an argument with @ryan and someone else. that made me smile.)

So, if you all agree, I (we?) can forgive @Freq and assume the best moving forward.

    Ultimately @Sebastian, its your call.

Thank you for your welcome boone:) i hear the voice of reason when i read it;)
I did not mean to insult anybody, and if I did please acccept my apologies.
We are a audio community- we work together and support eachother.
Thank you seb, and thx to all the people who make it "happen"
Take care and good music to all :)
Edit: @hmtx yeah personal attacks are ground for dismissal anywhere (not only the webs;)) lets keep the positive energy flowing;)

Speaking of staying on civilized discussion, I have found only a few benefits to upgrading my iPad 2 to iOS 7. Specifically, AudioShare and AUFX apps with IAA are great. Other than that, everything is slower on 7.0.4 than it was on 6.1.3. All around response of the OS, touch input, graphic animations, everything is worse on my iPad 2 now.
All that to say, I understand and can relate to the 7% still on iOS 6 and using Audiobus. It is a real letdown that they won't be able to get the upgrades and features of Audiobus 2.

Nevertheless, I totally support the decision to not develop future revisions for iOS 6. You just can't build a product for the 7%. That 7% bought Audiobus 1 and it will continue to work till their iOS 6 device dies. That is pretty outstanding, considering it cost us all $10 or less.

If some people want to take their ford mondeo to a formula 1 racing that's fine by me. It is their decision however therefore also their problem. I think all of us getting involved in trying to explain why it isn't wise is as much waste of resources as putting devs time into ios 6. Especially if their first comment is 'fuck you'. Fuck you too mate. Amen.

  • Sorry @mmp I was just elaborating on your point ;)

  • Ok, just read through the rest of the thread and seems like all got sorted. Apologies for my reaction, serves you right however. Hope @Freq you are able to learn from this experience.

  • He actually said Fvck you, the difference being the letter u! :)'

  • That's how the ancient Roman's spelled it....

Oh shit, I didn't realize. That makes all the difference. Let me rephrase: Fvck you too mate (no exclamation for extra friendliness)

Learnt a lot about you supadom, yes...
    no need to elaborate...

    Take care all:)

"Long live the 7%ers!" ;) (and the 93:p)

  • For fvcks sake, can't we all just get along?

  • Hilarious passive aggressive slant there freq, with all the fvcks, disses, smileys and love ins. I've upgraded, so apparently I shouldn't have a say in the matter, but I like the truth too, and my truth is that you come across kinda arrogant which might not help the cause. I care less about the 6% now.... shame.

No exclamation, smileys all round :) peace and love etc etc.

Cheers @skoptic I couldn't be fvcked to reply to that last comment.

  • Started reading this thread expecting some sort of interesting news about AB2 aside from the iOS 6 drop (this doesn't concern me). I felt like I was in the GearSlutz forums for a moment there...

...you know what I mean. When every thread devolves into a bunch of idiotic nonsense! Then I realized that I really am on the Audiobus forums, and look what it's becoming. I certainly hope this doesn't turn into that.

  • I like IOS 7, I just don't like that I don't have enough time to use all my apps as much as I would like :(

  • I'm sure @sebastian can defend himself gentlemen.

This is pretty clear cut, he stated audiobus 1 will still function with ios6. In a years time this whole debate will not matter, you can count on that.

Fwiw, look close and the GS forum has ALOT of good info despite some bickering, just short of KVR. Anytime you get a large group together there are bound to be disagreements, but the mob mentality is never good.

That is Hilarious, gonna keep that one. Made reading this thread worth it as I had already reluctantly moved to 7.

He already did with the first post. There is really nothing more to add,it just makes totally sense what he said.

  • This is the first forum I actually properly joined, I was lucky. Now I'm paranoid going anywhere else. I'm glad this forum is a big city otherwise I'd be stuck in a small town.
