But isn’t that the issue here, for those suggesting the benefits of a piano roll? It’s a brand new app, quite revolutionary in its design and functionality, but saddled with a beatbox style sequencer, because the purists want to keep it true to the concept of an existing piece of hardware.
Suggestions that musical composition and editing would benefit from the addition of a more graphical sequencer, have been knocked back in a very blunt, and sarcastic way, and as a result will simply put off future constructive input from customers who feel their suggestions are unwelcome.
There’s been almost 200 pages of discussion over the last two years, full of suggestions for tweaks and features, but now it’s released those of who have just paid our £20 entry fee are being derided for having an opinion on what we’ve just bought.
It’s not a good look.
Yeah, don't worry, I at least agree with you that that's whack. When someone contributed a lot, as Shiro clearly did, it frankly seems unnecessary and in fact very inconsiderate to delete all your posts, it will make it hard for people to follow past threads. I can't understand the need for that action in this case, it seems the dispute in question was really not that big a deal.
Agree, but there is a grey area between basic functions and features.
I can still read his posts.
What writings did he delete?
Lol, this is some classic internet at work
says sayonara
gets sympathy
yet keeps coming back and posting
gets deeper, more philosophical sympathy
gets challenged by one user
is offended, deletes account
previously sympathetic users trash the deleted account because he made their life a little less convenient
This thread was seriously the internet version of a great novel on human behavior. This is why many students just go smoke in the boys’/girls’ room instead.
Says the guy who made a “drone” synth that only sounds like a drone. No wavetable, no sampling, not even a built-in sequencer.
😉
And to take my tongue out of my cheek, this is literally the most non-combative place full of strangers that I’ve ever experienced, in real life or virtually.
Yup, all of his posts are still available, none were erased - the only thing that changed was his username changed to [Deleted User]. Quotes still show his old username. You can still search for his old username and find his quoted comments.
Not at all difficult to find an answer.
For people to call it 'truely wrong' or 'Orwellian' to request your account to be deleted is just silly. Again, 'the retroactive erasure of your writings' doesn't happen when your account is deleted.
Down with all this sort of stuff about thing!
This is why I stopped trying to use linux for music and “gave in to the evil empire” by buying a used mac. Then I stopped using rooted android phones with custom roms, and “gave in the the evil empire” and got an iPhone (which led to ipad). In that world, suggestions often were very personal to people and when there were others who disagreed, they were hurt at times, which led to scattered features and lack of standards. Sounds awesome if someone is an anarchist. Not so awesome if you want to finish projects.
That made me realize there is great value to user suggestions that then go to a developer to make the final call, or to a company that makes decisions. Depends if the app/ program itself is the art or a tool to allow others to make their art.
There’s no right answer overall, and the balanace depends on a situation for sure. I know now that I only want to make changes to my workflow that will he beneficial to me finishing my projects or creating what is in my mind. Anything else is a distraction and I have no problem finding those. I haven’t gotten drambo and don’t foresee myself doing so because all of the descriptions of it make my mind hurt, and any sort groovebox type app I’ve obtained hasn’t meshed with my brain (I have many and I’ve tried!). But I also know that there are many people here who are going to make amazing art with Drambo. All good as long as it does it for you.
I’m sorry that someone got upset enough to leave, we all have to do what we have to do.
I’m done stand up philosophizing now.
+1
Folks should really use that ignore feature. It's been invaluable to me. There are just a wee handful of users that I perpetually fail to get along with (a-hem)
When that happens, I just hit that ignore button. Often it never even gets to the ignore button because I stopped taking most of this seriously a long time ago.
For awhile they're effectively ignored and I can enjoy the forum unencumbered . After some time, I start taking a peek at what they posted. Usually, after a few days or so, i'm completely over it and un-ignore them.
Mostly just try to ask questions about apps I'm interested in. Grateful for the helpful replies I get. Then offer information when I can answer other's questions. Toss in a little off-topic recommendations every now and then. And pretty much keep my personal opinions about anything out of it. Just a resource/information exchange that I enjoy participating in. Nothing more, or less.
