  • Nice version of Walking on the Moon here using a bunch of Woodman’s apps, including WoodScaper.

  • @Gavinski , love all the tutorials you’ve done Gav, detailed explanations of all functions.
Another Woodman app, Woodstepper, has baffled me for months, and there don’t seem to be any demo vids with a proper explanation.
If you have Woodstepper, any chance you could find the time for a little instructional demo?? Thx

+1 never understand how it works

Thanks! Maybe somewhere down the line I will, yes. But not sure when, yet. I'm pretty sure that a Woodulator tutorial would come before that one, I've played with it a bit more. Are there no good vids for Woodstepper on YouTube?

  • That’s a unexpectedly lovely cover of Walking on the Moon. Not sure what I was expecting, but that was definitely a treat. Thanks for posting.

  • @Gavinski , there are a few on YT, a bit disappointing, without much explanation of hows and whys (no offence to those).
Synth, sequencer, audio recorder , Audio sequencer, all track options ??
What do they do, how do they work together and why?
    Thanks

  • Did u read the manual by the way? Woodman's manuals are excellent

  • Not sure how I missed WoodScaper on my many visits here every day? Especially as an AU3 midi controllable Wah has been high on my list.

This sounds really good and I’m very tempted. Does anyone know of any alternative that offers AU3 Wah? I want something to line up with a few Nembrini apps In AUM/AB. I’ve tried with just the wah pedal from ToneStack as IAA, but it’s not an elegant solution.

  • Doesn't classic fx include some wah, if I remember right? Bit probably woodscaper would be more what you're looking for I think

  • @Gavinski said:

Midi foot pedal control crucial for me, I don’t think Classic fx has CC input for that? I think probably it’s good if there’s nothing else obvious I’ve missed, as WoodScaper looks like a good fit for me in the way it’s designed. Trigger finger trembling...

  • Get it then!

Easy tiger :) I’m supposed to be going for a walk in the woods, reckon I should wait at least until I have a guitar in my hand.

My last restraint was that it might be iPad only, but no, it’s universal. So if I make it back from the woods I’m in. After all, in a normal universe I’d be off to the pub and that would cost at least £11.99...

    Er, please check back in...

  • You can’t see the wood(scaper) for the trees, then, literally 😛

  • here is a nice version of "Walking on the moon" performed by my son Brent Buckler, in which he shows how he is using WoodScaper (and some of my other plugins) in the mix. Enjoy !

  • I posted this here yesterday @woodman, and it already got some love 😛. It’s really great.

  • ha ok, sorry didn't see that, I guess I am too enthusiastic :-)

  • @gsm909 and others wondering about WoodStepper :
I am currently working on Woodulator 2.0 (should be out in +- 2 weeks) but after that I'll try to give some more explanation on WoodStepper. It may help if you send me some specific questions on what exactly you are having trouble with.
I also wrote a getting started manual and I'll try to add some stuff in there as I realise it is not covering everything.

  • Aside: @steve99 I've also been a fan of ToneStack's wah. iFX Rack's wah is one I intend to checkout. Someone (@Gavinski @Daveypoo?) should do a wah shootout. Any AUv3 with a pedal controlled bandpass filter could be a contender: BLEASS filter (has a Wah-ha setting), Filterstation2, iFX Rack, Woodscaper, WOW.

I made it back from the woods and entered the WoodScaper. Very good indeed. I ended up more ‘Full out attack on mars’ than ‘walking on the moon’, but that’s not been a bad thing.

I used the wah with a pedal for a while, but it wasn’t really a swap for a traditional pedal wah. As you point out @mojozart, that made me remember iFX Rack which I’ve used before. I really like the wah in that, works well with a pedal, and i like iFX as a whole. My only frustration being you can’t turn individual racks on and off with midi cc at the moment. You can bypass the entire FX in AUM, but ideally I’d have other FX running on other slots. I know I could use another instance, but then things start getting a bit out of hand.

Anyway, once I was off and burning with IFX, WoodScaper and a couple of Nembrinis, it turned out I didn’t really care about turning things on and off after all...

Very happy with my WoodScaper experience, much more than I was looking for in fact, the phaser really took me on a journey. I can only imagine how good it’ll be if I actually learn how it all works.

  • @steve99 : very pleased that you are happy with WoodScaper !
btw the 4 effects in WoodScaper can be turned on/off with Midi CC's ...

Yes, sorry if I caused any confusion by straying a little off topic with wah talk. Midi control of WoodScaper seems very good. Will stick it in the middle of my signal chain and get tweaking. Thank you.

This is great. I'm old enough to be thrashed by my friends for saying this but I think I prefer it to the original.

Shoutout to Woodscaper dev for his responsiveness.

I picked up Woodscaper in the summer sale, and noticed that stereo input signals were summed to mono - easiest to spot at 100% DRY. The Wet output is stereo, so I didn't notice right away, but I often use an effect's wet/dry control during live performances to fade effects in and out, so spotted it there.

Anyways, within 12 hours dev responded to say this was a bug and would be fixed asap.

Yes, and you popped to mind as I'd watched your Woodscaper tutorial in AUM with stereo inputs, whereas I guess spotting the above issue with a mono guitar input is less likely.

Indeed, but it was still a useful part of a purchasing decision

Good find, and even better initiative. I didn’t even notice the issue.
I also bought it on the summer sale, just because of the wah-wah alone.

  • Bought it and it's a great app. I just have troubles opening the presets window in Logic Pro, is it just me? I don't have my iPad with me right now so I can't make a video.
