@lukesleepwalker Check this out, I’m building another drum machine from scratch, starting with each drum as an instrument rack preset, here’s a simple kick for example:

Each ‘drum’ will be a separate preset first, that way the instrument could be assembled to user preference, so long as there is a Note Filter at the beginning to set the overall keyboard range and a Mixer at the end to give each drum an audio out.

    Excellent idea!

No video yet, but here’s a project file with my latest work on the drum synth:

Gonna be posting more on PatchStorage and the Drambo forums with updates.

Good stuff man, even a nice demo song included! Thanks for uploading! 👍🏼🤗

  • Just submitted a sampler instrument called Dr. Flex (flex...rex...) to Patchstorage.

It’s a 16 slice loop player and mangler, runs the slices in sequence on host start, no need for midi note triggering.
Keeps the loop in pitch when changing host tempo, has swing, randomization and the possibility to control the order of slices.
Check out this short demo video.
Hope someone might find it useful...

Hey, even including swing, very nice!
    Thanks for uploading!

If you like to build a version that will re-use the original human rhythmic groove, have a look at this re-slicer with triggers driven by automatic transient detection in the original beat:

Wow you did that with Drambo? Amazing stuff.... I feel like I just a S600 Mercedes and use it in the backyard.
But I love the Octa midi sequencing of drambo. Worth the money.

    @rs2000 Crazy I got:
    https://patchstorage.com/3sleeves_trifecta2/
This one has 3 FM operators each with independent LFO modulated Filters, a simple Channel EQ, finished off with some, Chorus, Reverb, and a Phaser.
The default state kind of reminds me of Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place, especially when I play it with the Sensel Morph and allow pitch bending on the keys...serious VHS vibes😄

when you play this patch with the Sensel Morph, polyphonically, can you pitch bend each note separately? I still haven't found out how to enable MPE mode in Drambo. I can select 'ALL' and MIDI channels 1-16, but not MPE.

Could you please record some MIDI data of your playing on the Sensel Morph that demonstrates these different pitch bends per note?
I would like to try that. Thank you.

    Cool!

And fun! I'm always interested in ways to get new rhythms, we have quite a number of algorithmic melody generators but not many of them take much care of rhythm, which is just as important IMHO 😉

I’ve just uploaded my first patch! Import as rack module preset.

I was going for a string machine feel with no particular existing sound in mind. Just organic with some movement within.

I would have liked it to react differently depending on velocity of each note of the chord but didn’t know how to do that. :(

    Nice.

Turn velocity knob up in your AMP module.

I can import it but it shows as an empty rack.
When I try adding another rack, Drambo hangs and has to be force-closed.

Are you importing it using rack header?
If so it happened to me before with Ben’s patch. Have no idea why but it works occasionally. Must be cybergoblins at work.

Yes, that's what I did. Then chose Presets > Import > loaded it from a folder in Files.app.
    Weird.

I had a problem too, it seemed to import a track number 13 into the session and on that track was the instrument...but it made the app hang. So I copied the instrument into a new rack and saved it as another preset deleting the old one...this worked for me :)

The audio was frozen but I could still use Drambo gui, I just copied and then pasted all the modules into a new rack, saving a preset afterwards.

Ah, OK. I have the Track 13 but there's no modules in it. It's empty.

Edit: forget it, I found the module by opening up the tracks view.

  • yeah it's weird it opens it on the track 13 but the track 13 module is imported on the track you tried to open it on...this is why it's hanging. I posted the bug in the Drambo forum.

sure, although I'm not certain if the MIDI files are correctly recorded and exported. It's a short MIDI clip with only two voices. The higher voice has some vibrato (done with wiggling the finger) and one large pitch bend, should be clearly visible in a DAW.

    https://www104.zippyshare.com/v/yYhDUepO/file.html
The first one is MIDI channel 1 for both voices (I expected two different channels to record, but that's how it went). In the second file I changed the higher voice to MIDI channel 2.

Cheers man. I’d love to make more sample and synth combinations with clicks and knocks and noises but I’m wary of uploading patches that folks have problems downloading. What’s the file size limit at patchstorage? I see they limit file size for icons and avatars.
