Well, here’s my attempt at sound design and beat making in the first couple hours with Drambo:
Pardon the background noise, I used the screen recorder and built-in mic, wanted to explain a little of my process...I’ve got a lot of learning ahead, but I’m thinking it’ll be a fun adventure.
The FlexiSampler is great for using OP-1 drum kit samples, very easy to slice and get jamming quickly.
Nice, sounded super smooth
Quick little test spin
Love it. Super smooth. Nice work 👊🏼™️
Love that!
damn, @echoopera your tunes are very inspiring! nice work!
Thank you sir. Having some more fun noodling on this one:
Inspiring... 🎶 @echoopera ! 👍
Drambo iphone jam
A little mix of Drambo instruments and Continua being sequenced by Drambo with Playbeat doing it's thing:
Coming together nicely is this tool called The Drambo...yes yes...so nice...:)
You sir are amazing. Every new thing that comes out you have it mastered and make music that make me smile and angry at same time. LOL. I will pay you to teach via zoom or something!!!!!! Your awesome!!!!
Digging this thing.
I like. I also think we all need that sample, the one right at the beginning
"...first track with the Drambo...."
So diffidently said. I love it. Should be somewhere on all first Drambo tracks. It will be on mine
Cool! There must be a lot of physical modelling inside! 👏
Too much fun going on with this app. Using Drambo instruments and Sampler and sequencing Continua. Then using Drambo to fx PlayBeat. I finally have my OctaTrack on the iPad. 🤯👊🏼™️
I like this one a lot!
Are you addicted already? Drambo's been out for less than two days! 😮
Thanks @onerez and @rs2000
Drambo is definitely giving me an endorphin rush..it’s so good. So much to learn. So much to discover. Drambo is our mana today and tomorrow. 🤓
Like your Drambo creations a lot @echoopera !
I saw a barely used MPC One advertisement, is it yours?
Many thanks. Haha. No way. MPC ONE is here to stay.
Lovely tunes, @echoopera ! A bit inappropriate to ask in a Drambo thread, but how do you manage to control Continua on separate midi Tracks in AUM? I didn’t think this was possible, but evidently it is!
Is that flutesque sound continua? It's very nice. As is the whole thing of course!
Hit that little snake symbol on the upper right in AUM to open the MIDI routing window.
You can add and remove basic routing connections there.
Then hit the burger menu on the left of each top synth icon and select MIDI sources from there. All AUv3's that suport MIDi output will be listed as potential sources to select from.
Obviously there’s something I don’t get This technique works internally for me, yes. F.e. I can route 2 Rozeta basslines to 2 separate Continuas, no problem, and the midi channel doesn’t play a role. However, I want to use an external midi sequencer, connected to a midi interface on the iPad. The interface does show up as a single entity in AUM, so the „trick“ from above doesn’t work. And there doesn’t seem a way to change the midi channel in Continua. That’s where I’m stuck …
It does work!
All midi channels are transmitted over your external MIDI interface.
The only thing to make sure is that your external MIDI sequencer sends its note data on the same MIDI channel that you have set Continua to receive on (via the burger menu).
You set this in AUM, not in the plugin itself.
Add a MIDI monitor AUv3 on a separate MIDI track, set it to receive from your external MIDI and watch what messages come in, including the MIDI channels.
Well, you asked for it...
Thank you so much, it does indeed work. I‘ve tried this approach (afair) a while ago, but couldn’t get Continua to listen to other channels than 1. Now I have Drambo and Continua, this is great
Happy to hear that!
The Modal Resonant filter thing is similar to Mutable Instruments and Spectrum resonators. That and the proper use of envelopes can really make this thing shine.
I already have an idea for making some semi-realistic string sounds. I just need to sort out the routing of one generator to multiple reverbs that then get comped back to one envelope. This should be interesting. I was able to do it in MiRack, but since this is more linear, I just need to learn the utility tools for mixing and routing.
...Okay, so now I’ve actually taken the audio from that first go round with Drambo, and worked it up into something a bit more organised, which is how I usually work anyway. (Sorry about the odd bit of clip distortion. That’s the problem with random. It’s... random.)
Anyone interested in how bent out of shape the first thing got with the help of Sector, GlitchCore, Mangleverb and a few other toys besides can check out Rando Drambo II - just when you thought it was safe to get back in the studio - here:
Update: I’ve added the audio-only version of the finished track to my Soundcloud, available here
It has some nice distortion - and some not-so-nice distortion. Note to self: FAC Maxima in the master next time!
@Svetlovska pretty cool stuff!!!!!
