@Samu , hold in mind that the 11” iPad Pro (2018) has a different screenratio than ordinary iPads...
That’s why I sold mine after just one month (couldnt stand that it was not 4:3)...
So maybe the iPad Air 3 is a better option then?
(I’m so used to the fully laminated screen that the gap on the 10,2 and 9,7 gets annoying),
Then again I’m in no real rush to upgrade yet...
I think you really get my frustration 😊
Could also list so much more.
Building a drum kit with individual components, having multi output so that every component can be edited individually, having group busses. Oh wait.. having busses at all 😄
And the list goes on...
When I imported a GarageBand for iOS session into Logic I could see the GB iOS routing and how much of Logic is being used in it. So it feels like Apple or the emagic team could just continue implementing features. I understand that they want to keep things as simple and user friendly as possible. That’s exactly why we need this little “unlock pro features” in the settings to switch from this fun simple interface to a proper mixer with routing.
Or yeah add a lighter Logic for the more “pro” users.
Come on Apple!
Stem export, looping a selection, record midi from AU plugins, faster access to AU plugins (they’re buried several clicks deep), and a smaller recording window — currently it takes up the entire screen!
Also, song alternatives, like Logic has.
Also good suggestions!
Yeah the AUs are definitely hidden away too much. Always feels like hacking GB to add one 😄
Man something in me hopes that some GB/Logic devs stumble across this forum. Who knows also just people. Falls ja Grüße nach Hamburg
Even though surely nothing new to them. I guess it’s all dependant on the business decisions from Cupertino.
Decided to rename the title of this thread as „GarageBand lacks“ sounded a bit negative or like a complaint. I do appreciate GB for iOS and only wish for more Logic features in it.
Cheers to everyone joining in! Really enjoying this discussion!
Per-event automation, AUv3 Midi plugins, pattern ghosting, multiple tracks per instrument, changeable colors for patterns.
I find it not negative. Better than Garage Band sucks
😄
I would like to see more depth to alchemy, as well as, import of alchemy patches from lpx if you own it...or main stage.
A Useable master bus please!
Way more drum machine features such as user kits, tuning, etc
Stem export
More of the Logic Pro instruments...organ, ep, synths etc
These things would be enough for me
'Bounce In Place' without having to use merge and thus get duplicate projects for every merge that is done.
'Normalize & Trim Sample' when using the sampler to save storage (the whole section/track is saved as part of the sampler instrument even if just a small portion is used).
Access to all 16 sounds from the drum pads (currently the pad layout has 12 pads while the kits have 16 or more sounds).
Tuning & Reverse option for drum pads. (It's based on UltraBeat & DrumDesigner so it can definitely be done!).
'Empty Kit' that allows Drag'n'Drop import fo samples to pads. (Again UltraBeat & Drum Designer already supports this).
Editing to the recorded touch-instrument automation (Pitch-Bend, Mod Wheel etc.).
Improved AUv3 support (Automation & Editing).
Option to disable the cheesy flip animations that slow things down.
Loop parts of tracks without having to create sections etc. etc etc. etc.
I would love that. The best current method would be solo a track, exit out, share to export wav of project (which is only one track on solo, then bring it back in.
It really doesn't take that much longer. It would be nice to have a real BIP action though.
In Accessibility, if reduce motion is checked, I don't think it does animations. I am not sure what you're referring to because I have reduce motion enabled on all my devices.
Apple should just port GarageBand from Mac to iOS.
Keep the current onscreen midi keyboard and all the onscreen instruments way of playing.
Add sidechain, Multiout, Audio stretches.
And the from there work their way up with future updates.
The current interface is just so bad.
Too much tapping.
My Top 3 wishes would be mainly to have full editing of the following instruments also on iOS.
Alchemy: The latest version really can do so much and beside for analog tones and audio rate modulations (which it can´t do) it is my favorite synth since ever maybe with some of the most unique sounding FX in any synth or even third party FX plug-in. But sadly Apple also crippled some important features away from the latest pre Apple version 1.55 like microtuning and waveform import.
Sculpture: I would just trough money at it for a full iOS version as standalone instrument. Sculpture is old but gold. Just so an outstanding instrument for me. It always blows my mind. One of the best tools for organic noises and soundscapes and much more as well. There is really nothing like it elsewhere. Beside that i find it is the hardest synth to program, lol.
ChromaVerb: Best GUI for a reverb i ever saw and it looks great for multi-touch as well. Maybe one day. Its a bit like Fabfilters Pro-R but i like it even more. It would easy be sold for 100-150 as third party plug-in. Simple but effective things missing in other high end reverbs on top. It also sounds really good.
There is much more but this are actually my Top 3.
Number 1 and 3 having already GUIs which would works great on a multi-touch device.
Number 2 was updated but still mainly the same old GUI which looks like from the 90´s or so.
Is it possible to change the drum kit for each drummer? Somehow I couldn't find the way to do it in iOS but I remember being able to do it on Garageband Mac, but that's quite a while ago.
thanks to this, I got another tip , i was not aware
I read this "Or export all your tracks as individual “stems” in ONE GO"
. I quickly checked how, and damn ..I was still doing it the old way.....One track at a time
was so cool to see audiobusforum contributing on this
https://www.cultofmac.com/581136/export-garageband-stems-ipad/
I’d love to be able to “insert” measures.
Awesome reading all of this, because it's definitely not a bad app, at all... but I really don't know what incentive Apple has to make it more functional
it's a funnel to get people onto Logic eventually. Same with Reason Studio's offering, it's just to try to get people onto the desktop software (though GB iOS is incredibly, incredibly more functional than Reason Compact).
But like I said it's nice reading all this, it's crazy how it wouldn't really take much added in for people to be like "Hey this is pretty good as a main host"
But, as soon Affinity Publisher hits the iPadOS community I’m for sure will invest in an iPad Pro with 6GB RAM - then I have two iPad Pro 2nd gen for sale ;-) - 256GB/4G on both, one 12.9” and one 10.5”...
As I can see here in Sweden there’s seems to be almost impossible to buy the new iPad Pro 12.9”...
Or the could simply just make it as easy as Cubasis and stagelight.
Everyone the same page.
Tap add instrument and choose from list, just like in GarageBand desktop or logic..
Just added to GarageBand’s free drums section:
Nice!
GarageBand is so good for just doing up some drum tracks.
Is it possible to midi map an Auv3 effect inside GarageBand?
Looks nice, will try it soon and share my thoughts.
