    Keyboards are no problem but
Oh the Horror when they have a left hand mouse 😂

Ya, forgot that one. I actually cross hands in that situation. Looks ridiculous. The only thing I simply cannot adapt to is those Logitech trackballs where the ball is on the side and you move it with your thumb. My thumb just refuses to do that.

Is it really true that a Mac scrolls like the iPad, so different to Windows? :o
EDIT: It seems that I changed that on the Mac.

Yep, it's configurable. I've kept it "natural" (how "Apple" is that?? :D ) - just to challenge myself to adapt to a different paradigm.

Same as adapting to a guitar vs. a ukelele vs. a violin vs. different guitar tunings. Its a worthy skill to nurture.

I fear that I'm too old for that :D
Would depend on Apple adding an option to invert / reverse the scrolling...

It's present on Macs. For iOS, many mice have software settings to reverse their scrolling behavior. It took hooking up to my PC, but my Microsoft, Logitech, and even the cheap no-name brand bluetooth one I bought all have this.

  • @Max23 I remember that! Yeah, using a touch screen in laptop position is very tiring. But with the Magic Trackpad 2, you never need to touch the screen. It’s really good. Opens up a second usage method for the iPad, which is neat.

So are talking about Magic Mouse 2? I have seen some good reviews of that with iOS. Anyone here using it or did I miss that?

Yes, I’m using MM 2 though I really liked the surface arc mouse, I will try it again.

Just got a MM2.... not bad. Takes some getting used to.

  • I tried my surface mouse again, nope it will not work.

Not sure when this was added, but if found a Settings toggle "Natural Scrolling".
Now, it is more "unnatural scrolling" or "natural touch-movements", but anyways, disabling that made the mouse scrolling workable for me!
    Great news.

I then again tried to understand what Apple is doing with the Mouse support, which is quite confusing.

In "General" there is just a basic "Trackpad & Mouse" section.
Here, we can find this "Natural Scrolling" (they mean "natural touch-movements").

    And there is "Secondary Click"....
This seems to switch the left and right mouse-button.
    For whatever reason.

    That´s it.

And with only using this, using the Mouse does not work at all, it seems.

Scrolling up opens the Search window, which should be on scrolling down, of course - at least when it should be the same as with with touch gestures.
But then, maybe Apple simple forgot to apply the "non-natural scolling" to this?

But anyway, in this mode, the mouse cannot do nothing.
You maybe can select text and scroll up and down, but that´s it.

You cannot switch between desktop screens or do ANYTHING useful at all, for example watch images in the Photos App.
Also, all other mouse buttons do not work!
    They cannot do anything!

So, for whom is this mode?

For me, it seems to be totally useless.
    What´s your opinion?

( Now there is a way to fix things, by using "Assistive Touch", more about this later )

They’re just in this weird position where it’s obvious that ios had to develop as it’s not just a mobile os and is miles behind other operating systems, but they are incredibly arrogant and absolutely hate having to admit that so try to do so in such a way that appears to be innovating or original or unique to their products. Which means broken file systems that don’t even tell you file types (hey you can view files but we’re still pretending they’re not files but that sounds a bit computery...), broken mouse support, godawful unusable cursor and text selection, inflexible everything, utterly non functional icon selection/movement etc.

It’s like a dream combination of comolete incompetence as programmers and designers and utter refusal to do anything that needs doing until absolutely forced to. It’s always a conundrum which is te major cause of their latest f up. There was a time when I would instinctively know how to do anything on ios - now nothing ever works in a way that makes any sense at all.
