Ha! Yes, I love that and the Kennedy story. My friend just toured with him on the Levin Brothers tour and he said they had a blast. Unfortunately I was not able to make any of the local shows due to sound gigs, I would have enjoyed hanging with them. I got to meet Tony once briefly at one of his shows, but it was really brief.

Mark Prendergast’s The Ambient Century is an excellent survey of the topic. Of particular interest to me were the opening chapters dealing with the genesis of the ambient idea in classical composers like Debussy and Satie.
I’ve read many books about The Beatles. In terms of a song-by-song analysis, I don’t believe that Ian MacDonald’s Revolution in the Head can be topped. He has something interesting to say about every song.

The Ambient Century is an excellent selection.
The Rest Is Noise by Alex Ross makes an great companion read.
