Website for desktop software has a bunch of patches and demos

    https://tal-software.com/products/tal-u-no-lx

Thanks, downloaded and installed the presets 😊👍

Thanks :) The "free" folders of presets don't seem to work for me...they are greyed out after installing. Are they working for you?

Yes, I downloaded the zip files and unzipped them and copied the folders to the presets folder. Opened the standalone app and they are there

I can't get this to work. The new presets are always greyed out no matter where I copy them. Would you mind giving me some detailed instructions (ideally they should be idiot-proof 🤪😊)

The proper link is toward the bottom of the page. Not the ones on the upper left.

it's a few posts back, but you need to install from the other links, not the vst3 link :)

Dammit. So many great things coming out all at the same time. The nostalgia factor is strong on this one. Not because of the 80's or the hardware, but because it was one of the original few VST's I had when I started off on PC back in the last century.

At least it's not universal, and doesn't appear to be on sale. Maybe I can resist for just a bit longer to ease my conscience.

...downloaded the zip files and unzipped them....

Where did you unzip these guys to? In Files somewhere and then copied the folders from there? Sorry for being so useless etc.

Just wish I could tune the drums in GarageBand :)
(So far it's got the best Linn Drum samples of any iOS app out there).

Try going to settings and changing the song key. It tunes the loops and the drums.

In On My IPad there is a folder for TAL-U-NO-LX with a presets folder inside. Just put them there, open the standalone and you should see them. They should then show up in your host also. I made a User folder but I can only save to it in the standalone. It does show up in the AUv3 host however. I emailed them about adding user load/save to the AUv3.

  • Anybody manage to get Bank Change working via midi?

Looks like Program Change is fixed to Factory bank only.

I just downloaded them in Safari and opened the transfers folder and unzipped there and then copied the folders to the presets folder.

I like what @wim said about waiting for a sale, I probably won’t though.

    I'll mess around with it...
But I'm thinking more like tuning the snare sample down 5 semitones and the kick down by 2 etc.

When I export a GarageBand file to the Mac and open it in Logic the drum-kit is an ESX24 instrument and it's fairly easy to transpose/tune any of the sounds as needed. Some of the newer GarageBand kits open as Drum Machine Designer which allows even more control. (Each pad is an instance of Ultrabeat so all parameters can be automated yay).

I really hope Apple steps up the game with GarageBand for iOS/iPadOS14 if not earlier...
(Still waiting for the next Logic update so...).

  • it does sound good.
my only wish would be the user interface just a tiny bit more finger touch friendly.

Also seems to have lost my midi mappings when changing bank too?

Must have accidentally hit Midi Clear. Not keen on that being exposed so easily, would prefer that hidden in options. It's too easy to wipe away invested time setting up the midi learn.

I do like how easy the midi learn is though.

And of course the synth sounds great!

  • Certainly interesting. Too bad I already own an iOS synth. Sucker for these emulations, if they’re done well.

  • Here is my Live Stream

  • TAL U-no-LX is a great synth.. I made this track last year with a friend (Label owner) of mine who got the rights to the MLK vocals.. It’s a remake of Mr Finger - “Can You Feel It”... Got good feedback from the release.. All are the sounds from TAL U-no-LX, but this was from the VST version.. Obviously, as iOS version only came out until recently..

  • I have a GUI question

    Is everybody seeing this:

Actually, this track I did, did piss off Sony a bit.. Also, from Promo feedback, a few thought I used samples from it.. So I made a small video for Label of me programming & playing in Ableton, just in case in Sony Law Suites visited us.. No samples, only synths, & programming..

Edit (it is the way it looks in the AppStore image, but Doug’s doesn’t look that way).

it's a direct port of the vst skin, there is an older skin I saw via google and youtube which is more ipad shaped without the keyboard, I wish they had that as an option...but at least you can use it as an AUv3 and remove the blank shape.

That’s how the standalone looks on my 2019 ipad. Here’s NS2 and Zenbeats. AUM is variable.

Well you can hide the keyboard, but then:

even more blank shape. I can live with that.
