Yeah. Roll off the high end, add some modulated noise, boom. It’s an easy patch to make.

Yes, yes, yes, but these were recorded by way of an actual cassette and so forth.

I like to roll off the high end too... could you explain a bit more what you mean with „modulated noise“? Would love to try it! Thanks!

  • That app is made with our free ROM Player template:
    https://github.com/AudioKit/ROMPlayer

In case anyone is interested in making their own app like that.

We also have a new free AUv3 template coming in a few weeks.

  • Yeah I cannot find a single demo anywhere.

Run noise through a filter, send a LFO to give the filter's frequency a little motion. Maybe send another LFO to the channel's gain. Too much LFO and you get ocean waves coming in and out, but a tiny bit of modulation gives you the sense of movement in the noise. Sample some of the in-between-stations tuning noise from a software shortwave radio and mix that in on top of the white noise.

Sounds like it was recorded on a micro cassette. That’s an even better technique. I have two of them that I use as filters.

  • Reached out to Weston and received a nice note from him. I like the app/piano. Can be very suggestive in sound/tone, but then sometimes I'm a lost and miserable bugger so this is my kind of padded cell :)

Pleased to encourage a 'new' developer. Who's to know what else they will do and make? But for now I would take some AU3 or AB action, so the slow amongst us could connect this puppy up.

  • got the app ... can’t play it in Aum nor audiobus ?

  • @can't, indeed. That was mentioned by a few ppl already in this thread. Pity, it actually sounds really nice, based on a quick listen to the soundcloud link above. Was just listening through my phone speakers, so was definitely super lofi haha

Not nice, hope they will update the app asap.

    +1.

No way to record our stuff or import our samples into it either I guess right now? This is alas, another case of a half finished app syndrome. It has such promise but it is overpriced IMHO for you actually get for it, sad! Instahbought = Instahregret!!! Dear DEV: Please finish this APP ASAP so we can actually record with it and use this with (AU) & proper connnectivity. I am tempted to get a refund on this if further work is not forthcoming on this one. Sorry but I cannot recommend this App as as it is right now guys! Sweet sounds but then what???

  • edited April 2020

@ElektrikDiva to their defense, i wrote to the dev, he came back to me and told me Auv3 is on the priority list... everyone has to begin somewhere and i believe this is a good beginning.

  • It definitely sounds nice, I’d definitely jam it into a tune if it was AUv3

Does the description say it does any of that?

Thanks for reaching out to the Dev M. I do appreciate that! I am very glad to hear that he is willing to work on improving it. One can only hope for connectivity. For me, without a way to record or to import My samples makes the app pretty unusable for me right now and that’s a shame. It should not have been released unfinished like this at this price point.

For the time being, it won't fit into iOS production environments. But as it does accept midi, it can be a capable sound module for use in greater studio settings.

To the dev: I'm totally game when this hits Auv3. Looking forward to further development.

    edit: typo

+1. In its current state I feel that this is overpriced despite its lovely sounds.
